Our stay at the JITF was lovely. It's warm, cozy, quiet, secluded, and close to all of the sites we wanted to visit. It had all the amenities anyone could want or need (with the exception of wifi/service, but we didn't miss it). We initially were supposed to stay at the Calla Lilly, but she upgraded us to the dome, since the cottage wasn't ready yet. Kate was very helpful and the communication went smoothly. We really appreciated her letting us know that most of Big Sur was inaccessible from the north due to the winter storms and double checked with us to see if we still wanted to stay at the JITF. Even though we didn't get to explore Big Sur, we still had a great time visiting nearby beaches, Point Lobos, and Carmel. It's Harbor Seal pupping season - a real treat! Also, the wild flowers were in full bloom. Sofanya and Star Lilly were very sweet and hospitable. The property elicited a feeling of warmth, welcome and trust. The wood stove is the best! It's a great place for families. I'm sure the summers at the JITF are divine !

Thank you Sofanya & Kate, for your accommodations, hospitality and warm welcome! Our stay was pleasant, relaxing and extremely enjoyable. You were so kind in everything that you did- starting the fire for us to ensuring we had enough lighting when the electricity went out! We hope to revisit your wonderful, cozy place soon.

Cozy and quiet cabin, tucked away in the redwood forest, short drive from a beach and many Big Sur lookouts. The wood fire stove was fun, and worked very well to keep the room warm in the evenings while we painted (using the supplies Sofanya provided). We cooked a few meals in the kitchen, which was well stocked with pans and utensils. What a nice way to relax!

What a magical little retreat! Sofanya's cottage was the perfect getaway for the weekend. Very friendly property manager showed us the ropes upon arrival, which we were so fortunate for since we arrived after dark. Note: there was a recent flood that caused damage to the road leading up to and around the cottage, so if you've got a 4WD, definitely recommend bringing it. I was unaware when I booked (maybe I overlooked it?) that there would be other guests on the property. There are a few cottages that can be rented. While this initially caused pause for me, we never ran into or even saw anyone else, so you could call it private. There is also no wifi, but that was totally fine for us as they have an extensive DVD and book collection to choose from. All in all, a wonderful stay and would highly recommend!

Response from Sofanya:
Thank you Felicia for your stay during winter stormy time! I know it can be both magical and challenging at times...a true experience of forest nature living. I love winter sometimes extremely peaceful, other times dynamic, or just lovely with rain bringing more life and freshness. You're welcome to visit again during any season....they're all wonderful! I am so pleased to welcome guests to stay here at my "Jewel in the Forest" with choices for several very "glamorustic" magical houses and cottages. It is so rewarding to know that people can come here to stay for a vacation, business trip or even a retreat for healing and leave with wonderful peace and memories and a desire to come back!

I am an artist so Blessed to live and work in this paradise forest in between Big Sur and Carmel.
I'm inspired by the knowing that each of us are nature and not separate from it. This is the basis of my art and healing work. People often ask me what kind of art I make and the truth is "Life is the Art"!
I work in many mediums and love the exploration and discovery of art as a medium for the universe of knowledge to come through the paintings and sculpture. I have for many years enjoyed welcoming people from all over the world into my gallery & studio here on the "Jewel in the Forest" property. We also have a small area I call "Carabella's Theatre" where we hold seasonal gatherings, weddings, workshops etc. I am so pleased to welcome guests to stay here at my "Jewel in the Forest" with choices for several very "glamorustic" magical houses and cottages.
