About this listing
Our updated vacation home is perched on a hillside with breathtaking mountain views! The home is ideal for two couples or a small family who are looking for a peaceful getaway at a stylish chalet with all the modern conveniences.
PLEASE NOTE: Narrow uphill driveway not ideal for full size/oversize vehicles. 4wd recommended in winter conditions.
Our renovated 1960s cabin is nestled between trees with extraordinary unobstructed PANORAMIC views of the mountains and ski slopes! The cabin is small at appx 1000 sf. But the bright and open floor plan upstairs makes it easy for everyone to be together, and large windows and open beam vaulted ceilings bring nature indoors. Throw a log on in the stone fireplace, stare out the window at the incredible views, and enjoy eachother's company. At night, star gazing from the deck will take you away. Enjoy cooking in the modern kitchen with stainless appliances or do some grilling on the deck while breathing in the fresh mountain air! A perfect and cozy getaway without having to sacrifice modern conveniences.
2 small but cozy bedrooms are downstairs, where they stay toasty and warm due to central heating. Bedroom 1 has a queen memory foam mattress and a log frame bed. Bedroom 2 also has a queen memory foam mattress on a log frame bed, and an additional twin roll-away bed stored in the closet. There is one jack-and-jill bathroom downstairs that is shared between (and accessed from) the two bedrooms - the layout is odd because one bedroom is closer to the sink and shower, and the other bedroom is closer to the toilet and laundry, but a door separates the two areas so both rooms have access. Upstairs there is also a full bathroom with tub upstairs next to the living room. There is a sectional sofa that is probably more comfortable to sleep on than the rollaway bed, if you have a 5th guest.
Features: Flatscreen HDTV with smart Blu-ray player accessing our FREE digital movie library or other online content such as Youtube, Pandora, and your accounts with Netflix, Hulu, etc. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook up a storm. Linens and towels are provided. Other features include views from all rooms, deck with charcoal BBQ grill/smoker, wood burning fireplace, washer/dryer, microwave, dishwasher, wireless high speed internet, DVD & VHS in one bedroom, speakers for your ipod/computer in living room, jacuzzi bathtub, board games, and foosball table.
Your well-behaved and house-trained pooch is welcome with a $20 pet fee. The front deck is a great perch for Fido to survey the neighborhood and watch the birds and squirrels. But be advised the back yard is not fenced and the neighborhood is sometimes visited by coyotes. Don't leave your pet unattended.
The uphill driveway can park 3 cars in tandem. At 108" wide between wall and railing, it is difficult for full size trucks and SUVs to maneuver and unload. 4wd recommended during winter conditions and low clearance vehicles not recommended due to steep approach from street. Ask if you're unsure whether your car will be suitable.
Guests will have full access to the entire home and its contents.
Interaction with guests
This rental property is managed by-owner, not by a rental agency listing hundreds of cabins. We are very detail-oriented and dedicated to ensuring your enjoyment of our home. You will have direct 24/7 access to us remotely via email or phone/text during your stay. We will make every attempt to address issues and concerns that may arise and can arrange for onsite services as necessary. Our home is cleaned after each guest by a dedicated husband and wife couple who are insured, trusted, and consistently provide excellent service. Our home is not serviced by a cleaning company who sends someone different each time. We believe these things set us apart from other rental properties in Big Bear.
Located in the Moonridge neighborhood, guests will love the peace and quiet, mountain and treetop views, birdwatching, moonrises, and stargazing.
The Treehaus Chalet is close to it all and easy to find. Just a short drive or walk to Bear Mountain shuttle (approx 1/2 mile away), 1 mile drive to the Bear Mtn parking lot, minutes from grocery stores, and within a few miles of Snow Summit and the quaint Village. It's easiest to get around by car, but Big Bear does offer MARTA bus and weekend trolley service, with nearest stops along Moonridge Dr.
Other things to note
The Treehaus Chalet is a registered private home rental, inspected annually for your safety, and operated by a business licensed in the City of Big Bear Lake. Nightly rate and cleaning fee includes city required 8% TOT tax and 3% TBID tax.
2 night minimum stay required. 3 night minimums apply to major holidays. Please inquire about discounts for last minute or extended stays (7+ days).
Snow removal is provided before your arrival, but guests will need to shovel if it snows during their stay. Street parking is not permitted in the winter as it blocks the snow plows.

2 night minimum stay required. 3 night minimums apply to major holidays.
Smoking is prohibited.
Absolutely no candles will be permitted due to fire hazard. Fires are only allowed in the fireplace or BBQ. Never leave the fireplace or BBQ unattended - there must always be someone upstairs in the living/kitchen area when either the fireplace or BBQ are being used. Use fireplace screen at all times to prevent embers from escaping fireplace.
New city rules require hosts to personally check-in guests to verify identity and ensure that the max occupancy is not exceeded. The person who reserves the property must be the person checking in and will be responsible for all other guests in group. You may also be required by host to provide vehicle information.
Big Bear is a mountain environment and weather conditions can change rapidly. Treehaus Chalet owners are not responsible for cancellations due to weather and road conditions. Always be prepared during winter for possible chain requirements and icy road conditions. In winter, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND you arrive before dark so you can get settled and enjoy a worry-free evening by the fireplace. Guests who arrive late during the winter may encounter long delays and/or icy roads, which can be impassable for some vehicles. 4wd recommended in snow conditions.
Your well-behaved dog is welcome with a $20 pet fee for each dog. We just ask that you bring a crate for potentially anxious dogs if they must be left unattended, as we do not have a fenced yard. You must also clean up all pet waste and notify us of any accidents so that we can help you address them. I'm sorry but we do not permit cats.
Big Bear does not provide curbside trash removal for vacation rentals due to the tendency to attract pests/wildlife when home is vacant. Therefore, upon checkout please take all of your trash to the nearby disposal site located at 41970 Garstin Drive. Failure to remove trash will result in a minimum fee of $25. If you wish, you may pay for trash removal service.
1. Please turn lights off inside and outside.
2. Remove all trash inside and pick up all pet waste left in yard
3. Wash all dishes or load and run dishwasher
4. Remove food from refrigerator
5. Close all windows and lock back door
6. Lock front door using code provided by host

Hello travelers! We live in Los Angeles and work in the architecture and advertising industries. To escape the daily grind, we enjoy peaceful getaways with our staffy dog and seek out the road less traveled. If we aren't camping in the solitude of the backcountry, then we enjoy staying at private home rentals during our travels to get a more personal experience that a hotel can't offer. We respect the properties we rent as we hope others will respect our own. Our enthusiasm for art/design/travel/nature is reflected in our mountain retreat in Big Bear Lake, CA, which we happily offer for your next getaway.
