Staten Island... the often forgotten borough of New York City. Just a 25 minute Ferry Ride to and from the City of New York! The Staten Island Ferry runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 Days a year (including all holidays) and is Free to get back and forth to NYC. You will also get to see unbelievable views of the New York City Skyline and Statue of Liberty while you are crossing over. Did I mention that the Ferry is Free??? Yes it is one of the best deals you will find in NYC!! Once you cross over to lower Manhattan you will find the Metro that will take you to anywhere you want in the City.
The place is located in the area known as Saint George and is about an 8 minute Metro Bus ride to the Ferry or if you are feeling up to it you could walk. The bus lets you off right on the corner. There are several buses that travel this route so the wait is minimal. I suggest you check out (website hidden) to find approx travel times and distances from our apartment which is located at the corner of Victory Blvd and Jersey St Staten Island, NY.
The room is located on the 2nd floor of our house and shares a bathroom with up to 6 other guests at any given time. It has beautiful hardwood floors and a full size bed that sleeps 2 comfortably. There is also a 25 " Flat Screen TV with basic channels... not that you will be spending much time in the room.
On the 1st floor you will find the Cafe... apart from the house with its own separate entrance. The Cafe is equipped with kitchen table, sink, dishes, pots & pans, full size stove, microwave, coffee maker and water cooler all at your disposal. There is a refridgerator as well.
The room is for low maintenance travelers. We are normally out and about. Guests that are happy staying with us are typically self-sufficient people who are able to troubleshoot and configure things such as TV, Internet, replace a light bulb, turn on heat and ac by themselves and unclog a toilet with a plunger as well as clean up after themselves. Of course things of a more serious nature will be handled promptly.
****Please note that this is a private room in our home where we live. If sharing the kitchen and bathroom facilities is not for you please consider other alternatives. This IS a safe, clean and economic alternative to pricey NYC and only 1/2 hour away.****
Interaction with Guests
This is our home. You will be living with us and sharing it with us however the rooms are private. We are normally out and about dealing with day to day hustle and bustle of life. Feel free to let us know if we can make your stay more enjoyable.
Please keep noise to a minimum when coming and going.
No smoking inside please.
The room was as described. Enjoyed my stay here. Jay was a very responsive host.
Close enough to the ferry and a bonus of some pretty good Sri Lankan restaurants nearby.
The experience I had staying with Jay& his family was incredible. My husband & I just got married & this was our honeymoon vacation ! We had so much fun ! This room was a perfect alternative to staying at a pricey hotel ! :)
Our experience was just great! The neighbourhood was nice, the house was beautiful and the room was nicer than we expected. It was really cosy, nice. Everything (bathroom, room and kitchen) was always clean, everything was exactely like described. And travelling by ferry had its speacial atmosphere, it goes every 30 minutes and in winter it is really awesome cause you can see the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan and the ice on the water....just pure beauty.
The communication with Jay was also great, he always answered immediately (on the phone or on the internet).
Amazing experience and very nice place. I would choose it again.
I feel very lucky that my first AirBnB experience was so amazing. The room was so comfortable and clean, and even with the other rooms being full, the bathroom was always tidied up and looked as if though no one had used it for the day. Even though some might say that the neighborhood isn't the best, the house is just steps away from the bus stop and I never felt unsafe, even when arriving back home late at night by myself. I didn't get to meet Jay, but communication with Jahaira was always very pleasant and quick. I would definitely stay here if I'm ever in NYC again.

My name is Jay and welcome to my home. I live here with my wife and son. We have a few spare bedrooms that we rent out when they are not being used. We love meeting different people from around the world and welcome you into our home. We speak Spanish and English fluently and love to learn new languages.
