The "Blue Door" Guest Studio is a self-contained two story loft/ studio located in one of Seattle’s most prestigious neighborhoods, North Capitol Hill. The "Blue Door" is a very special, comfortable and private little space that is connected to our detached garage. In its entirety, it is about the size of a hotel room but divided into two levels. The sitting room is on the ground level and the private entrance opens out to a beautiful shared courtyard with the main house. A very comfortable Queen sized bed is on the second level. Here in the bedroom you can enjoy a 32" flat screen TV with cable. The bathroom in the studio has a shower. The guest studio does not have a kitchen nor do we permit the use of a BBQ (due to insurance reasons) but the studio does come with wireless internet, a small refrigerator, microwave oven and off street parking. Please note, even during summer months most evenings in Seattle cool off and so most homes are not air conditioned. The guest studio is not air conditioned but does have a ceiling fan and good cross ventilation.
North Capitol Hill is known for its fabulous location within Seattle. We are just minutes away from both Downtown and the University District ... in fact we are two easy blocks from the #49 bus stop which will take you to both. On Capitol Hill, we are a seven minute walk to Volunteer Park and you will find numerous cafes, coffee houses, and stores located in both the 15th Street commercial area and the Broadway area; each about a 20 minute walk from the studio. If you are not into walking, you will appreciate your private off street parking space provided at no extra charge. We don't permit smoking inside (you may smoke in the courtyard) and we do not allow pets, although we do have two small dogs ourselves.
The studio is ideal for one person or a couple. It is not set-up to be child friendly. It is a fun creative space in an excellent neighborhood at a very reasonable price. We look forward to hosting your visit!
North Capitol Hill is a quiet upscale neighborhood where you will see people walking, running, bicycling, and out with their dogs 12 months of the year. Capitol Hill's Volunteer Park, with its Victorian Glass House, Asian Art Museum, and views of downtown Seattle and Elliott Bay is near by. Our neighborhood is approximately one mile from the commercial areas of Capitol Hill where you will find restaurants, coffee houses, stores, pubs and bars.
We are close to Interstate 5 and major avenues, and there is a bus stop approximately 2 minutes walk from us. The bus ride to downtown takes approximately 15 minutes.
Nine times out of ten, "house rules" are simply not necessary but due to a few unfortunate incidences, we need to spell out our expectations.
-No more than two people may sleep or stay overnight unless by prior arrangement with hosts. We ask to be notified if you are having any guest to the studio. If you have any questions about this policy, please ask.
- No scents to be used or applied anywhere within the studio. We have many guests who request a totally scent free environment.
-No smoking inside studio. Smoking in the courtyard is fine as long as smoke does not enter the studio.
-No cooking (except warming in microwave)
-Noise levels must be kept down at all times (we are located in a quiet residential area) The studio is NOT suitable for entertaining a group.
-The studio is not toddler friendly
-We don't want you staying with us if you are in anyway intoxicated beyond a moderate level. If you have any problem with this, PLEASE look to stay somewhere else.

- Check-out time is 11:00 am.

John and Craig have a magnicent place. I wanted something quiet where I could just read. The detached dwelling was perfect. The neighborhood was beautiful. Craig met me on arrival and instructions were easy about what to do. Summer and Fall would be gorgeous here. They have an outside garden area that would be lush and peaceful.
John and Craig were great hosts, communication was easy and they were most helpful. The studio apartment worked well for us and was quite comfortable. The location is good and close to public transportation.
My sister and I had a lovely stay at John and Craig's place it was nice and cozy. Everywhere we visited while in the city was a good short distance from their place, they provided us with some fresh drinks in the fridge which was very kind of them. Not to mention the bed it was super comfortable that was a plus for me considering I have a bad back. I would definitely consider staying here again on my next visit to Seattle.
John and Craig were great. They welcomed me, chatted with me, and made sure I was comfortable. The guest house is terrific and exactly as shown on AirBnB. The neighborhood is awesome and everything was in bloom when I was staying (lucky me). Of course, as others have stated, the location is great. The public transit was easy to use, however, it is very walkable to downtown. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Thanks so much guys!
The Guest Studio was very comfortable and a great location, great neighborhood! We were in Seattle for a wedding and had events in Capitol Hill, Downtown, the Market, Fremont and in Ballard and this was centrally located. There is a bus stop just a couple of blocks away that was convenient as well. The space was relaxing to come home to at night, it was easy to fall asleep at night - the bed is really comfortable and down comforter was great. The hosts were super helpful and friendly! Thanks for a great stay - love Seattle!
Craig was an extremely welcoming and friendly host. He made our stay in Seattle very comfortable and we would gladly come visit again!

My partner Craig and I have recently retired here in Seattle! We love our new city, house, and convenient neighborhood. The house we selected happened to come with a wonderful guest studio which we use often for our personal guests that come to visit. We also have a condo that we offer for short term rental in Phoenix. We are hard core Democrats, GOP friendly and welcome anyone who is fair minded!
