Thank you for your understanding.
The "Blue Door" Guest Studio is a self-contained two story loft/ studio located in one of Seattle’s most prestigious neighborhoods, North Capitol Hill. The "Blue Door" is a very special, comfortable and private little space that is connected to our detached garage. In its entirety, it is about the size of a hotel room but divided into two levels. The sitting room is on the ground level and the private entrance opens out to a beautiful shared courtyard with the main house. A very comfortable Queen sized bed is on the second level. Here in the bedroom you can enjoy a 32" flat screen TV with cable. The bathroom in the studio has a shower. The guest studio does not have a kitchen nor do we permit the use of a BBQ (due to insurance reasons) but the studio does come with wireless internet, a small refrigerator, microwave oven and off street parking. Please note, even during summer months most evenings in Seattle cool off and so most homes are not air conditioned. The guest studio is not air conditioned but does have a ceiling fan and good cross ventilation.
North Capitol Hill is known for its fabulous location within Seattle. We are just minutes away from both Downtown and the University District ... in fact we are two easy blocks from the #49 bus stop which will take you to both. On Capitol Hill, we are a seven minute walk to Volunteer Park and you will find numerous cafes, coffee houses, and stores located in both the 15th Street commercial area and the Broadway area; each about a 20 minute walk from the studio. If you are not into walking, you will appreciate your private off street parking space provided at no extra charge. We don't permit smoking inside (you may smoke in the courtyard) and we do not allow pets, although we do have two small dogs ourselves.
The studio is ideal for one person or a couple. It is not set-up to be child friendly. It is a fun creative space in an excellent neighborhood at a very reasonable price. We look forward to hosting your visit!
North Capitol Hill is a quiet upscale neighborhood where you will see people walking, running, bicycling, and out with their dogs 12 months of the year. Capitol Hill's Volunteer Park, with its Victorian Glass House, Asian Art Museum, and views of downtown Seattle and Elliott Bay is near by. Our neighborhood is approximately one mile from the commercial areas of Capitol Hill where you will find restaurants, coffee houses, stores, pubs and bars.
We are close to Interstate 5 and major avenues, and there is a bus stop approximately 2 minutes walk from us. The bus ride to downtown takes approximately 15 minutes.
Nine times out of ten, "house rules" are simply not necessary but due to a few unfortunate incidences, we need to spell out our expectations.
-No more than two people may sleep or stay overnight unless by prior arrangement with hosts. We ask to be notified if you are having any guest to the studio. If you have any questions about this policy, please ask.
- No scents to be used or applied anywhere within the studio. We have many guests who request a totally scent free environment.
-No smoking inside studio. Smoking in the courtyard is fine as long as smoke does not enter the studio.
-No cooking (except warming in microwave)
-Noise levels must be kept down at all times (we are located in a quiet residential area) The studio is NOT suitable for entertaining a group.
-The studio is not toddler friendly
-We don't want you staying with us if you are in anyway intoxicated beyond a moderate level. If you have any problem with this, PLEASE look to stay somewhere else.
- Check-in time is normally between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm unless by prior arrangement.
- Check-out time is 11:00 am.
WE ASK GUESTS TO RESPECT OUR PROPERTY
My husband and I had a great time. The studio was cosy and very cute. John and Craig are really nice and Craig had great recommendations. They were also very responsive. We loved the neighborhood, walking around Volunteer Park, and checking out all the bars and cafes near by. I highly recommend this place.
We had a great time staying at John and Craig's studio. It was spacious, very comfortable, clean, and located in a great neighborhood. The hosts were exceedingly hospitable, friendly, and very knowledgeable about Seattle. There were so many little touches that made it such a great experience, even down to the gourmet coffee available in the room. I highly recommend this listing!
Craig welcomed us when we arrived in Capital Hill. He was very thorough showing us around, making sure we were comfortable with everything in the studio and very great to talk to. He also had plenty of good recommendations of things to do in the neighborhood and downtown. We would love to stare there again if we're ever in the area. It was very close to anything you might want to do in Seattle either touristy or local.
We had a comfortable and pleasant stay at John & Craig's guest studio. The studio was cozy, well organized and looks like the pictures. Craig interacted with us before and during our stay and helped us with anything we had questions on. We liked the location and it's proximity to downtown and places to see and visit . Uber was terrific and got us anywhere and everywhere very reasonably from here. We hope to visit Seattle and the guest studio possibly, sometime again.
We thought John and Craig's studio was a terrific base of operations for our 5-day Seattle vacation. Craig greeted us when we arrived, showed us around the studio, and made us feel at home. He was quite gracious, striking the perfect balance between welcoming host and respectful landlord. We felt as if John and Craig were there for us if we needed anything, but allowed us to do our own thing and have our own space.
The studio itself was very comfortable. About the size of a hotel room, split between two levels, it is definitely not huge, and the upstairs area around the bed is limited. So there isn't a ton of storage space, but we thought it was enough. The neighborhood is lovely, quiet, and a few blocks from Volunteer Park. It is a bit removed from the commercial center of Capitol Hill -- about a mile's walk to the first set of shops, and another half mile or so to the Pine/Pike corridor. We rented a car for part of our stay, and were able to park it in the lot at the studio which was incredibly convenient. Ubers and public buses were also easily accessible to/from the studio.
A great city and a perfect base to explore it from! The studio was just perfect and exactly as it is described. John and Craig were very helpful and in addition provided lots of information in the studio about the area. The studio is ideally situated in a beautiful area, with offroad parking and just one block from the bus route. We had a great stay and if we were ever to be so lucky as to return to Seattle we would not hesitate in returning to the studio.
I have no hesitation in recommending John and Craig's studio. It is ideal for a couple or single person. Capitol Hill is a great location and well served by public transport. John and Craig are both very helpful and friendly. Craig met us when we arrived and explained what we needed to know about the apartment and area. The studio is immaculate, stocked with complementary tea, coffee and soft drinks and a lot of helpful information about the city. We hope to return to Seattle and would definitely stay here again.

About the Host, John
My partner Craig and I have recently retired here in Seattle! We love our new city, house, and convenient neighborhood. The house we selected happened to come with a wonderful guest studio which we use often for our personal guests that come to visit. We also have a condo that we offer for short term rental in Phoenix. We are hard core Democrats, GOP friendly and welcome anyone who is fair minded!
