About This Listing
Our studio with kitchenette is nestled in the heart of the Whiteaker neighborhood. A bustling and eccentric urban area in Eugene that is packed with breweries and restaurants . It's also close to downtown, Autzen stadium, Sweet Life and the river.
Our 320 sq. ft. cottage is an efficient studio. Two fit comfortably in a queen bed with an additional sofa twin bed for a child. It's situated in Eugene's oldest neighborhood. Esquire magazine calls it "one of the weirdest neighborhoods in America". It's a mix of bohemian vibe, urban funk and hippy love. Within a 5 minute walk, you'll find Ninkasi (local beer brewery), Territorial (a local winery), Vanilla Jill's (a local organic frozen yogurt co.), Sam Bond's garage (a bar/venue for amazing shows), PRI (the most unusual pizza you'll ever try), Meiji (japanese pub), Mame sushi (a new hole in the wall that serves world class sushi), a host of traditional mexican and thai restaurants, and of course, my bakery, Sweet Life Patisserie.
The river is a short jaunt, as well as most places in Eugene as it is centrally located. On street parking and bus stops right out front.
Keep in mind, this cottage is located in the center of a busy neighborhood. You'll often hear music from the local venues at night and an occasional rowdy bunch in the park next door. The energy of the neighborhood is festive and unique. There is also no AC.
The cottage has a bath with shower, a fully stocked kitchenette with fridge and hotplate, and a queen sized memory foam mattress. There is also a 4 person hot tub with access to a beautiful deck.
Locally roasted organic coffee and assorted teas provided.
We're busy on our farm and at the bakery, so you probably won't see too much of us, but we'll greet you and make sure you're settled in.

This place is in the absolutely best location if you want to be in the hippest part of town, it not the nicest neighborhood but it is where it's all happening. The place was nice and clean. The weather was super hot and the place no AC but it cooled off well with the windows open. We never saw our hosts which is always a little weird but people are busy and we understand that. In our room there was a great book of info and reviews of local eats and attraction. Wifi was available but spotty at times. The grounds were beautiful and there was access to the hot tub but the heatwave kept us out of it. We were only there for one night and it was a great spot for us.
The cottage is better than advertised. Lovely grounds, walkable to many neighborhood haunts. Comfortable bed, stocked kitchen, easy communication with Catherine, parking no problem.
We stayed during an Oregon heat wave and it was hot until late in the night. Normally in Oregon this is not an issue.
We loved this property. The porch and garden were beautiful and encouraged being outside, while the inside was compact but perfectly fine for two, with simple, practical, elegant decor and all the kitchen/bath stuff we needed. Super comfortable queen-size bed! No TV, which was fine with us. The hot tub was a nice treat. We were there during fairly hot weather and the lack of a/c was no problem at all. The property abuts a park, which, like most parks in Eugene, attracts something of an indigent crowd. We never felt threatened in any way but be prepared for this aspect of Eugene. Lots of good eateries/drinkeries and some music within easy walking distance, and a short drive/bike to the University. Beach, rivers, waterfalls, all within 2 hours, or get a great bike ride or hike right in town--there's topography for every fitness level. Great town. Don't forget to partake of the sweets and savories at Sweet Life Bakery, nearby, also owned by Scott and Catherine. We broke fast every morning there. Enjoy!
This was our first Airbnb stay and what a great initiation. The cottage is a perfect size for a couple to rest and relax. The cottage was clean and included everything needed for a comfortable stay. The garden was so peaceful and welcoming, a lovely setting. We would highly recommend the urban Whiteaker Cottage.
This was our second stay at the Urban Whiteaker Cottage and it will be our go to space to stay in Eugene. Thanks again for your hospitality!
We felt very welcomed with neighborhood listings and other details about our place. There were great treats from a local bakery left for us as well as farm fresh eggs, coffee, tea and everything needed to cook. We were able to meet the hosts and they were so welcoming and accommodating to our needs.
The venue was an absolute oasis! The garden was beautiful and peaceful. Just what we needed to relax and recharge. While we were there the neighborhood was quiet, but still being close to eating establishments.
Be sure to check out the Sweet Life Patisserie!

About the Host, Scott And Catherine
I own a patisserie in Eugene, Oregon with my sister. My husband Scott and I built our dream home 3 years ago. Now we're embarking on a new adventure of starting an organic farm so we can grow berries and flowers for our bakery. We enjoy growing, preserving, cooking and eating good food, playing with our niece and nephews, dinners with friends, and making beautiful things grow.
