Overall, this was a good experience. The location of this studio is all that and more -- providing access to some awesome clubs and bars and brunch places. The Highline is right there too for beautiful afternoon strolls.
The room is very spacious for NYC and has a Queen-sized bed, a small kitchenette with a fridge and microwave, and a bathroom (shower, no bathtub). The host thoughtfully provided a couple of space heaters to make sure you are comfortable. The towels, sheets, etc. were clean and fresh!
The cons have mostly been discussed by others. This area is LOUD at night and the studio is right above a hopping club, so do follow the advice and bring ear plugs. I would add one other con to this. This is less like a typical AirBnB experience because nobody actually ever lives in this studio so it felt more like a hotel than a typical AirBnB experience. If that's your cup of tea, go for it. I personally prefer places where I get to meet the host, chat a bit, etc.
The apartment was very nice, and the area was convenient for me. There are a lot of bars in the Meatpacking District, so Friday and Saturday nights you could hear some noise/music from them, but it wasn't bad. I had no trouble sleeping. There was no hot water the first few days I was there due to a building issue, which was unfortunate. There was also no internet the entire time I was there (over a week!), despite the host assuring me that a tech was going to fix it, which was very disappointing. It's 2014; that's not an optional utility anymore. I would never have knowingly chosen a place to stay that didn't have internet. Overall: everything was good except the lack of internet and the water issue.
This studio was great! A very reasonable size, and clean. We had no problems with wi-if. It is also in a fantastic location, close to the highline, the standard hotel, Chelsea markets and the subway. We stayed here over New Years and it was one of the best priced places we found. The one disadvantage is, as mentioned in other reviews, is the music from the club below.
Get place to stay in an awesome location. Room was exactly as described and could not be happier with our stay. Will definitely stay there again.
If you want to be in the centre of the Meatpacking hot spots, this is the apartment to stay. Literally seconds from restaurants, Hiline and shopping.
Above Revel Bar, this large apartment has a bathroom, great king size bed and can easily accommodate a stretcher bed if you have an extra person.
We will be back again.
Cheers John & Sue from Melbourne Australia
Very nice place, very clean, nice surrounding area. Will come back. Thanks
The studio is charming, clean and actually roomier than i had anticipated. Upon entering, it felt like a fantastic choice. The only downside was noise. On one hand, the location is hard to beat - in the heart of the Meat Packing district surrounded by great restaurants, shops and night life. But, if you're a light sleeper like me, the noise from the surrounding late night clubs, followed by crack of dawn sanitation crews and delivery trucks, could prove pretty disturbing. I was in awe of my friend who slept through it all, so I'm sure she would have given it more stars. Also worth noting, it's easy walking distance to The Village and Soho, and if you're a runner or walker, you'll love that it's just 2 blocks from the beautiful exercise path that goes along the Hudson.
This place is great! There are only 2 caveats... be prepared to climb stairs, and there is funky thing that happens with the water pressure from time to time. I have bad knees, so the stairs were murder on me. The rooms are also located above a really cool restaurant, so the water situation could have something to do with that(i'm in the industry, so I get it), but I'll definitely stay here again in a heartbeat! In fact, I'm planning my next trip, and I'll certainly want to stay here! This host has multiple rooms, so you may or may not stay in an exact one pictured here, but ALL very nice just the same! And if you're a TV person like me, just make sure of the correct input settings, so that TV tunes in properly. It has a tendency to revert back when you cut the TV off! Hey, but ALL GOOD! Can't wait to go back!
The room is spacious, clean and new, just like it's shown in the pictures. It can be very noise at night, but I knew that before I booked the studio. The wi-fi never worked in my room (nr 4, 2nd floor), and I had to go to the stairs to get connected. I was really upset about that, but Thomas wasn't able to fix it during the 5 days I spent in his studio. The water was also a problem, since there was a pressure problem. The neighborhood is great, with a lot of good restaurants, bars, stores, etc.
Contact and check in was very smooth and fast. The bed is comfortable and the studio spacious and clean. The only issues we had during our stay was the water pressure in the shower, but this was a minor issue and we did not even think to complain about it. We found out on our last day that the pressure pump had been broken for a few days and so the water pressure is typically better. Another small issue was that the towels are to soft to absorb water. I would suggest to bring your own towels.
The volume from the bar downstairs is very loud, but this was not a problem for us as we can sleep through anything.
The location of the studio is also fantastic and the food downstairs at Revel is really nice.
