*Our neighborhood within NYC is called Astoria. It is a hidden gem in the New York NY metropolitan area. We are located in a serene and very SAFE neighborhood. It is a wonderful and interesting neighborhood.......
Astoria is very close to midtown Manhattan and so it is an ideal location in which base yourself to enjoy and explore NYC. This is especially true for our house because we are so close to a major subway stop and subway line.
Astoria is known as a "Greek" community (people from Greece live here). Our area of Astoria is a vibrant mix of greeks, italians, "hipsters", midsters, oldsters, brazilians, yuppies, japanese, chinese, and just about everyone else in the world is represented. It is fun and interesting to be mixed into the multi-cultural atmosphere.
Astoria is a small town atmosphere that is very close to Manhattan.
Astoria is loaded with restaurants, bars, clubs, and shopping galore. Just about anything that you would want to buy you can find it here. Marshalls and many other discount retailers are very close to our house also.
Our neighborhood is considered to be one of the most "up and coming" and popular neighborhoods in NYC.. People often describe Astoria as the east part of Midtown or the east side of the east side of Manhattan. Astoria is a much sought after neighborhood. It is easy and fun to walk around Astoria and soak in the many different subcultures of people groups within Astoria. You will find authentic and inexpensive restaurants from literally all over the world. There are coffee shops, pubs, bars, clubs and parks galore.
It's fun here.

* The 46th st. station for the subway trains (R and M lines) is less than a block away from our house so it is easy access to the NYC subway system. From the 46th st. station, it is approximately a 15 minute subway ride (4 stops) to the first stop in Manhattan (the Lexington station).
It is relatively easy to park your car in our neighborhood.

Other Things to Note
*We have much more peace and calm in our neighborhood than you will find in Manhattan but we are very close proximity to Manhattan.
*Our backyard has a porch and patio area and a garden. The sun hits the back porch nicely in the a.m.
The beds are ikea beds. We have only heard positive comments about the mattress quality
*2 Ikea beds with a queen size mattress (for two people each). Plus there is 1 Ikea twin sized bed (for one person). So there are 3 total beds.
*We have a small refrigerator, a sink, a microwave, a toaster and an electric kettle in your room. And we provide the linens and towels.
We also provide a hair dryer in the apt.

The flat itself was fairly priced and clean. It has a lovely garden with a small table if you fancy eating outside.
Very quiet but safe area, it is very close to the metro, with good connections to Manhattan.
Dennis is a great host, he kept our luggage on the last day and was very flexible with our departure time.
I would recommend this place if you do not mind a slightly longer commute (15 mins on the train, depending on location) and you want to save compared to a more pricey Manhattan.
This was a great spot, close to the subway, plenty of space in the apartment, nice quiet safe neighborhood. I took the subway back at 1am on a weekday and felt perfectly safe. I would absolutely stay here again, thanks!
Not so cute, not so quiet, not clean at all! My experience was awful. The bathroom is old and was not clean. I had to bought cleaning products and cleaned it by myself. Also his 3-years-old child run all the time literally in your head. And you cannot complain. I had to heard that people usually do not go home before 9pm (the time that the kid goes to bed). I do not reccomend this place for anyone.
