Yuky is a nice host.
Apartment is perfectly located. Really good offer for this price.
I really enjoyed my stay at the room, part of a larger apartment which I shared with Yuksel and Onur. They are both extremely friendly and accommodating. The place is an extremely interesting part of town -- not only suitable positioned for transportation and access to key places, but also extremely interesting in the upper end of what is known as Voyvoda Street and then becomes Bankalar street closer to Galata. This is walking distance from SALT Galata and famous places such as Galata Tower, Persembe Pazari, Tunel and many other wonderful places in Istanbul. I can only recommend it extremely highly -- that is, if you want to experience the real life of Istanbul.
Yuky was helpful in his responses, and also helped me obtain private transportation to his place from Ataturk. He met the driver and walked me to the nearby flat, and helped me with my big bag up the stairs as well. The flat was comfortable and clean. Very nice bed, nice water pressure in the shower. The power went out briefly a couple times, NOT AT ALL my hosts' fault of course, but somewhat normal at times in Istanbul, I am told, and not really a problem (but realize that if the power is briefly out, there is also no internet or hot water). The flat is located in a quiet side street not far downhill a few streets from Galata Tower, perhaps a little hard to find if you don't know where you are going, I would imagine, but I had no problems. The area seemed very safe. During my stay I had 2 different friends visit me there in the evening time, and I am afraid that it was, unfortunately, an annoyance to my hosts, in spite of my efforts to be quiet as possible, for which I truly felt very sorry! So if you want to have your friends drop by and hang out with you, it will be better for you to get a private flat, rather than rent a room in theirs. However, we discussed the issue and it was resolved to everyone's satisfaction, I hope. When I became aware of their feelings on the matter, I did not have any more guests visit during the remainder of my stay, and so it was not a problem, I think. A lot of days we didn't really see much of each other, because we all stayed quite busy with our own schedules. Overall, I enjoyed being there very much. Be sure to visit Yuky's Velvet Cafe near the Tower, the tea and hospitality are really nice! Thanks again, Onur and Yuky!
Yuki was a loving and caring host. The flat is located perfectly and clean. I'd do it again!
Yuksel was an excellent host! He gave us excellent directions to his cafe which from there we had a short walk to the apartment. Onur and Bardem (the cat) were nice house mates but mostly we had the run of the flat.
Yuksel also had great local knowledge and showed us the sights of Istanbul and also some directions to a shoe repairer which would have been impossible had I attempted it myself.
Great little place hidden in a small street close to the Galata tower. Yuksel is very friendly. And he has opened a beautiful new cafe in the neighborhood called Velvet. Go check it out!
Yuksel's flat in Sishane/Galata was lovely and conveniently located. His friend Orion met me at the tower and showed me to the flat, and his recommendation of the nearby Cherrybean cafe was excellent. The little one eyed cat Bodum was also cute and playful. Istanbul is spectacular - I recommend a fresh juice and figs from the grocers around Galata, and sunrise on Galata Bridge.
We spent 10 days in Istanbul and enjoyed our stay in Yuksel´s appartment. The room was nice, the bed was good and so was the shower even if it is tiny. The cat welcomed us when we came home and it was easy to feel like at home in the appartment with access to both the kitchen and the living room. We can also recommend the neighbourhood close to the Galata Tower as a convenient location for tourists, between the new and the old Istanbul. We will tell our friends about this place as an option when travelling to Istanbul.
Yuksel and onur were the perfect hosts.the apartment is clean, very nice and perfect located!we had an amazing time in this great city, thanks again!
We had a wonderful stay in Istanbul thanks - amongs lots a things - to this cosy and nice room we had. Yuksel and Onur are very nice and friendly, they gave us all the informations and the confort we needed, feeling at home very quickly. The only regret is that we didn't have more time to exchange with them! Gatata is a great area, close to Istikal avenue and Taksim (great for restaurant, nightlife and shopping), easy and safe to come back walking at night. And you can also easily reach Sultanahmet by walking through Galata Bridge. Definitely a good option!
