Our updated vacation home is perched on a hillside with breathtaking mountain views! The home is ideal for two couples or a small family who are looking for a peaceful getaway at a stylish chalet with all the modern conveniences.
PLEASE NOTE: Narrow uphill driveway not ideal for full size/oversize vehicles. 4wd recommended in winter conditions.
Our renovated midcentury cabin is nestled between trees with extraordinary unobstructed PANORAMIC views of the mountains and ski slopes! Bright and open floor plan makes it easy for everyone to be together, and large windows and open beam vaulted ceilings bring nature indoors. Natural stone wood-burning fireplace will be a focal point for your gathering. Throw a log on the fire, stare out the window at the incredible views, and enjoy eachother's company. At night, star gazing from the deck will take you away. Enjoy cooking in the modern kitchen with stainless appliances or do some grilling on the deck while breathing in the fresh mountain air! A perfect and cozy getaway without having to sacrifice modern conveniences.
Features: Flatscreen HDTV with smart Blu-ray player accessing online content such as Youtube, Pandora, and your accounts with Netflix, Hulu, etc. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook up a storm. Linens and towels are provided. Other features include mountain views from all rooms, deck with charcoal BBQ grill/smoker, wood burning fireplace, washer/dryer, microwave, dishwasher, wireless high speed internet, DVD & VHS in one bedroom, speakers for your ipod/computer in living room, jacuzzi bathtub, board games, and foosball table.
Bedrooms are downstairs, where they stay surprisingly toasty and warm due to central heating. Bedroom 1 has a plush queen mattress and a log frame bed. Bedroom 2 also has a queen log bed, and an additional twin roll-away bed stored in the closet. Upstairs there is a sectional sofa that could easily sleep 2 more people. One bathroom with tub is upstairs next to the living room, and one jack & jill bathroom is downstairs with shower and is shared between the two bedrooms.
Your well-behaved and house-trained pooch is welcome. The front deck is a great perch for Fido to survey the neighborhood and watch the birds and squirrels. But be advised the yard is not fenced.
The uphill driveway can park 3 cars in tandem. At 108" wide between wall and railing, it is difficult for full size trucks and SUVs to maneuver and unload. 4wd recommended during winter conditions and low clearance vehicles not recommended due to steep approach from street. Ask if you're unsure if your car will be suitable.
Guests will have full access to the entire home and its contents.
Interaction with Guests
This home is rented and managed by-owner, not by a rental agency listing hundreds of cabins. This means that you will have direct 24/7 access to the homeowner via email or phone during your stay; however, local concierge services cannot be offered. We will make every attempt to address any issues and concerns you have and can hire onsite services as necessary, but cannot offer alternative accommodations.
Located in the Moonridge neighborhood, guests will love the peace and quiet, mountain and treetop views, birdwatching, moonrises, and stargazing.
The Treehaus Chalet is close to it all and easy to find. Just a short drive or walk to Bear Mountain shuttle (approx 1/2 mile away), 1 mile drive to the Bear Mtn parking lot, minutes from grocery stores, and within a few miles of Snow Summit and the quaint Village. It's easiest to get around by car, but Big Bear does offer MARTA bus and weekend trolley service, with nearest stops along Moonridge Dr.
Other Things to Note
The Treehaus Chalet is a registered vacation rental, inspected for your safety, and licensed by the City of Big Bear Lake. Nightly rate and cleaning fee includes required city hotel tax of 8%.
One night stays will be considered with additional $50 rent. 3 night minimums apply to major holidays. Please inquire about discounts for last minute or extended stays.
Big Bear is a mountain environment and weather conditions can change rapidly. Treehaus Chalet owners are not responsible for cancellations due to weather and road conditions. Always be prepared during winter for possible chain requirements and icy road conditions. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND you arrive before dark so you can get settled and enjoy a worry-free evening by the fireplace. Guests who arrive late during the winter after a recent snowfall will encounter long delays and icy roads, which can be impassable for some vehicles. 4wd recommended in snow conditions.
Your well-behaved dog is welcome with a $20 pet fee for each dog.
Big Bear does not provide trash removal for vacation rentals. Therefore, you must take all of your trash to the nearby disposal site located at 41970 Garstin Drive. Failure to remove trash will result in a minimum fee of $25 per bag. If you wish, you may pay for trash removal service.
1. Please turn lights off inside and outside.
2. Remove all trash inside and outside
3. Wash all dishes, empty dishwasher and put away
4. Pick up all pet waste left in yard
5. Close all windows and lock up
6. Leave keys in lock box
Eric and Sara's home is absolutely wonderful! The views of the slopes from the balcony are incredible! It's just a short distance from the two major shopping areas of Big Bear and is really convenient but in a quiet tucked away neighborhood. The house itself is clean and cozy. They offer awesome extras like a movie library, great resources of restaurants and attractions, and fireplace. The appliances are new and the beds are comfy! In addition, Eric and Sara are very gracious hosts who sent us an email on our check in date to make sure everything had gone smoothly and to recommend some star gazing. We had the absolute best time and fell in love with Big Bear. We will definitely be returning to the area and to this home!!
We had an amazing vacation! The views and tranquility were my favorite part of the trip! Sara was an excellent host.
Very nice place
Ideal location for getting up to both mountains and town centre
Has everything you could possibly need for your stay
Host was attentive prior to visit and provided lots of useful information. Responded quickly to our questions and kept in touch throughout our visit providing several contact details for any eventuality - we had no problems or issues at all but felt confident that if there had been this would not have caused any worry. Would highly recommend the property to anyone visiting. Thank you for our stay
Amazing time at the Treehouse a Chalet!! I decided to book this trip for a quick getaway to get back to some snow and winter fun. This house was the perfect destination for it! Close to everything with beautiful slope views! The house itself is really adorable and totally unique. If you want that ski lodge experience - this is the house to visit! My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. Thank you Eric and Sara for accommodating my booking - I would love to come visit again and would highly recommend your home to others :)
Sara was a wonderful host from beginning to end. We had detailed instructions on everything in the house and Sara was extremely responsive to all of our questions. The listing description and photos are very accurate, but still fail to do justice to the beautiful view.
We had a great time at Treehaus Chalet. Sara and Eric were very welcoming hosts. They responded to our questions via e mail and text in a timely manner. The Treehaus Chalet add was very accurate and the accommodations were as described. The neighborhood was nice and the house and views were awesome.
The Treehaus Chalet was just as described. Cozy, clean, and welcoming. It was perfect for our family of four, as there are two queen size beds. We would definitely stay again. The driveway is challenging, as stated, but manageable. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!
We work as directors in the architecture and advertising industries in Los Angeles, but we call Long Beach home. Since our professional lives can get hectic, we enjoy peaceful getaways with our dog and seek out the road less traveled. If we aren't camping in the solitude of the backcountry, then we enjoy staying at private home rentals during our travels to get a more local experience that a hotel can't offer. We respect the properties we rent as we hope others would respect our own. Our enthusiasm for art/design/travel/nature is reflected in our mountain retreat in Big Bear Lake, CA, which we happily offer for your next getaway.
