I had a great experience staying here while on business in Oakland. The unit is small but perfect for one or two people, and very private. Gene was great and responded quickly to all emails and messages. The bottle of wine was also a nice touch, too.
The area is quiet and residential, with some restaurants nearby. If you are planning on traveling into downtown Oakland though, it's about a 15 min drive.
Highly recommend staying here if you are looking for something quiet and comfortable!
I have stayed at the yellow door studio before, and absolutely love it. It is charming, parking is easy, the commute to where I work was the opposite of traffic, and if I ever wanted to travel into SF it was never too far of a trip. Gene is always helpful and responsive, and I have truly enjoyed my time here.
We so enjoyed our stay in Oakland as the accommodations were so comfortable and we really felt at home. Extremely well thought out space that provided everything we needed. Only suggestion would be to change the bed to a queen size. We look forward to making this our home whenever we come to visit our daughter who lives minutes away.
The perfect place to stay in Oakland. If anything, the studio is even more attractive than the photo. Everything you need is there--perfect size for one person or a couple. Gene even left a bottle of wine and a note to welcome me. The house is on a quiet, pretty street that was full of flowers and trees in bloom for spring when I stayed there in late March-early April. The host's directions were clear and east to understand. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
We had a great experience at Gene's yellow door studio. The studio was warm and inviting, and we really loved the gas fireplace after a long day of exploring San Francisco. Gene and his wife were very friendly and accommodating, and we would definitely stay there again.
Wow! When someone asks me what Oakland is like and the words "cozy" and "inviting" come out, it's a direct reflection of my stay at Gene's studio. From the moment I arrived, I felt safe and welcomed at this location. Gene was easy going and always accommodating to answer any questions I had. I can not praise this place enough for the cleanliness, coziness, and prime location in terms of transit time to SF, Berkeley and Dublin area. The flexibility allowed me to explore even more of the area, and I was able to cook most all my dinners at home- a great thing for someone who travels every week! This was a wonderful place to stay.
