We kindly request a two night minimum. Since we are not a commercial business, we encourage you to have a full profile and a photograph with your profile, and we appreciate knowing a little bit about you and the reason for your visit; especially if you do not have a full profile or reviews from other hosts established. Thank you for your understanding.
The "Blue Door" Guest Studio is a self-contained two story loft/ studio located in one of Seattle’s most prestigious neighborhoods, North Capitol Hill. The "Blue Door" is a very special, comfortable and private little space that is connected to our detached garage. In its entirety, it is about the size of a hotel room but divided into two levels. The sitting room is on the ground level and the private entrance opens out to a beautiful shared courtyard with the main house. A very comfortable Queen sized bed is on the second level. Here in the bedroom you can enjoy a 32" flat screen TV with cable. The bathroom in the studio has a shower. The guest studio does not have a kitchen nor do we permit the use of a BBQ (due to insurance reasons) but the studio does come with wireless internet, a small refrigerator, microwave oven and off street parking. Please note, even during summer months most evenings in Seattle cool off and so most homes are not air conditioned. The guest studio is not air conditioned but does have a ceiling fan and good cross ventilation.
North Capitol Hill is known for its fabulous location within Seattle. We are just minutes away from both Downtown and the University District ... in fact we are two easy blocks from the #49 bus stop which will take you to both. On Capitol Hill, we are a seven minute walk to Volunteer Park and you will find numerous cafes, coffee houses, and stores located in both the 15th Street commercial area and the Broadway area; each about a 20 minute walk from the studio. If you are not into walking, you will appreciate your private off street parking space provided at no extra charge. We don't permit smoking inside (you may smoke in the courtyard) and we do not allow pets, although we do have two small dogs ourselves.
The studio is ideal for one person or a couple. It is not set-up to be child friendly. It is a fun creative space in an excellent neighborhood at a very reasonable price. We look forward to hosting your visit!
North Capitol Hill is a quiet upscale neighborhood where you will see people walking, running, bicycling, and out with their dogs 12 months of the year. Capitol Hill's Volunteer Park, with its Victorian Glass House, Asian Art Museum, and views of downtown Seattle and Elliott Bay is near by. Our neighborhood is approximately one mile from the commercial areas of Capitol Hill where you will find restaurants, coffee houses, stores, pubs and bars.
We are close to Interstate 5 and major avenues, and there is a bus stop approximately 2 minutes walk from us. The bus ride to downtown takes approximately 15 minutes.
Nine times out of ten, "house rules" are simply not necessary but due to a few unfortunate incidences, we need to spell out our expectations.
-No more than two people may sleep or stay overnight unless by prior arrangement with hosts. We ask to be notified if you are having any guest to the studio. If you have any questions about this policy, please ask.
- No scents to be used or applied anywhere within the studio. We have many guests who request a totally scent free environment.
-No smoking inside studio. Smoking in the courtyard is fine as long as smoke does not enter the studio.
-No cooking (except warming in microwave)
-Noise levels must be kept down at all times (we are located in a quiet residential area) The studio is NOT suitable for entertaining a group.
-The studio is not toddler friendly
-We don't want you staying with us if you are in anyway intoxicated beyond a moderate level. If you have any problem with this, PLEASE look to stay somewhere else.
- Check-in time is normally between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm unless by prior arrangement.
- Check-out time is 11:00 am.
WE ASK GUESTS TO RESPECT OUR PROPERTY
John and Craig are very responsive to any issues regarding the property. They are very nice people. We like this property because of its location, the neighborhood, and the attention to small details that Craig and John provide. We have used it for several weeks and have no problems or issues.
John and Craig,
Thank you for your hospitality during our stay. The studio was exactly as described, impeccably clean and ready for our stay. Your home is absolutely gorgeous and we would certainly stay again.
My boyfriend and I decided to take a pre-Valentines Day trip to Seattle as we both have never been there before. We decided to save some money and use AirBnB since we would be staying for 4 nights. Communication prior to our arrival with John and Craig was flawless. They were flexible with our late flight arrival and waited up for us, which we really appreciated! We met Craig and he gave us a tour of our space, fridge loaded with refreshments for us. Overall, we didn't see much of our hosts because they gave us 100% privacy on our couple getaway, but when we did run into Craig, it was a great convo/catch up on how our trip to Seattle had been so far. Craig was really welcoming and the studio was awesome. It felt like our own little apartment and everything touristy that we wanted to do was less than a 10min Uber away! I would definitely recommend for any traveler to stay here.
What an amazing space! Craig was so sweet to show us around the loft when we arrived, and he made sure that we were comfortable throughout our stay. The location of this airbnb is WONDERFUL because we were able to walk to Capitol Hill for brunch with friends the next morning- and we ended up walking through a beautiful park on our way! You could definitely go for gorgeous walks and runs while staying at this place. The fridge was stocked with refreshments, and coffee in the morning was super nice. The loft itself is more like a second story because the stairs are easy to navigate and the ceiling is tall! The bed was extremely comfortable, too. Thank you, John and Craig, for an amazing weekend in Seattle! :)
lovely flat in quiet neighborhood. John was efficient in giving directions and Craig in showing us round the flat, generously stocked with drinks for us in the fridge. Highly recommended.
John & Craig's studio was perfect for my last minute stay. I needed to extend my stay in Seattle and they were able to quickly approve my request with the help of another local host. The location is great and it is easy to come and go discreetly. I only regret not having the time to get to know them better during my stay.
They are also very knowledgable of the area and are willing to offer suggestions for food, coffee and other attractions.
I would certainly recommend this property to any single or couple looking for a private retreat in a great neighborhood.
John and Craig were incredible and friendly hosts! The place is very clean, heated and well-lit. Craig went the extra way to show us the studio and its nuances. Both went to great lengths to make sure we were comfortable and enjoyed our stay. I was worried that the loft would not be tall enough for my 6-foot boyfriend as most lofts aren't. But, it turned out that the loft had high ceilings so it worked out well! The bed was absolutely perfect. We had been staying at another AirBnB where the bed was too soft. We finally were able to get a good night's rest on this bed, especially being so sore from snowboarding at Whistler. I would not hesitate to book this place again!

My partner Craig and I have recently retired here in Seattle! We love our new city, house, and convenient neighborhood. The house we selected happened to come with a wonderful guest studio which we use often for our personal guests that come to visit. We also have a condo that we offer for short term rental in Phoenix. We are hard core Democrats, GOP friendly and welcome anyone who is fair minded!
