~ ALOHA! ~
Come spend time in this supercharged, elemental power spot -- with TuTu PELE, the Goddess of the Volcano, here in my wonderful, Magical Sanctuary on the Lava.
Gorgeous Kalapana has arguably, the best weather on the island -- sunny, dry, breezy, and almost NO MOSQUITOS! Located conveniently near Pahoa (15 min drive), as well as Uncle Robert's (Wonderful market on Wed nights!), Kehena Black Sand Beach (swim with dolphins!), Kalani Retreat Center, Warm Ponds, TidePools, etc.; yet very remote, peaceful, meditative and MAGICAL!
Here, we live with the elements -- you are surrounded by dramatic black lava fields, you have a front-row seat to Pele's Volcano Home, the ocean sparkles on the horizon, and there's always a cool windy breeze! So in the daytime, you can swim with dolphins at the Black Sand Beach (10 minutes away, and the ONLY beach on the Puna side), and at night you can sometimes watch Pele's fire coming down the volcano, underneath a gorgeous blanket of stars..
The Temple Loft is a unique, hand-crafted, two-story, off-the-grid, open-air loft, separate from our Main House (in the back, where we live). It was built mindfully, with Skylights, storm shutters in all directions, and a 360 degree view of Ocean & Lava, taking into account the intensely beautiful & powerful environment of Pele's home. So you can enjoy your epic view, yet sleep sheltered and peacefully.
The Temple Loft is open, spacious, and elegantly furnished. Queen size bed, Balinese altars & daybed upstairs; and a Canopy-style Opium Bed and Double Day Bed downstairs, etc. 1-5 people can stay here. You will have ample electricity, hi-speed internet, clean linens and towels, fully-stocked kitchen (with citrus juicer, Nutribullet blender, stove, fridge, tea, spices, etc), private pretty bathroom with hot shower & lava-stone floor, & flush toilet, considerate host, etc. : ) Perfect for yoga, writing, meditation, cleansing, hiking to the lava, or just a magical stay in Puna!
I will let you know about all the best local places to swim, surf, snorkel, hike, stargaze, shop, dance, etc. Beautiful, magical places to enjoy & visit -- such as the Mermaid Ponds, Kehena Black Sand Beach, Geothermal Warm Ponds, Tide Pools, Waterfalls, Live flowing Lava, Local Farmers' Markets, etc. as well as local events..
PeleMa has blessed me to be the Caretaker of this Sacred Sanctuary. I am joyous, kind, compassionate, considerate and respectful.

THANKS!!! : )
Jade and her 4 year old son Alakai, were so hospitable. We arrived late and Jade greeted us on the main road so we could follow her back from the Lava Temple. From there on she was a great host. Her son allowed our son to play with his toys, Jade suggested places to go visit, and even joined us on some of our adventures.
The Lava Temple itself is out of this world...literally - you feel like you are actually living in a temple on the moon. This because you are basically living on a dried lava dessert for miles on end with steam vents on the horizon. It's beauty is beyond words. The accommodation only takes one night to get used to. it's naturally ventilated and has no doors and only a couple of walls. This is the best part, and is very relaxing.
I would recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a different experience, one that will be memorable for ever!
Recommendations - You need to rent a car. This is a must. You should also pick up food and supplies on the way there because there isn't much around there that's open late. Try breakfast at Uncle Roberts (2 min drive away). It's amazing.
Jade will hook you up with the adventures: black sand beaches, hikes, warm springs, markets, volcanoes etc
Thanks Jade for the great great experience!
Jade has been a great host. She gave us all the info we needed, she welcomed us with some fresh coconut water, allowed our son to play with her son's toys and in general she made us feel welcome.
Coming from a big resort in Kona the lava temple is as different as you can go. It took a while to adapt to not having doors and windows and being surrounded by volcanic rocks, but it's definitely been a positive experience. Also, albeit being isolated, you can easily reach a lot of beaches and other nice places.
We loved our stay at the Magical Lava Temple! It was a wonderful peaceful uniquely desolate yet completely beautiful place. Life on a lava field has its own energy standing bare foot on the lava field you feel an energy flow through you connecting you to the earth. I have never experienced such a moving deeply connecting time to this planet as I did when we were there. The lava temple was a marvelous open air experience allowing you immense comfort while still being connected to the outdoors. We loved hearing the rainstorms at night and felt totally comforted in the cozy bed she had made. there is great care and love in how this place was put together. Jade was going to be traveling during our stay but was incredible communicating what to do and see. Our first night we went to a suggested party at Uncle Roberts it was a truly fun time and we saw the ocean on a newly formed black beach. Jade, her caretaker and friends were all so friendly filled with great warmth and hospitality. If you are looking to get close to nature, yourself, a loved one this a great place to be meditative allowing your mind to relax and expand and see the vastness of the lava fields, the shimmering star filled night sky and feel connected to the universe.
Anyone looking for a peaceful meditative spot to stay off the beaten path away from any tourist life this is your place you will love it and Jade and her caretakers will give great directions advice and offer help in anyway you need she was a great host! Mahalo!
Jade was a great host. Before coming she sent me a few recommendations about the activities and surroundings, and her guidance to reach the Lava Temple was precise and helpful.
She made me feel welcome instantly, and her kindness was a delight during my entire stay. I highly recommend this place for anyone who want to escape the tourist-heavy hotels, take a break from everything, relax in a surreal landscape. You really feel in a special place in the middle of this lava desert. Check it out!
Jade was an absolutely wonderful hostess, and the lava temple was an amazing place to stay. She was very happy to show us where to go in the area for both relaxation and entertainment, and was readily available by text or email to answer any questions we had. She even made us tea the morning after we arrived.
The lava temple is fantastic. As the pictures show, it's not a place to go for modern amenities and resort living, but if you want to be comfortably off-grid in a beautiful setting close to some of Hawaii's best spots, it can't be beat. Absolutely would recommend this place to others.
Jade was out of town when we arrived, but her directions were good and her caretaker greeted us warmly and gave us many suggestions for local things to do. There's a very good binder full of information about staying there. The place is truly out in the lava with little vegetation and strong winds which sound like water. We could close windows and minimize the wind inside. The stars were incredible and we saw a glow of lava flow on the distant horizon. This is off the grid and we knew that going in. The kitchen is basic, but there was plenty of tea, oil, spices, etc., the fridge on the small side, yet adequate. Loved the shower with lava rock as the floor. Once Jade got home she greeted us and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The drive from Jade's to the Red Road was short, and we drove out, enjoying the rougher surf, and eventually went snorkeling at the tide pools. We would stay here again. Make sure you have the gong sound healing while you're there.
We spent 5 days at the Magical Lava Loft Temple and found it hard to leave. It is a large spacious upper floor space with a kitchen and sitting area on the ground floor. It was interesting and fun to experience off the grid living - even through a very heavy, all night long downpour of a storm, we felt safe. The location is a great one - with a car you can explore Puna, travel into Hilo or up to the Volcano National Park easily with the Lava Loft as a home base/hub. We didn't meet Jade as she was away on family business, but her caretaker, Lindsay, was very helpful throughout our stay.
