16 Havelock Bed and Breakfast is your home away from home, we run a professional B&B and if I'm turning down your booking please understand that it's only because I don't have a room as we have become really popular this last Summer.
We aim to be your Home away from Home while your holidaying in "Taradise".
We offer three rooms that have been stylishly redecorated, you'll feel right at home in any of the three bedrooms we have on offer.
The best thing about our area is that we have a view of both Mount Taranaki(Egmont) and the Ocean. We are in a quiet Cul-de-sac right off the main road out of town so it's really easy access. The beaches to the west and the town center to the north are only a five minute drive.
If your staying in New Plymouth for pleasure or business, please consider staying at our place to get your fix of home while your away from home...
Want to hear more?
All our rooms are completely separate from each other so you'll never hear other guests. Each room comes with only the highest quality linen and imported Japanese Down Duvets for the colder months. Other highest quality commodities in each room include, flat screen TV/PC Monitor with Freeview, hair-dryer, personal heater, electric blankets, desk, chairs and writing materials and Royal Doulton towels.
The lounge is open to use at any time, large and spacious featuring an open fire and a luxuriously appointed Japanese electric massage chair.
The Kitchen/Dining area supplies complimentary tea and coffee 24 hours a day, with a selection of special treats on arrival.
Why stay with us?
As the old Kiwi saying goes, Location Location Location! We are just 3km south of the city centre, located high on one the largest hills in New Plymouth. Our North East aspect gives us shelter from the predominant southerly winds and views over the city, the ocean and of course our beloved mountain. Our quiet Cul-de-sac is just a couple of minutes walk from local shops and bus stops, with a reserve behind us it a picture of natural New Zealand beauty. Native trees in both the front and backyards ensure the native birds are constantly feeding and the bird songs are as relaxing as our home.
The harbour is at the foot of our hill, a 1km walk down one rather steep street! In the harbour area are protected swimming beaches and a couple of very nice restraunt/cafes overlooking the glorious harbour setting, our favourites being Gusto Restaurant and the Bach On Breakwater.
From the harbour starts the famous New Plymouth Coastal Walkway. Enjoy a coffee and a bite to eat then stroll the Coastal Walkway into the city centre, it is just one of New Plymouth's "must do" experiences and has to be experienced to really understand the pleasure it brings.
Your own private room. And the entire house is open for you to kick back and make the most of the relaxing atmosphere...
Interaction with Guests
We live in the house so interaction is as much or as little as you'd like!
We have stunning views of the Mountain and good views over the City and Ocean. The street is a quiet Cul-de-sac on one of the biggest hills in New Plymouth. Very quiet and peaceful neighbourhood.
There is a bus stop not more than a 200M from the front door but the local bus service is not very regular... It's a small Kiwi city!
We don't have many rules here at 16 Havelock.
The only really strict one we have is no shoes inside the house. It just saves tramping all that New Zealand dirt into the house...
Smoking outside only please.
Other than that, well, I guess you could say that "Make yourself at Home!" is our number two rule. Really, I mean your here to enjoy yourself, having fun is mandatory if your here on holiday is it not?
I stayed at Brad & Fujiko's for 2 nights and it was such a wonderful stay. The place was immaculate, and everything just seemed well taken care of and super clean! The bed was very comfortable, and the room/entire home is nicely decorated. I loved having a tv in the room as well - it's great to have on at night and see what's on. The breakfast consisted of delicious homemade bread (so good!!), spreads, juice, fruit, cereal, fresh eggs (super fresh! I didn't know until the last day that they had their own chicken pen!), every thing was so delicious. And don't get me started on how great the coffee was - it was better than many of the cups I've had at coffee houses! And they had a little setup in the kitchen so you are able to help yourself to water, coffee, tea anytime. But more than the breakfast, cleanliness, and the great space - what made my stay so memorable and terrific were my amazing hosts. They were just so welcoming and fun to chat with. Brad really has such a positive energy that it is infectious. And he and Fujiko gave me great recommendations on activities/places to eat that were just spot on. They let you do your own thing and give you your needed space as a guest, but at the same time, if you want to have a conversation or ask for advice on things to do, they make it feel very natural to do so! Thank you to the both of you! And I wish my stay was longer than 2 days! If I ever visit New Plymouth again, I would make a beeline to your b&b without a doubt.
Best place to stay in New Plymouth!!! Brad and Fujiko are amazing hosts and will make you feel so at home you don't want to leave. Facilities are tidy, clean and delicious - the view from their home is to die for and you are merely a walk from town and the beach. What more could you ask for.
I would thoroughly recommend staying at this fine BnB and will be returning when I go back to New Plymouth later this year for more studies. :)
Thanks for an amazing week. You two rock my cotton socks. :)
Very well organized, clean and comfortable. Yummy fresh breakfast, helpful information on local area and even extra help with a video tape project - great hosts!
After the airline lost mum's bags from Australia to Wellington, they had to be shipped to New Plymouth. Brad and his wife were very accommodating and made it a very stress free time. They have a very beautiful home and are located not in the city centre but not far at all from it; the location was perfect. Brad and his wife were incredible hosts and constantly ensured that mum and myself felt at home during our two nights in New Plymouth. Upon arriving at their home late at night due to the lost bags, they still provided great conversation with constant smiles, and they provided us with many ideas for sites to visit. Our visit would not have been nearly as good had we stayed at a hotel as they played a big part in making our trip to New Plymouth unforgettable. I will definitely recommend them to everyone looking to stay in New Plymouth. Thank you guys so much!
I had a great stay at Brad's bed and breakfast. I only wished I had stayed longer. The house and bedroom were spotless. Brad was very friendly and provided excellent advice for restaurants and places to see. Breakfast was excellent. One of the best airbnb experiences I had during my 6-week holiday in NZ!
Good stay for the price, with a friendly host and excellent breakfast with delicious homemade bread. There are three guest bedrooms with one shared bathroom. We were in a small but very quiet room. As we were travelling for nine weeks, we had a fair amount of baggage. We solved the space issue by keeping suitcases in the car parked on the road in their quiet cul de sac. WIFI reception was excellent! New Plymouth is a beautiful city and we enjoyed our stay.
Brad is a very cheerful host, always on the sunny side with mountains of chocolate;o) he and his wife has been very helpful and great hosts. there beautiful house with the very spacious rooms were spotless, incredible clean!! I loved the interior design of the rooms and bathrooms, it's beautiful decorated with a personal touch!Breakfast was brilliant freshly made eggs from the own chickens- yummy! can only recommend to stay at Brad's!
