New York NY
*Our neighborhood within NYC is called Astoria. We think Astoria is a hidden gem within the New York NY metropolitan area. We are located in a serene and very SAFE neighborhood. It is a wonderful and interesting neighborhood.......
Astoria is very close to midtown Manhattan and so it is an ideal location in which base yourself to enjoy and explore NYC. This is especially true for our house because we are so close to a major subway stop and subway line.
Astoria is known as a "Greek" community (people from Greece live here). Our area of Astoria is a vibrant mix of greeks, italians, "hipsters", midsters, oldsters, brazilians, yuppies, japanese, chinese, and just about everyone else in the world is represented. It is fun and interesting to be mixed into the multi-cultural atmosphere.
Astoria has a unique small town atmosphere but located very close to Manhattan.
Astoria is loaded with restaurants, bars, clubs, and shopping galore. Just about anything that you would want to buy you can find it here. Marshalls and many other discount retailers are very close to our house.
Our neighborhood is considered to be one of the most "up and coming" and popular neighborhoods in NYC.. People often describe Astoria as the east part of Midtown or the east side of the east side of Manhattan. Astoria is a much sought after neighborhood. It is easy and fun to walk around Astoria and soak in the many different subcultures of people groups within Astoria. You will find authentic and inexpensive restaurants from literally all over the world. There are coffee shops, pubs, bars, clubs and parks galore.
It's fun here.

* The 46th st. station for the subway trains (R and M lines) is less than a block away from our house so it is easy access to the NYC subway system. From the 46th st. station, it is approximately a 15 minute subway ride (4 stops) to the first stop in Manhattan (the Lexington station).
It is relatively easy to park your car in our neighborhood.

Other Things to Note
*We are located very close to Manhattan and we have much more peace and calm in our neighborhood than you will find in Manhattan.
*Our backyard has a porch and patio area and a garden. The sun hits the back porch nicely in the a.m.
The beds are ikea beds. We have only heard positive comments about the mattress quality
*2 Ikea beds with a queen size mattress (for two people each). Plus there is 1 Ikea twin sized bed (for one person). So there are 3 total beds.
*We have a small refrigerator, a sink, a microwave, a toaster and an electric kettle in your room. And we provide the linens, towels, a hairdryer and essentials like soap, shampoo and t.p.
We recommend our place for up to 3 adults but we can accomodate up to 5 adults if you don't mind being a bit crowded.
Our home was built in the late 1930's. We particulary admire American design from this time period so we have some vintage furniture from the 1930's in the apartment.

We are family of four who stayed for 4 nights at Denis's place. The house is less than a block to subway, which is very convenient. The area is quiet, but deli is just around the corner. Dennis is very nice, communicative and helpful. It is a great place to stay while in New York.
Dennis was a great host, very understanding, and gracious. Before we even arrived, Dennis helped us store our bags earlier so we can go see the sights. When we came back our bags were already in the room (magically!!). Dennis and Naoko left us cure notes on local places to checkout, which we did, and it was funtastic.
The apartment is private, spacious, in a safe/wonderful neighborhood (Astoria) with all one can ask for. Its in the hipster part of queens with a lot of eclectic cafes and restaurants. Its about 20 min subway ride to Manhattan and the subway station is very close to the house itself. Dennis also offered to store our bags after checkout. Overall we had an 5 star experience.
My mother and I felt like at home during our stay at Dennis' place.
The flat is in a safe neighborhood, very convenient to subway to Manhattan: the R and M lines are less than one black away, and in a few minutes you are in the centre of the world!
The beds are very comfortable and the flat is well equipped and perfectly clean.
Dennis is a great host, and his baby is so nice... I hope to come back to NYC and I would definitely stay again.
Location is good but if you want to bring your car, you need to move it everyday since the parking hours are all different on the street. Good experience. Thank you.
We had very pleasant stay at Dennis. He even helped us with reparking our car for street cleaning.
Good house with all essentials. Tidy and clean. Very convenient transportation and close to metro station. Good grocery stores nearby.
