About this listing
Charming apartment (65 square meter) in the center of the historic city of Salzburg with a romantic garden. The beautiful apartment (3 rooms) in the more than 700 years old town house in heart of Salzburg (Nonntal) in one of the old quiet little streets, is spacious with light-flooded rooms just a stone's throw away from the famous castle „Festung Hohen Salzburg“. The house, a historic building an therefore protected, is part of the historic city and UNESCO World heritage. It is also close to Stift Nonnberg where the Trap families „Sound of Music“-story begun. The apartment is newly renovated.
Room no 1 is has a desk and wardrobe, Room no 2 also looks out over the garden. This room has a couch that can also be used as a double bed , the next room ist the cosy and fully equipped kitchen (e.g. coffee machine, dishwasher). The kitchen offers space for 4 persons to eat but of course you can also enjoy your meals in the lovely garden complete with colourful planters an apple tree and herbs and a fantastic view two both the city and the magnificent mountains of Salzburger Land. The large bedroom with king sized bed and wardrobes that provide plenty of space. Next is a small bathroom with shower and toilette.
The apartment ist the ideal base from which to explore the beautiful City of Salzburg and the surrounding area. After a few minutes' walk you'll find yourself in the heart of the town – next to the Cathedral, the famous Festpielhaus (festival hall) and Mozart´s birthplace. Bus stops and public transport (Buses to other parts of the city – Mirabell Garden, main station, aiport or places nearby – e.g. Hellbru) is in walking distance (2 min) Bakery, Bank, Super Market, Restaurant, Bar and a traditional Austrian Coffee shop is between 300 meter walking distance!
The appartment is nicely situated, clean and simple. Furniture is part IKEA, part antique, the two "white" carpets need a clean-up. If you travel with children, they have to sleep in the bedroom and the parents on the sofa-bed in the living, which is quite uncomfortable. The kitchen is not sooo well-equipped, the dishwasher doesn't work well. The garden is mini and more or less part of the cellar.
Very nice accommodation! Spacious apartment, comfortable beds. Amazing views. And a very short (and pleasant) walk to the city centre. Too far to walk to the train station, though. Overall, highly recommended.

We really enjoyed our stay at Marco's apartment. It has lots of good energy, and is wonderfully located in an historical part of Salzburg, near the Hohensalburg fortress. Mme Foitiou, Marco's grandmother, did our check in. She lives in the same building, and kindly offered us her help for anything we should need. I would surely recommend Marco's place to any friend that would come to Salzburg, and hope to stay there again.
Everything was wonderful. Granted, the apartment has quirks (most notably the small bathroom) but it so gets the job done. The location is great. The short walk to the old town area is less than ten minutes and if you take the upper path, you'll stop along the way to take pictures each time. The building is said to be 700 years old. At first I was skeptical of this but the as we learned how it is situated at the base of the hill where the the fortress above dates back to the 1071 - all of a sudden, this apartment being in a bulging that in some ways dates back to the 1300's is totally plausible. Sooooo, enjoy ducking through some doorways, realize the floors may lean a bit here and there while you also enjoy the Alps through the windows, hearing the bells from the local churches from all around and walking up a pathway to where parts of Sound of Music was filmed. This place was a perfect stay in Salzburg for the three of us. (Mom and dad with 22 year old daughter.). We would return to rent this same apartment beyond any doubt.
