About this listing
Our updated vacation home is perched on a hillside with breathtaking mountain views! The home is ideal for two couples or a small family who are looking for a peaceful getaway at a stylish chalet with all the modern conveniences.
PLEASE NOTE: Narrow uphill driveway not ideal for full size/oversize vehicles. 4wd recommended in winter conditions.
Our renovated midcentury cabin is nestled between trees with extraordinary unobstructed PANORAMIC views of the mountains and ski slopes! Bright and open floor plan makes it easy for everyone to be together, and large windows and open beam vaulted ceilings bring nature indoors. Throw a log on in the stone fireplace, stare out the window at the incredible views, and enjoy eachother's company. At night, star gazing from the deck will take you away. Enjoy cooking in the modern kitchen with stainless appliances or do some grilling on the deck while breathing in the fresh mountain air! A perfect and cozy getaway without having to sacrifice modern conveniences.
2 bedrooms are downstairs, where they stay surprisingly toasty and warm due to central heating. Bedroom 1 has a plush queen mattress and a log frame bed. Bedroom 2 also has a queen log bed, and an additional twin roll-away bed stored in the closet. There is one jack-and-jill bathroom with shower downstairs that is shared between the two bedrooms. Upstairs there is a sectional sofa that could easily sleep 2 more people. There is also a full bathroom with tub upstairs next to the living room.
Features: Flatscreen HDTV with smart Blu-ray player accessing our FREE digital movie library or other online content such as Youtube, Pandora, and your accounts with Netflix, Hulu, etc. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook up a storm. Linens and towels are provided. Other features include views from all rooms, deck with charcoal BBQ grill/smoker, wood burning fireplace, washer/dryer, microwave, dishwasher, wireless high speed internet, DVD & VHS in one bedroom, speakers for your ipod/computer in living room, jacuzzi bathtub, board games, and foosball table.
Your well-behaved and house-trained pooch is welcome with a $20 pet fee. The front deck is a great perch for Fido to survey the neighborhood and watch the birds and squirrels. But be advised the back yard is not fenced.
The uphill driveway can park 3 cars in tandem. At 108" wide between wall and railing, it is difficult for full size trucks and SUVs to maneuver and unload. 4wd recommended during winter conditions and low clearance vehicles not recommended due to steep approach from street. Ask if you're unsure whether your car will be suitable.
Guests will have full access to the entire home and its contents.

Sara and Eric's cabin was perfect for the getaway that I was looking for. It was a great place to do work, meditate, and relax. The view was my favorite part, along with the comfy couch and open kitchen.
A fire started in big bear the day of my arrival and Sara was very responsive and helpful in making sure it was still okay for me to come up.
This is such a wonderful host! Sara emailed us information about all that we needed in order to have an absolutely wonderful stay.
The house sits on a steep driveway so it was hard to park the car (we have a 2-wheel-drive)so we ended up parking on the street below the entrance but that was totally fine.
The View and living room/kitchen area is to die for! Its breathtaking to make breakfast and walk out on the balcony and stare right our over the three tops and slopes.
We will definitely be back!
Thank you Sara and Eric!
Sara & Eric were great! They provided us with all the information we needed and checked in with us to make sure everything was good. The cabin is great too! Awesome space, and wonderful views.
Eric and Sara where the perfect hosts. Sara was in constant communication from reservations and throughout our stay. The house was perfect and had beautiful views. Everything we needed was on hand which made for a very relaxed vacation. We very much enjoyed our stay at the Treehaus Chalet.
Thoroughly enjoyable, great location, beautiful home, fantastic setting. Would definitely stay again...
Absolutely beautiful location and great cabin! The cabin was clean, quiet, and well stocked. We enjoyed our two night stay in Big Bear. We hiked Castle Rock and kayaked around Boulder Bay park. The cabin was great to return to for making dinner, cleaning up, and relaxing. There was a little bit of a sugar ant issue in the kitchen but it was minor. We kept all our food in the fridge to prevent the issue from getting worse. We hope to return in the winter when there's snow!
About the Host, Sara & Eric
We work as directors in the architecture and advertising industries in Los Angeles, but we call Long Beach home. Since our professional lives can get hectic, we enjoy peaceful getaways with our dog and seek out the road less traveled. If we aren't camping in the solitude of the backcountry, then we enjoy staying at private home rentals during our travels to get a more local experience that a hotel can't offer. We respect the properties we rent as we hope others would respect our own. Our enthusiasm for art/design/travel/nature is reflected in our mountain retreat in Big Bear Lake, CA, which we happily offer for your next getaway.
