The Space

Hello everyone! Come stay with us at our sweet little guest house in Ubud. Great for couples, families, and solo travellers, the guest house has room for four. Outdoor kitchen with fridge toaster, oven and sink ,and is nestled at the end of a quiet street in the friendly neighbourhood of Nyuh Kuning. The property is a five-minute walk to Ubud's famous monkey forest, and from there, a ten-minute walk into central Ubud.

The guest house is set on a private part of our property, next to our organic vegetable garden, and has it's own entrance (we share the main gate). It has an outside sitting area, a private bathroom with an outdoor shower, a fridge, a sink, and wifi. You are also welcome to use our huge salt water pool (which is empty all day while our kids are at school). There is also a badminton court, and lots of room to roam.

During your stay with us, we're happy to suggest things to do, places to see, and interesting people to meet. Some of our favourite things in Ubud are yoga classes, mountain biking, and visits to some of Bali's incredible temples. We can also connect you a local driver, or help rent a scooter. We'll even hook you up with a baby-sitter if you want a night off from your kids!

The room has a queen size bed and teak bunk beds, both which have mosquito nets. The room has AC. There is car parking if needed.

We're an active Canadian family of 5 - three boys, the oldest age 15, and twins age 10. Four years ago we relocated to Bali, and have been enjoying the change of pace and fresh air ever since. We love Bali, and love meeting new people, so thought we would put our guest house up for rent. Come stay with us!

  • Stayed here for 3 nights with my SO. Had great contact with Peter & Yoni (property manager & main contact) before and throughout the stay.

A lovely & tranquil oasis just a few min walk from Monkey Forest. We had our own private bungalow with a a queen bed & bunk bed, outdoor shower, & small kitchenette area. Access to the outdoor pool. Clean facilities.

Loved the location of the place, and just a 15-20 min walk to downtown Ubud. The small town the home is located in is nice with good food options. Wasn't as busy as downtown Ubud & full of locals, not too touristy. Walk through Monkey Forest is easy (as long as you don't have bananas)! At night we walked along the scooter path back home. Not a problem, just remember to be cautious & carry a torch at night.

There had a hand drawn map with restaurants highlighted in their area as well as downtown Ubud. We also had a cell to make local calls. Yoni doesn't work weekends but we were able to call her to ask questions and arrange a driver for half day trip to see some temples and rice terraces. Also arranged pickup & drop off to airport & other parts of Bali at competitive prices.

Wonderful & relaxing stay overall, just what we were looking for at the end of our Asia trip. Would definitely be back if ever in Bali & Ubud area again. They also rent out their main home and it looks amazing. Recommend!

  • I feel really privileged to have been able to stay at Peter and Janet's tranquil property. My stay was exactly what I needed. Janet, Peter and Yoni, the manager are all very friendly, welcoming and helpful. All the worries in the world are just left behind the moment you step through the double-door entry and wander down the pebbled pathway to their little oasis. I especially loved the outdoor bathroom, alfresco dining and full use of the relaxing pool. I was certainly appreciative of the supplied filtered water, village map sketch and the local mobile phone. The village was also very peaceful and the people were truly beautiful, everyone is just so happy, friendly and helpful. Everything about my stay was truly amazing and I look forward to returning in the not too distant future :)

  • A stay at Peter is the closest I've felt to being back home in a while. Peter and Yoni's place is cozy, homely and brings alive that hearty mirth of a cheerful Canadian home. Peter was very patient and took my booking last minute. I got the full use of his guest house, which I would strongly recommend for families traveling with children. They have a stacked bunk bed. The guest house had a kitchen and was self-sufficient. They even have a hand-drawn map of the town and was handy even for a person who's been to Ubud many times.

Their home overlooks an amazing rainforest valley. The neighborhood is really quiet, very tidy and adequately appointed with a few very nice restaurants. The proximity to the Monkey Forest was great.

Peter and Janet are warm hosts. We had lively conversations about Airbnb, Balinese culture, yoga, publishing and Indonesian politics. They were very attentive and even loaned me a laptop charger, a life-saver for work.

Anyone looking to find a friendly, easy-going family with an unreal view and terrific location. Look no further, you've found what you're looking for here.

  • Thanks a lot to Janet and Peter, we had a very pleasant stay at their place. As we arrived late at night with our two little children, Peter was waiting for us and brought us some food for dinner - this is what we call hospitality! The house and the pool was the perfect place to start our Bali holidays. The huge pool is great - clean and always refreshing, we loved it. Thanks also to Manager Yoni and all of the staff - they very pleasant, helpful and friendly. Room service was excellent. The tropical garden of Janet and Peter is lovely and well kept. The surrounding of nyuh kuning is very nice and quiet. We can definitly recommend this place to everybody and would love to come again!

  • Staying at Peter's villa is a real splurge. It seems we had the whole house with us with kitchen and even juice in the fridge. Everyone had been so friendly and helpful, especially for Yoni. Peter checked in with us everyday to make sure we were comfortable. A local cellphone & the pool were big plus. Despite most of the reviewers said better not to walk through the little path of Monkey Forest at night, we had no problem at all. Just make sure you bring a (strong) torch and walk slowly on the side of the road. Of course no food in hands to avoid attracting monkeys. In short, we surely hope to come back again. Thanks again to Peter, Yoni and other staff to make our stay in Ubud a very enjoyable one!

  • Peter and Janet's guesthouse is fantastic! This was a perfect fit for us (2 adults & 2 boys). The pool was great way to cool off every afternoon. We loved the outdoor kitchen- much better than a hotel when traveling with kids. Yet the best part was how welcoming, friendly, and helpful Peter, Janet and their kids were. They really made our time in Ubud wonderful. We will recommend this place to anyone we know traveling to Ubud.

  • We really enjoyed a few days relaxing at this wonderful house in Ubud. It's clean, comfortable and a short walk to the main areas through the Monkey Forest. There are good restaurants and spas within a few minutes walk of the villa too.

Peter, Janet and the staff are tremendous hosts and really made sure we knew what to see and where to go and how to get there, they were quick to help organize anything we needed.

Green School
Janet is a magazine editor and yoga teacher, and Peter is a cofounder of Hubud, Ubud's coworking space.
We're a family of 5 from Canada living in Indonesia. This is our fourth year abroad and we don't know if we will ever leave! In 2011, we bought and renovated our dream house, in Nyuh Kuning, a neighourhood just south of the Monkey Forest in Ubud, where we now live. Our three children (a teenager and twin tweens) attend the famous 'Green School' here in Bali, about 25 minutes away. Janet runs a magazine called Inspired Bali, as well as teaching various yoga retreats throughout the year. Peter is a former journalist turned entrepreneur, and is the cofounder of a coworking space in Ubud called Hubud. Come stay with us!
