Interaction with Guests
If you stay at our house, it means we're away! Either back in Canada, or travelling somewhere in Asia.
A bit about us: We're an active Canadian family of 5 - three boys, the oldest age 16 (Emmet), and twins age 11 (Myles and Austin). Five years ago we relocated to Bali, and have been enjoying the change of pace and fresh air ever since. We love Bali, and love meeting new people.
During your stay, we're happy to suggest things to do, places to see, and interesting people to meet. Some of our favourite things to do are yoga classes, mountain biking, and visits to some of Bali's incredible temples. We can also connect you to a local driver, or help rent a scooter. So go ahead and splurge, and stay at a great house for families in Ubud!
Nyuh Kuning is in Southern Ubud, just below the monkey forest. It has been named the cleanest village in Indonesia several times in the past few years!
We love living here as it's quiet, beautiful, but still very close to Ubud.
The easiest ways to get around Ubud is on foot, by bicycle, by scooter, or by taxi (usually a private driver).
Other Things to Note
One of our favourite thing about the house is that the swimming pool is salt-water. Which means you don't get out of the pool smelling like chlorine!
We don't have a ton of rules, other than we ask guests to respect the property and staff who work here.
Our cook and house staff come with the reservation, but food costs are extra. Kadek has worked for us for many years, and will grocery shop and plan meals.
Alternatively, you can buy your own food and use the kitchen.
Smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the house.
No guests please.
My family and I (7 in total) stayed for 4 nights in this great house. The house was comfortable, clean and as it appears in the pictures. The staff are so helpful and it is great to have the services of a cook (food not included) for breakfast. The location is fantastic. Communication with the host was very good and all went very smoothly.
I can highly recommend this as a great place to stay
Our stay was very good. The staff was warm, welcoming, helpful, and was very good about communication (including using alternates like What'sApp). We had significant privacy, but could ask for anything that we needed or wanted.
The house was matched up to the pictures and we found it very comfortable for two families. We had comfortable common areas, but privacy with the bedrooms.
The location is easily walkable to Ubud without all the traffic, and it is so much fun to walk through the Monkey Forest. At the end of the street was a small store to buy snacks and drinks as well as a restaurant where we had breakfast.
The only thing we had trouble with was getting taxis. The taxi stand in the village was often unattended, and as the driving route was significantly longer than the walking route so the fares quoted were high and drivers weren't willing to negotiate.
As we had a very late flight, the hosts let us stay at another property on the same lane. While is was smaller, it was beautiful as well
This is the second time we have stayed at this house. Just like last time we had an amazing time in this amazing house. It is in a great location in the lovely area of Nyuh Kuning, just the other side of the Monkey Forrest.
The house is open and airy and unlike most of the new accommodation in Bali it is true to the Balinese style with timber construction, high ceilings and large open living spaces.
The main house is beautiful with its three bedrooms. The second house with its two other bedrooms is a bit older and more rustic, but still not bad.
If you love Bali and want to stay somewhere that does not look just like any villa in any other part of the world, stay here, you will not regret it.
The staff are lovely, and very helpful, but are very good at disappearing to leave you to enjoy the simple beauty of this lovely space.
We would and will stay here again, we believe that it is the best place in Ubud.
My family and I spent a week at Peter & Janet's villa as part of our honeymoon. We were 5 adults and 6 children, all of us had a wonderful time at the house, that was everything and more it promised to be. The location of the house is incredible! You are litteraly stepping into an oasis of peace and calm and you leave he hustle and bustle of Ubud behind. The open space living area is so cool, during the day, aswell as at night. The kids loved spotting bats and gecko's and Cookie soon became their friend.
This was definitely the best way we could have imagined staying in Bali!
Since Peter and Janet weren't around, Yoni was a most inviting and helpful host. She organised several daytrips for us and even had arranged for a birthday cake for our daughter the day of our arrival! (Thank you Yoni!) She definitely goes the extra mile to make sure everything is ok. Which is very much appreciated.
Khadek cooked us several sublime Indonesian dishes and made us breakfast. She is very sweet!
We had a wonderful time and hope to come back some day!
I never actually saw the house as there was a last minute change of plans and the house wasn't available, so Peter organised for us to stay at their friend's place (https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/611590?guests=6&s=FSy5). It wasn't quite as convenient in terms of bedrooms, but it was a beautiful house and Peter and Yoni were very helpful with coordinating the change. The view and pool were stunning, and Made the cook was lovely and cooked us a wonderful array of food.

We're a family of 5 from Canada living in Indonesia. This is our fourth year abroad and we don't know if we will ever leave! In 2011, we bought and renovated our dream house, in Nyuh Kuning, a neighourhood just south of the Monkey Forest in Ubud, where we now live.
Our three children (a teenager and twin tweens) attend the famous 'Green School' here in Bali, about 25 minutes away. Janet runs a magazine called Inspired Bali, as well as teaching various yoga retreats throughout the year. Peter is a former journalist turned entrepreneur, and is the cofounder of a coworking space in Ubud called Hubud. Come stay with us!
