We had a great time at this lovely apartment in Bangkok. Nice little pool on the roof and safe area with a nice little restaurang/bar with live music within walking distance. We furthermore left our metro cards for someone else to use. Renae was really nice and gave a lot of suggestions and help on how and where to go. Thank you for a lovely stay!
Great room in a great location. 10 min walk to subway which brings you anywhere you need to get to in Bangkok. Renae responds to queries quickly and has a great manager on site. I lost my keys and had them replaced on the spot. Nice to have a washer and dryer, coffee, fridge, air-con and wifi. The pool on the roof was a great plus. A great open air restaurant for a 40 baht meal around the corner. I would definitely stay there again. :-)
Renae was very helpful and quick to answer my questions as she was travelling. The flat is not the one in the pictures but it's pretty similar, I guess. The building manager was also very helpful and even drove me to the MRT station a couple of times. Speaking on the phone when I arrived in the airport was half an issue because I couldn't understand a single word... so, there was a language barrier somehow. The area is very calm but coming home late was a problem for me as i like to walk like but I didn't feel safe because the streets are very dark and there are some street dogs on the way. There's a supermarket and a street eating area close by, which is very convenient.
I had a wonderful stay with Renae in her VERY comfy and lovely apartment located in a friendly neighborhood that's convenient-to-the-MRT train..
You couldn't ask for a better host. Renae is very thoughtful and generous (she even shared her home cooked meals with me and met me at the airport). She's informative and helpful, as well as being interesting and fun!
Her very clean and modern apartment has everything you need for a very comfortable stay, including AC, exellent WiFi, good-sized bedroom with a wardrobe and en suite bathroom and shower, great kitchen with good-sized frig, coffee maker, microwave, all cooking utensils.
I enjoyed my stay so much that I booked a return to Renae's place for 2 weeks from now.
Renae has a beautiful flat. Unfortunately, Renae had to leave town so I had the entire flat to myself for more than 1/2 of my stay and the other half with Renae's friend. About the flat: Bed in the room, was big and comfortable. Bathroom was clean. Room had a wardrobe and some small drawers for your stuff. The Air Conditioning worked very well. There is a nice view of a rustic house and their graden next door from the living room/dining area. If you go out on the balcony you can see highrises in the distance. The kitchen has modern appliances. I cooked a lot while I was there. The washer and dryer work well. The building is very secure with a monitored lobby that is locked when not monitored. The flat isn't located too far from the metro, but if you have more than 1 piece of luggage you are better off taking a taxi from the metro station or making arrangements with Renae to have a taxi driver pick you up from the airport. There are a number of places nearby where you can eat for under 200 baht. If you want something more up to western standards, the Index Livingmall is not far away; there are a number of restaurants and a big grocery store there. The grocery store (I think it is called Big-C) has a great variety of local foods at very reasonable prices. I got a whole rost chick (cut up) for 58 baht. If you go grocery shopping and have too many packages to carry when you exit the Mall on the Lat Phrao side, there is a taxi stand to the left in the parking lot. It costs about 35 baht for a ride to Renae's place, but you will have to give the taxi driver directions. It takes some maeuvering to visit the temples as you have to: Take the metro (aka MRT) from the Lat Phrao station to the Si Lom station (toward Hua Lamphong) Exit the Si Lom station and walk to the elevated walkway The elevated walkway has signs that will lead you to the Sala Daeng. Sky Train Station. Take the Sky Train to Saphan Taksin (toward Wongwian Yai) At the Saphan Taksin Sky Train Station follow the signs for Central Pier or Chao Phraya Shuttle Boats ((I can't remember which. I think it is Exit 1). When you get to Central Pier, you can take the all day pass which is 150 baht and you purchase it from the ticket booth or just purchase your 1 way ticket (typically 20-30 baht) to whatever pier is near the temple you want to visit. Tha Tien #8 is near Wat Po, Wat Phrao Kaeo, the Grand Palace and if you take the boat across the river (30 baht), Wat Arun. They are all lovely places to visit. Important: avoid all people who try to meddle in your business and steer you in the wrong direction so that...
Renae is a great host and has excellent communication!
Renae was a lovely host during my brief stay in Bangkok. Her place is a beautiful apartment at a very convenient location, close to the public transport which makes it very easy to move around. She was extremely helpful and caring especially when the airport pick up arrangements didn't work out.
Renae is very approachable and relaxed and we had great and interesting conversations about many thing from politics to family. It just felt as if I know her for ages and we are now catching up! Definitely a person, I hope to see again in the future :)
