This home is named The Sound House by our family who has owned this property for over 45 years. A major renovation opened up the interior in 2008 giving it a wonderful open space environment that truly maximizes the views! This is a very comfortable home located among the trees and is easily within walking distance to a convenience store/gas station (The Scotchman), a neighborhood sports bar (Whiskey Creek Sports Bar)!!
The Sound House is only 10-minutes from two major grocery stores and shopping; 20-minutes from historic downtown Wilmington and located 15 minutes from family-friendly Wrightsville Beach and the fun and festive Boardwalk at Carolina Beach! Drive to Fort Fisher or the NC Aquarium or just spend your days enjoying the wildlife of Whiskey Creek from the deck or the hammock in the backyard...
It is our pleasure to share this property with you when we are not using it - why waste such a great place if someone needs a place to stay or get away - we hope it serves your wants and needs while visiting Wilmington. Welcome!
Neighbors are long time residents...all willing to be of service if you were to need assistance. Mr. and Mrs. Currier on the left and Mr. and Mrs. Dusenbury on the right looking toward the street...

Oh and feel free to eat anything that is there!

Welcome to the Sound House~~
This home is used as a second home for our family so not your traditional "beach rental" which means some of our belongings will be there but shouldn't be in your way - please be respectful. You are welcome to make yourself at home and use the amenities, play the games, read the books, watch the dvds, use the kayaks...basic reminders include:
~ Great time to stop smoking since our home is a "No Smoking" home or property or a $500 fee will be assessed.
~ We love animals but at the Sound House we have a No Pets rule - but don't worry you'll enjoy all the sea birds and jumping fish to keep you company.
~We can't share the motorboats, but you can use the kayaks of course.
~You may see wine in the basement on the wine rack - please don't drink anything "signed" by friends or visitors who were generous. And if you do drink an unsigned bottle, please replace in kind or better! :o) Oh and don't forget to "Sign It" with the sharpie marker!! More fun that way...
Please ensure when you arrive and when you leave you read through the SOUND HOUSE book we usually have sitting on the counter for our visitors. It talks about things like - taking out the trash and recycling (pick up is on Fridays); bringing the hammock into the downstairs kitchen when you leave; making sure you put things back like you found them...who to call if you have questions, etc.
We hope you enjoy our second home and treat it as you would your own with tender love and care - call us at any time with questions or concerns - and most importantly, relax and enjoy the view.....
Whiskey Creek is beautiful and the house and its garden are a little paradise. Highly recommend especially to Europeans (great coffee machine) and families with kids who love nature!
Fantastic place, better than described. Great hosts and thoghtfully appointed home. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Nicoa was a welcoming host and communication was great. The house was well appointed with lots of space and great views. The openness and kitchen were great. The lower level was somewhat disappointing as it was older and musty. The shower downstairs did not work, but to be fair, we did not contact them, I'm sure they would have fixed it if they knew. The neighborhood was quiet and convenient.
Nicoa and her local partner Ginny were very welcoming and responsive! The house was exactly as pictured/described. Our group loved the spacious and relaxing decks and backyard, and immediately went kayaking. The rooms were clean and well appointed. The location was a quiet neighborhood with convenient access to grocery stores, 20 minute drive to the beach, 20 minutes to downtown. Would definitely go back!
Beautiful, relaxing home at the end of a cul-de-sac. Really enjoyed the yard and the space! Also took advantage of the outside fire pit to grill meat and veggies for our group - delicious, and the kayaks! Felt right at home. Thanks for hosting!
This place is awesome! Nicoa was wonderful to work with and very hospitable. Would definitely stay again!
I arrived at the Sound House on Thursday afternoon and I didn't leave until the last possible second my reservation was up. The house is perfect, with so many amenities and features that it continuously surprises and delights, giving me no reason to ever think about leaving. Nicoa was a wonderful host: very easy to communicate with and full of tips and advice on how to get the most of your stay. So much character in this house that I truly felt home. Would go back in a heartbeat.
Our family loves the water, loves being at the beach and can't wait to come to Wilmington as often as possible. I especially love using The Sound House as a retreat for myself, my girlfriends and for my colleagues for working retreats!! Soooooo relaxing, soooooo perfect. It is perfect as a getaway ... with or without family -- whatever YOU need!
