The Space

I have a charming home in SW Portland that is filled with loving details, comfort and style. I have a passion for creating a warm, inviting environment where guests feel welcome and cared for. I am a native Oregonian and have an obsession with the local food scene, having been a chef at some amazing restaurants in town. I have a wealth of knowledge about what makes Portland special and have to say first and foremost it is the people. We are friendly and genuine and take a sincere interest in learning about others.

About the Room:
The room is so sweet and comfortable and it is one of my favorite rooms in the house. It has an Empire European bed that is cool and loaded with pillows and comfort (a hypo-allergenic custom made mattress), a comfy chair to read in, loads of books to read and botanical details. There is a shared bathroom on this floor that is equally charming.

I have towels, shampoo/conditioner and hair dryer available if desired.

*Please note that everyone who has stayed here has stated the bed looks much smaller in the photos than in person in case that helps, it is 73" long.

About the House:
The house has a formal living room, formal dining room, casual kitchen nook and kitchen which is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. There is an awesome new front load washer / dryer set in the basement. The backyard is really nice as I love to garden and have a three raised beds for growing veggies and herbs that you are more than welcome to enjoy. Internet is available but I do not subscribe to cable TV.

I have to say, one of the things I forget to mention but that I adore is having amazing water pressure with an unending supply of hot water. It is an amenity that should not be overlooked :).

The Area:
My home is ideally situated near Lewis and Clark College, OHSU, PCC, great shops, newly remodeled Fred Meyer, gourmet Market of Choice, Starbucks, multiple bus lines running 2 blocks away and is 5 minutes from downtown right off the Terwilliger curves on I5. I am also close to Tigard, Beaverton, an amazing Sunday Farmers Market co-op close by. There are lots of cute little restaurants in Multnomah Village and Hillsdale. The neighborhood is very safe, dog and family friendly. Street parking is always available.

Transportation Options:
By car, I am 7 minutes from downtown PDX and 4 minutes from OHSU.
By bus, I am 15 minutes from downtown and 10 minutes from OHSU, there are stops super close to the house.
By foot, I am 30 minutes from downtown and 20 minutes to OHSU. There are two helpful apps, pdxbus and trimet that allow you to purchase passes and gauge where buses are in relation to our stop. I hope this helps.

About Me:
I am a very creative woman and have many varied interests from gardening, reading, socializing with friends to welding. I enjoy having nice dinner parties but not crazy parties, I am 36 and beyond those years. I enjoy my home and enjoy going for dinner and movies. I love to cook and craft, I have a craft room downstairs in the basement I am happy to share.

Interaction with Guests

I am very social and enjoy building relationships but also respect privacy - I am really good about being flexible and creating unique experiences.

  • The room was as sweet and charming (and comfortable) as advertised, in a great location with a great hostess. Shannon was having a big birthday party at her home the weekend I stayed, but this was all communicated beforehand, and did not alter the privacy of the room. I did not interact a lot with her because of how my schedule turned out, but Shannon was friendly and welcoming and made sure I had everything I needed. This was my first experience with AirBNB, and it was an excellent start!

  • Shannon's house was very very pretty. The sweet room which I stayed have cutest pink colour wall, lovely bed,and beautiful lights! And everywhere else there are good yard and awesome kitchen. There is beautiful residential street in neighborfood of the house. It takes about 8min from nearest bus stop if you come from downtown.

The owner Shannon gave me some grate advices kindly. She is warm hearted.
I am grateful for her help. I could have fruitful experience in Portland!

  • I enjoyed the nice room at Shannon's house. Everything was as described, and is very comfortable. The location is outstanding ... close to downtown Portland, easy access from I-5, close to parks and shopping.

Shannon has done a very nice job of setting up her house to host guests, and her communication before and during the stay is excellent.

  • My experience at Shannon's place was really pleasant, and the location made it plenty convenient. It's exactly like you see it in the pictures and I found the bed and it's multitude of pillows to be very comfortable. I was initially concerned that it would be too small - I'm 184cm tall and it was just nice.

Shannon herself is also a treasure trove of information. Talking to a fellow traveler stricken with a severe case of wanderlust was good fun. Her plethora of excellent recommendations, especially where it came to food, bordered on making my guidebook and prior research superfluous.

Would definitely recommend this place, and seeing as I left many things on my to-do list unchecked (extraneous circumstances cut my stay in Portland short by a day), I'll certainly be trying to stay here when I find the time to visit Portland again!

  • Shannon is such a great host. My experience in Portland was perfect with Shannon's advice and hospitality. She really knows the city and are more than willing to help visitors to know more about the city. She even drove me to a Thai restaurant (The best Thai food I've tasted in North America) and market to get fruits. The house is located 15 min away by bus from downtown, a perfect choice for solo traveler. Thank you so much Shannon!

  • My stay with Shannon exceeded my already high expectations. The neighborhood was safe, close-in and residential. Portland has many wonderful neighborhoods and this one is established with that historical charm. My room was exactly like the picture...so it was perfect! My host added greatly to my getaway experience by sharing her knowledge of Portland with me and entertaining me with several humorous stories. If I wanted complete privacy she would have faded into her life. I have discovered my perfect get-away and will positively be returning to Shannon's.

  • Shannon was a fantastic hostess. Everything was exactly as expected. Her home is superbly located in a nice quiet part of SW Portland. I would stay with her again in a heartbeat. Shannon also knows a ton about the area...if you need a locals perspective, she is the one to go to!

Can't wait to see her again!

  • My stay with Shannon was ideal for a solo traveler. She was welcoming and friendly and super accommodating of my late night arrival from New York. She also gave amazing recommendations for local places to eat and have coffee. A rare native Portlander, she knows the area inside and out, so she's the perfect guide for visitors. Not to mention a true gourmet and great conversationalist. I could not have asked for a better experience!

  • I stayed with Shannon for three weeks while looking for permanent housing in Portland. Shannon is so welcoming and was a great host. The bed is incredibly comfortable and the location is great, it's very easy to get into downtown Portland on the bus. Shannon is from Portland and she knows this town extremely well and will give you lots of suggestions regarding cool areas to explore and restaurants to try.

I am an outgoing woman interested in new experiences and living life to my fullest. I am passionate about art, design, food, travel and friendships. I have a love for animals and had a Weimaraner that was the love of my life. I enjoy gardening, welding, international/art and documentary film. I have traveled to many places and have the bug again to travel more in the near future which is the only reason I have not brought another furry beast into my life. I look forward to meeting new people on this journey....
