About This Listing
Rancho Buena Vista has a ranch setting nestled in the heart of Steinbeck Country. Our Family home is furnished beautifully with a very large garden and yard. Buena Vista is a 3 bedroom (with one king, 2 queens and a twin bed) 2 bathroom 2500 square foot home. We also have a foldout couch bed in the den. A lovely lawn with sun and blooming flowers awaits you and your family. Horses graze in the field that borders the hand-hewn ranch fence. Our home is 5 minutes from downtown Monterey, 2 minutes from the Monterey airport (a walkable distance), 10 min drive to Carmel, and 20 mins from Pacific Grove and Salinas. The closest beach is only a 5-7 min drive. We are 3-5 mins from the Navel Postgraduate School. We are close to everything but our Rancho is very private and secluded. Sweet doves nest near by so the evening air is filled with their calming coos. Our home and our garden are comfortable and warm any time of the year with 60 year old apple trees, lavender, and roses planted originally by my grandmother in the 1950's. Come and enjoy your stay. We welcome you!
The public Transit is walking distance if you choose to use it.
What makes Buena Vista unique is our quiet country setting on the Historical Famed Tarpy Flats away from it all yet very, very close to Downtown and the Beach!!
It's quiet and it's a country setting yet close to everything.
Keep the house in good condition and let me know if anything gets broken. Please clean up after any pets (pls talk to me about your pets and their habits). Pets that like to dig big holes in gardens are discouraged :) Be courteous of neighbors. If a party or event is scheduled then please let me know before booking.
There are horses that graze in the neighboring field.
Madeline was the best host! I rented this house for my family during a long weekend for my wedding. It was hard to imagine what the house looked like with the pictures. I thought it was going to be a lot smaller. The house ended up being a really nice spacious size. I was able to use the second living room for my hair & make up with all my bridal party members. While I had someone in the kitchen making breakfast and the kids in the backyard playing. It was perfect!!! If I need to go back to Monterrey I will definitely look at renting this house again. It would perfect for a large family gathering.
The only thing I'm not used to, because I live in the city is how dark it gets at night. We had to use our cell phone lights to walk to our cars at night. I almost fell a couple of times.
Madeline was very responsive in communication- from the original stages of inquiry and booking of the ranch house, to our actual stay. She helped make us welcome by emailing and texting with us the day before and checking in the next day during our 2 night stay, and was accommodating.
The listing was accurate; it's a warm family home in a quiet country neighborhood. By car it's very close to Pacific Grove, Carmel and downtown Monterey. Inside the home, there's a lot of space for people to do their own things: fire place in large den with piano, backyard for playing catch, tv room, big kitchen, and lots of gathering tables in various rooms.
This was the most wonderful experience and was perfect for my wife's 30th birthday celebration.
The home was in immaculate shape and it absolutely was able to accommodate all 10 of the people in our party.
The backyard was huge and our little puppy was in heaven having the space to run around.
Madeline was extremely polite and professional throughout the entire experience, giving me email and text updates about the home. even though I didn't get to meet her, we all felt very welcome.
I would highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to have an amazing experience.
We stayed here for a little over a week while my husband was racing at Laguna Seca. The location to the racetrack is ideal. The surprise was how easy and quick it was to drop into Monterey and even Carmel. When the crew arrived later in the week, we easily slept 12 comfortably. The more difficult part was the two bathrooms with that many adults. We made it work though!
The house is absolutely perfect for entertaining too. We invited some folks from the racetrack and had a great cookout, including a fire pit. They have all of the little "extra touches" there at the house. And the kitchen is stocked with most of the cooking items you need.
We were going to bring our dog, but I am glad we didn't. While the backyard is fenced, it connects to the front yard which has a swinging door that she could have easily gotten out of.
There is a business that is run on the property, away from the house, but they never were in the way and once we met them, they were EXTREMELY nice. Also, I would said that the pictures on here, while they are accurate, do not do the place justice. As soon as you walk through the swinging doors to the front patio, you feel like "ahhh, I'm home." And it is a family home, with all of the mementos and décor still up. To me, that makes you feel welcome in someone's home, even though they no longer live there.
Great experience and everyone loved the house! We hated to leave, but we left as National Champions!
