The Space

Staten Island... the often forgotten borough of New York City. Just a 25 minute Ferry Ride to and from the City of New York! The Staten Island Ferry runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 Days a year (including all holidays) and is Free to get back and forth to NYC. You will also get to see unbelievable views of the New York City Skyline and Statue of Liberty while you are crossing over. Did I mention that the Ferry is Free??? Yes it is one of the best deals you will find in NYC!! Once you cross over to lower Manhattan you will find the Metro that will take you to anywhere you want in the City.

The place is located in the area known as Saint George and is about an 8 minute Metro Bus ride to the Ferry or if you are feeling up to it you could walk. The bus lets you off right on the corner. There are several buses that travel this route so the wait is minimal. I suggest you check out (website hidden) to find approx travel times and distances from our apartment which is located at the corner of Victory Blvd and Jersey St Staten Island, NY.

The room is located on the 2nd floor of our house and shares a bathroom with up to 6 other guests at any given time. It has beautiful hardwood floors and a full size bed that sleeps 2 comfortably. There is also a 25 " Flat Screen TV with basic channels... not that you will be spending much time in the room.

On the 1st floor you will find the Cafe... apart from the house with its own separate entrance. The Cafe is equipped with kitchen table, sink, dishes, pots & pans, full size stove, microwave, coffee maker and water cooler all at your disposal. There is a refridgerator as well.

The room is for low maintenance travelers. We are normally out and about. Guests that are happy staying with us are typically self-sufficient people who are able to troubleshoot and configure things such as TV, Internet, replace a light bulb, turn on heat and ac by themselves and unclog a toilet with a plunger as well as clean up after themselves. Of course things of a more serious nature will be handled promptly.

****This is NOT a luxury hotel located on Park Ave. This is a private room in a shared apartment. If sharing the kitchen and bathroom facilities is not for you please consider other alternatives. This IS a safe, clean and economic alternative to pricey NYC and only 1/2 hour away.****

  • I stayed the second time in this place when came in New York, because this is very comfortable and nice place in Staten Island. Greg and Rosa are good hosts.
    The room and house is clean, kitchen is fully equipped and location is great, because is situated near shops and ferry.
    I recommend this place for everyone, because this is nice room for good and affordable price in whole New York.

  • I like this place. It's good value for money. If next time I need to stay in NY for this budget I'd definitely choose this place.

    Pro
    * It really chip
    * It easy and chip to get to Manhattan. (20 mins walk to ferry + 30 mins by ferry. Ferry leaves every 30 mins).
    * It's rather clean
    * Has kitchen with all needed stuff. You can cook for yoursefl if you want.

    Cons
    * Noise isolation is poor. When you are in your bed you can hear like your neighbours open/close doors, taking shower, and walking on squeaking steps. Also you can hear as they are watching TV. Earplugs are solutions ))
    * Room is rather small, and lack of chair.

  • Pretty nice room to stay during your NYC trip or US visit. If you just want a place to sleep and you don't have a problem with a 25 minute ride to Manhatten - this is the place to go! Definately coming back! :)

  • The trips to manhattan were really charming by going on Ferry. If you manage to get on time for the departure of the Ferry (every half an hour) you enjoy the twenty something minutes of the travel trough the Hudson River without that much waiting. The room was nice, comfortable and clean. The Kitchen and the bathroom were ok always with supplies but definitely could be cleaner, even more if the people who used those would clean after themselves properly (we found dishes with rest of food in the dish rack). Terry was on time for our arriving and always available.

  • You get what you payed for.
    It was a very small room for a cheap price. It's exactly what is in the description.
    The room was clean, but the bathroom wasn´t. The bathroom is shared with 3 other rooms and each room is for 2.
    The dresser in our room was broken. The opening and closing of all doors is very loud, because they are distorted and need to be oiled.
    We didn´t saw Terry, because we were arriving from the JFK Airport and this needed more time than expected.
    There is a Bus stop nearby which takes you to the ferry very fast, about 5-10 minutes. The ferry needs about 25 minutes to the City.
    To your goal in Manhattan you should schedule 1 hour.

  • A great little apartment for seeing the city. The place is about a 15 minute walk from the ferry dock or a 5 minute bus ride. With free ferres running every 30 minutes (or 15 minutes at peak times) it's reslly easy to get to and from manhattan. Really clean room with towels and sheets, great modern bathroom and kitchen downstairs. The only funny thing is that you have to go downstairs, outside and next door to get to the kitchen. Apart from that quirk, a perfect (and cheap!) apartment for a trip to New York.

  • Had a great stay at Terry's. The room is very clean and has everything you need, it's not really big but for the price you pay its a great bargain.
    Terry is a great and very communicative host.
    Will gladly come here again!
