Urban Whiteaker Cottage

Cabin - Entire home/apt · W 4th Ave, Eugene, OR 97402, United States

Our studio with kitchenette is nestled in the heart of the Whiteaker neighborhood. A bustling and eccentric urban area in Eugene that is packed with breweries and restaurants . It's also close to downtown, Autzen stadium, Sweet Life and the river.

The Space

Our 320 sq. ft. cottage is an efficient studio. Two fit comfortably in a queen bed with an additional sofa twin bed for a child. It's situated in Eugene's oldest neighborhood. Esquire magazine calls it "one of the weirdest neighborhoods in America". It's a mix of bohemian vibe, urban funk and hippy love. Within a 5 minute walk, you'll find Ninkasi (local beer brewery), Territorial (a local winery), Vanilla Jill's (a local organic frozen yogurt co.), Sam Bond's garage (a bar/venue for amazing shows), PRI (the most unusual pizza you'll ever try), Meiji (japanese pub), Mame sushi (a new hole in the wall that serves world class sushi), a host of traditional mexican and thai restaurants, and of course, my bakery, Sweet Life Patisserie.
The river is a short jaunt, as well as most places in Eugene as it is centrally located. On street parking and bus stops right out front.
Keep in mind, this cottage is located in the center of a busy neighborhood. You'll often hear music from the local venues at night and an occasional rowdy bunch in the park next door. The energy of the neighborhood is festive and unique.
The cottage has a bath with shower, a fully stocked kitchenette with fridge and hotplate, and a queen sized memory foam mattress. There is also a 4 person hot tub with access to a beautiful deck.
Locally roasted organic coffee and assorted teas provided.
We're busy on our farm and at the bakery, so you probably won't see too much of us, but we'll greet you and make sure you're settled in.

  • This little cottage was just the right size and a great find in the heart of Eugene! I loved that it was right down the street from some great little cafes and eateries. We ran into Catherine at her bakery, who was super friendly and I loved hearing about all the projects they have going on! I would definitely stay again if I'm ever back in Eugene :)

  • The cottage was wonderful! We stayed 2 nights and wish we could've stayed a week at least! Everything you'd need was stocked in the cabin and it was very clean. You have to make sure to stop by their bakery...so good!

  • I really enjoyed my stay at Whiteaker Cottage. The studio is warm and welcoming, and I made good use of the hot tub! The neighborhood has many beautiful old houses with lovely gardens. The businesses nearby provided everything I needed, a natural food store, a yoga studio, a bakery, pubs and more.

  • Great place to stay while visiting Eugene. Comfortable, good location, cool neighborhood with lots of choice for eating out, having a coffee or a beer. Close to desirable places: the river, parks, walking paths, downtown, Hult Center, the university, shopping, Saturday market and much more.

  • This cottage was just as advertised: adorable, cozy, and in an awesome neighborhood! We visited Scott and Catherine's bakery, Sam Bond's Garage for drinks and live music, Ninkasi Brewery, Pizza Research Institute, and Keystone Cafe for Brunch. All those places were in easy walking distance and all of them were excellent (ESPECIALLY Sweet Life Patisserie)! Check-in and check-out were as hassle-free as could be. Most highly recommended.

  • We had an amazing time. Me and my friends will be back... Amazing little cottage. Great location. Catherine even stopped by to make sure we had enough of their amazing pastries in the freezer. I couldn't imagine a better place to stay!

  • We loved it! Nice and cozy, but everything we needed. The temperature was perfect, too. We woke up to frost in the yard, but the house was nice and toasty.

All of the furnishings and amenities were top-notch. Lots of tea and coffee, frozen pastries (if they say EDF, they're vegan!) and we even loved the body wash in the shower.

The location was awesome, too! Easy walks to Cornbread Cafe, Wandering Goat Coffee, Sweet Life (Scott and Catherine's bakery), Pizza Research Institute and tons of other great places.

    We'll definitely be coming back.

  • Though it was a quick stay, I had a wonderful stay in the cottage. It was sunny and spacious, and adorable inside and out. Scott and Catherine were extremely fast at responding to my last minute reservation. I appreciate their great communication and hospitality and would recommend the cottage to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, and charming experience.

I own a patisserie in Eugene, Oregon with my sister. My husband Scott and I built our dream home 3 years ago. Now we're embarking on a new adventure of starting an organic farm so we can grow berries and flowers for our bakery. We rarely stop to breathe, but when we do we enjoy cooking and eating good food, hanging with our niece and nephews, dinners with friends, and making beautiful things grow.
