I have a charming home in SW Portland that is filled with loving details, comfort and style. I have a passion for creating a warm, inviting environment where guests feel welcome and cared for. I am a native Oregonian and have a passion for food having been a chef at some amazing restaurants in town. I have a wealth of knowledge about what makes Portland special and have to say first and foremost it is the people. We are friendly and genuine and take a sincere interest in learning about others.
About the Room:
The room is so sweet and comfortable it is one of my favorite rooms in the house. It has an Empire European bed that is so cool and loaded with pillows and comfort (a hypo-allergenic custom made mattress - I am waiting for updated photos to share), a comfy chair to read in, loads of books to read and botanical details. There is a shared bathroom on this floor that is equally charming.
I have towels, shampoo/conditioner and hair dryer available if desired.
*Please note that everyone who has stayed here has stated the bed looks much smaller in the photos than in person in case that helps, it is 73" long. I am thinking of retaking the bed pic to give better perspective.
About the House:
The house has a formal living room, formal dining room, casual kitchen nook and kitchen which is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. There is an awesome new front load washer / dryer set in the basement. The backyard is really nice as I love to garden and have a three raised beds for growing veggies and herbs. Internet is available but I do not subscribe to cable TV.
I have to say, one of the things I forget to mention but that I adore is having amazing water pressure with an unending supply of hot water. It is an amenity that should not be overlooked :).
My home is ideally situated near Lewis and Clark College, OHSU, PCC, great shops, newly remodeled Fred Meyer, gourmet Market of Choice, Starbucks, multiple bus lines running 2 blocks away and is 5 minutes from downtown right off the Terwilliger curves on I5. I am also close to Tigard, Beaverton, an amazing Sunday Farmers Market (email hidden)-op close by. There are lots of cute little restaurants in Multnomah Village and Hillsdale. The neighborhood is very safe, dog and family friendly. Street parking is always available.
By car, I am 7 minutes from downtown PDX and 4 minutes from OHSU.
By bus, I am 15 minutes from downtown and 10 minutes from OHSU, there are stops super close to the house.
By foot, I am 30 minutes from downtown and 20 minutes to OHSU. I hope this helps.
I am a very creative woman and have many varied interests from gardening, reading, socializing with friends to welding. I enjoy having nice dinner parties but not crazy parties, I am 36 and beyond those years. I enjoy my home and enjoy going for dinner and movies. I love to cook and craft, I have a craft room downstairs in the basement I am happy to share.
All of the home amenities.
I am very social and enjoy building relationships but also respect privacy - I am really good about being flexible and creating unique experiences.
It is really central to getting around throughout Portland - easily by car and then by bus! The neighborhood is rich with neighbors who have all lived here 20-30 years and are generations of friends. It has a good vibe and a grocery and coffee shop within walking distance.
Street parking with ease, regular buses and the neighboring hood has Car2Go's.
My stay with Shannon was ideal for a solo traveler. She was welcoming and friendly and super accommodating of my late night arrival from New York. She also gave amazing recommendations for local places to eat and have coffee. A rare native Portlander, she knows the area inside and out, so she's the perfect guide for visitors. Not to mention a true gourmet and great conversationalist. I could not have asked for a better experience!
I stayed with Shannon for three weeks while looking for permanent housing in Portland. Shannon is so welcoming and was a great host. The bed is incredibly comfortable and the location is great, it's very easy to get into downtown Portland on the bus. Shannon is from Portland and she knows this town extremely well and will give you lots of suggestions regarding cool areas to explore and restaurants to try.
Shannon has a great house and she is a great host. She has a roommate and another guest staying at the house. I talked to them and they gave great suggestions on where to go in Portland. The room is very cozy and everyone made it feel like I was just one of their housemates.
Shannon is a wonderful and helpful host. The room is definitely charming and provided for all my needs. I also greatly appreciate the use of her Kitchen, and her offering of vegetables from her garden. When I have anymore massage workshops to attend in Portland, I definitely will be staying there again.
Thanks so much to Shannon! After a long trip from Canada to Portland, Orgeon - I finally arrived at my Sweet Room in a very Charming Home, indeed! Shannon was most helpful - and the room that I enjoyed was perfect. If you need directions while you stay in Portland - Shannon is your guide! She provided very clear and easy directions - and I did not get lost. Her home is very central and public transportation is just a few steps away. There is a food store near by AND a Starbucks for all you coffee lovers. Stay with Shannon! She is awesome.
This room is absolutely wonderful. It's spacious and the bed is really comfy. The location is a bit out of the way, but the neighborhood is nice and it's certainly not difficult to get around. The whole house is just lovely and Shannon was one of the nicest people I met in Portland--very easy to communicate with. I only wish I could have stayed longer!
No surprises. Everything was as it was listed. Great location too. I would definitely return.
As pleasant as one could imagine.
Shannon's home was very laid back and easy flowing. The back yard was lovely for dinner and the location is safe and convenient! Thank Shannon et al. for a great stay!
Highly recommended! Shannon is an excellent host and I was very comfortable. The only thing I had a difficult time with was making myself get out of bed because the memory foam mattress was SO comfortable.
