About This Listing
My apartment is on the third floor of a three flat brick building on a quiet tree lined street in Edgewater. It was built around 1920 in Prairie style featuring high ceilings, amazing woodwork and stained glass all of which have been restored. I'm a big fan of flea markets and antique stores so my home is filled with beautiful curiosities. My boyfriend calls it "The museum" but don't let that scare you :) The place has a really comfy and peaceful vibe. It is spacious and open in the way that one can stand at one end of the apartment and see through to the other end. There is an enclosed sunporch in the front of the house which offers a serene view of the tops of trees. The bedroom I can offer has a comfortable double bed and a most prized Eastlake antique dresser with egyptian pharaoh head drawer pulls.
P.S. I usually do not accept requests without a good amount of information about the guests. So please write a detailed profile and put up some pictures. If there is more than one guest include pictures of both people. Thank you!
Guest are welcome to use the kitchen and refrigerator. Also feel welcome to make yourselves at home in the rest of the apartment.
The location is really prime as it's a 4 block walk to either Granville or Loyola redline train stations as well as 6 blocks to the lake. The neighborhood is really lovely and down right lush with trees and flowers (when weather permits) Although Edgewater is a 30-45 minute train ride downtown, there is something to be said for staying here and getting a taste of a real Chicago neighborhood. Staying downtown is great in many ways but it is the typical tourist view and you will not experience what I consider to be the real heart of Chicago where the regular folks live. There are two antique malls, a couple of great coffee houses and restaurants all a short walk away.
I would ask that my guests come in and out quietly after 10:00 pm and especially ask to respect the antique furniture with no water glasses or things that might scratch the surfaces. Also, please do not forget to return the keys. Thanks!
This was the first time I've used Airbnb, and I don't think I could have picked a better host. Felice was a delight, and was incredibly welcoming and kind. The room was great and comfortable, and the house was so beautiful. The neighborhood was lovely, too, and there were so many things right within walking distance. Felice was so knowledgeable about the neighborhood, and all of her suggestions were perfect. All in all it was a fantastic experience, and I highly recommend Felice to everyone.
This was our first time staying with an Airbnb listing, and we couldn't have asked for a more positive experience. We have traveled to Chicago quite a few times over the last six years, and had previously always stayed in hotels.
Felice is a wonderful and gracious host. We felt welcome and she made every effort to make certain that our stay was enjoyable, and we had several enjoyable conversations with her. Felice made certain to provide parking stickers for the area (important in Chicago), and we had no problems finding parking (almost in front of the building).
The apartment was as described, clean, wonderfully decorated and comfortable. The location is perfect for visiting the Edgewater/Rogers Park Neighborhoods, and especially convenient for visiting Loyola University (we we there for graduation).
We highly recommend Felice's Stained Glass Apartment.
Felice is an incredible host. It has been my first experience with Airbnb and she has made me feel like home. She is always friendly and knows incredible places to go in Chicago.
Her house is incredible, she has so much taste. I really love the vintage style, so I felt comfortable there very fast and all the activities she does makes it always an interesting place to be. The neighbourhood is very safe and nice and you are just beside the train and bus, so the mobility is never a problem.
I totally recommend this airbnb for the ones that want to visit the windy city, you won`t regret it!
Felice was a gracious host. We enjoyed meeting and talking to her. She has restored her condo back to its original 1920's state with painstaking attention to detail. Her furnishings and décor complement the house perfectly. All very fun to see! The guest bedroom is very comfortable for two. The neighborhood is great, with easy walking access to shops and restaurants on Devon, just to the north. I would highly recommend this airbnb for your next trip to the north side of Chicago!
We were busy for much of the day we were to check in, and Felice kept in touch with us, so we could determine a good check-in time. Her third-floor apartment is lovely, filled with interesting art and eclectic furnishings--and it was enjoyable to sit in the living room and chat with Felice. She had some great suggestions for restaurants, and we took her up on one in Evanston, which turned out to be really nice.
My words will attempt to describe how great my experience was with Felice..
I had the privilege of staying with Felice for 5 weeks. This was my first AirBnB experience, but Felice sets the bar very high. She was a remarkably kind and helpful host, doing everything in her power to make my stay as comfortable as possible- I in no way expected her to go the extra mile the way she did. She was accommodating to my ever changing check-in time due to travel delays, gave great suggestions with her expansive knowledge & love of the city, baked her delicious scones my first day, and made her home available to me as if my name was on the lease. She even helped me find a few solutions for my car troubles during my stay, and even referred me to a mechanic friend.
The room, like her home, was cozy and well decorated, comfortable bed, beautiful kitchen, and it was really nice being able to use their on-site washer/dryer. Her home is in a beautiful part of town, minutes (walking) from Granville train station. Parking was a concern of mine, as I drove to the city, but Felice showed me where there was free parking close to her home, and gave me permit parking passes whenever necessary. Though I was very busy during my stay, and didn’t see her as often as I would have liked, Felice was warm with good conversation whenever we crossed paths, and even offered me to use her bike & to go for a lakeside bike ride, which I was unfortunately unable to do due to my schedule. I’m looking forward to my return to Chicago, and I’m crossing my fingers she will have availability. Felice is a gem, as an AirBnB host, and a person!

About the Host, Felice
I am currently on a new path=which really means I lost my job and I want to try something different. I have done quite a bit of international travel and hope to do a lot more. I love people. I am a stained glass artist, card maker and writer. I am obsessed with postcards. I'm really in love with Chicago and although I've lived here my whole life I continue to discover new treasure!
Some things that I love: Writing, reading, bicycling, coffee, trying different types of food, yoga, movies, old cemeteries, art museums, photography, vintage postcards, pen pals, architecture, antique markets, folk art, tiles, decorative metal, wine, beer, and a well crafted cocktail and of course, traveling!!!
I believe good things can come from seemingly bad things: the symbolic opening of a new door.
I strive to be present, recognize beauty, project love, and be extremely grateful for my life. Each person I meet reinforces my belief in a world full of love and kindness and every new friend makes it a better place. Traveling has been my most valuable education.
Places I have traveled: Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Monaco, Morocco, Netherlands, Peru, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, Wales
