About this listing

Please note that this listing is NOT a private house or apartment. You will be sharing this house with me and my family as well as other guests. The house is not a multi dwelling residence (eg over 2 Family) and does not violate any laws or regulations recently enacted to curb certain airbnb rentals.

The space

Staten Island... the often forgotten borough of New York City. Just a 25 minute Ferry Ride to and from the City of New York! The Staten Island Ferry runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 Days a year (including all holidays) and is Free to get back and forth to NYC. You will also get to see unbelievable views of the New York City Skyline and Statue of Liberty while you are crossing over. Did I mention that the Ferry is Free??? Yes it is one of the best deals you will find in NYC!! Once you cross over to lower Manhattan you will find the Metro that will take you to anywhere you want in the City.

The place is located in the area known as Saint George and is about an 8 minute Metro Bus ride to the Ferry or if you are feeling up to it you could walk. The bus lets you off right on the corner. There are several buses that travel this route so the wait is minimal. I suggest you check out (URL HIDDEN) to find approx travel times and distances from our apartment which is located at the corner of Victory Blvd and Jersey St Staten Island, NY.

The room is located on the 2nd floor of our house and shares a bathroom with up to 6 other guests at any given time. It has beautiful hardwood floors and a full size bed that sleeps 2 comfortably. There is also a 25 " Flat Screen TV with basic channels... not that you will be spending much time in the room.

On the 1st floor you will find the Cafe... apart from the house with its own separate entrance. The Cafe is equipped with kitchen table, sink, dishes, pots & pans, full size stove, microwave, coffee maker and water cooler all at your disposal. There is a refridgerator as well.

The room is for low maintenance travelers. We are normally out and about. Guests that are happy staying with us are typically self-sufficient people who are able to troubleshoot and configure things such as TV, Internet, replace a light bulb, turn on heat and ac by themselves and unclog a toilet with a plunger as well as clean up after themselves. Of course things of a more serious nature will be handled promptly.

****Please note that this is a private room in our home where we live. If sharing the kitchen and bathroom facilities is not for you please consider other alternatives. This IS a safe, clean and economic alternative to pricey NYC and only 1/2 hour away.****

Interaction with guests

This is our home. You will be living with us and sharing it with us however the rooms are private. We are normally out and about dealing with day to day hustle and bustle of life. Feel free to let us know if we can make your stay more enjoyable.

Wow, my first experience of Airbnb and it was fantastic! The room I stayed was very nice, clean with fresh towels, comfortable bed and good wifi connection :) We stayed here for 8 nights, and had a great stay. If we ever come back to New York, we will go back here! Thanks a lot. Jay

This is great place for the money! There are four rooms in total for Airbnb guests. If you need a place to spend a night during visiting NYC, it is worth checking this one. It takes around 20 minutes to walk to ferry that takes you straight to Manhattan. There is also food store nearby. We enjoyed this place and would come back.

It is not really near by foot from the St. George Ferry. It took me more than 20 minutes to walk there. With the bus, I believe it is much faster. The bathroom was not clean when I entered. Perhaps the user had dirty shoes when they got in. There is not enough ventilation as well. No window inside the bathroom, although there is an exhaust I believe. What I like about the place is the kitchen. One could cook there without any disturbance because it is separate from the rooms. if you want a budget place, then this is an okay choice.

Nice place in a quiet side of Staten Island. It deserves for the time/price we stayed there. You must live along other guests that are in other rooms, so you need to clean up the common places to live in a comfortable site. The cheapest place in NYC and also you can see freely the Statue of Liberty twice a day if you go to Manhattan. Totally recommended.

Jay's place is very conveniently located at a 15 minute walking distance from the Staten Island Ferry. We really enjoyed taking the ferry every morning and evening as it offers an amazing view of Lower Manhattan and of the Statue of Liberty. Overall, everything was clean and the room was comfortable. Jay was quick to respond if we had any issues. We had a great stay in NYC!

This place was pretty good. Clean and basic. Everything you needed was there, efficient and for the most part clean. I didn't cook but I did check out the kitchen and it looked like it was in good working order. You can get to Manhattan in 40 minutes for the most part (faster during rush hour) as the Ferry runs like clock work from Staten Island. There were a couple of minor hick ups around hot water on one day and a little back up in the shower but overall it was clean, efficient and worth the money.
