The newly remodeled studio apartment is in the quite upper Dimond neighborhood. It is less than 20 minute drive to San Francisco, Oakland, or Berkeley. It is less than a 15 minute walk to restaurants, banks, public transit, great La Farine Bakery, grocery stores, Peets Coffee and Tea. Great for visiting the Bay Area while staying in a quite neighborhood.
The apartment is a well lighted ground floor unit below our house with a separate entrance. The ceiling has been sound insulated to reduce noise from above. The bathroom has a shower. You have washer/dryer privileges and Wi Fi access. The studio has a gas fireplace, refrigerator, microwave, 4 burner gas stove with oven, 42 inch TV, Ipod/Iphone alarm clock/speaker and coffee maker. Full sized bed sleeps 2.

This home was so lovely and cozy! Upon arrival my boyfriend and I were so delighted that we had everything we needed and them some! (Extra blankets, space heater, coffee, and they even left us some pastries for our arrival. Parking was very convienient and right in front of the house and very close to everywhere we needed to be (downtown Oakland and Berkeley). The little studio was so cozy that we actually decided to make our meals (the grocery store is right down the street) instead of going out for most of our time there.
Was a great host. He meet us as we arrived and made sure we were comfortable. The space was even better then we had expected. It was warm, welcoming and very clean. Loved the private bathroom and glass enclosed shower.
We have told our family that this is the place to stay when they visit the Bay Area in May (2015). Thanks for the the breakfast on our first morning (rolls and coffee).
This single room, with separate bath, yellow door abode is a very nice place to stay. Conveniently located by car to all of the greater Bay Area, it is just minutes from the Oakland Airport and local attractions. It's in a nice residential location in the Oakland Hills. Gene, your host, is pleasant, thoughtful, and willing to make sure your stay is delightful. Don't hesitate to contact him.
Had a fantastic stay here. The studio is just as pictured - cute and cozy (working fireplace, books etc) and also stocked with essentials (dishes, wine glasses etc). A bottle of wine was waiting for us - a nice touch. The house itself is on a quiet street, and is close to the town area for groceries/bakeries etc. Above the studio is the family's actual house but you have complete privacy. We used this as a base to go to the berkley area and to explore the hipper spots in oakland. Beats a hotel for the value for sure - would recommend for similar trips. Thanks Gene!
Very much enjoyed my stay. Everything I needed was nicely organized in a convenient welcome package and the stay overall was great. The studio is tucked away in a quiet part of Oakland hills, but not too far of a drive over to SF. Overall I had a great stay and really liked the area.
As usual I felt like a welcome guest. there was a wreath on the door, coffee and breakfast pastries waiting for me. A very warm and comfortable place for me to stay.
This was our second week-long stay at the Yellow Door Studio. We will definitely stay there again when we return to Oakland to visit our family. The neighborhood is quiet and attractive; the apartment is cheerful and looks exactly the way it does in the photo (that shouldn't be surprising, but sometimes the photo and the reality don't match). We were very comfortable there.
My wife and I have lived in the upper diamond district of Oakland for over 12 years. We have three children and 6 grandchildren that also live within 10 minutes of us.
