We loved our Tamarindo vacation and our stay at Casa Tiburon. It is just a short, 5 minute walk to the beach, and and even shorter walk down the path to the shops & restaurants of the little town of Tamarindo. Marco's home was fun, artsy and unique. Built down a hillside with a main open terrace "living room", this home has 2 separate cabin-like casitas, each with its own bathroom & AC. The main kitchen was equipped with what we needed, although not set up for major cooking. There is wifi, but no tv or stereo, which was just perfect for a mostly "unplugged" vacation with our teenagers. We had a great, relaxing vacation at Casa Tiburon!

Marcos home is a fantastic find. Easy access to town, Ac in bedrooms worked well on hot days. The house is a gem. Will return next surf trip.

This is a very unique Airbnb with a combination of secure indoor, open outdoor & closed but unlocked kitchen spaces. The pictures represent the property accurately. The bedroom cabins have air conditioning and both have a private bath. My husband and I enjoyed our cabin and it was nice for our 22-year-old daughter to have a private cabin of her own. We were within walking distance of many cool restaurants and shops, and very close to the beach. Highly recommend LaBodega for breakfast and lunch and Green Papaya for amazing tacos!! Both are just a minute's walk away. We loved waking up to beautiful birds and howler monkeys in the trees. A lovely breeze seems to blow constantly to cool the outdoor spaces. Unfortunately, some things were in disrepair. The oven had missing front safety glass, which made using the oven a bit hazardous and really heated up the kitchen area. The glass burner shield was also missing with remnants of broken glass on the floor and in the hinges. Our party was all adults, so this wasn't a huge issue for us, and Marco did point out the problems during check in. People staying at the house next door were able to walk through this property. It was a shock at first, as we are surrounded by a fence and gates requiring keys to enter. We didn't have any problems with the people walking through, but it did make us rethink leaving items in the kitchen building and in the open spaces where they were not secure. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and hope to return to Tamarindo soon!

Marco's compound is great for having your own space and sharing the common areas. The house is located right in the heart of Tamarindo. It is very close to the beach and the market. We enjoyed the monkeys in the trees. Noise became an issue with music being played nearby until 2 AM.

Casa Tiburon is a special way to enjoy Tamarindo. As one can see from the pictures, it is designed to take advantage of the climate with outdoor living space. As a guest you feel like you are living out in the wild - watching howlers, iguanas, mot-mots and other birds from the open living area - yet all the while you are an easy stroll from Calle Central, Tamarindo's main drag, and the beach. Indeed we walked to the beach with our surfboards. The bedrooms are enclosed and air-conditioned. We had some problems with the a/c in the main bedroom (we were there for a month, so something was bound to go wrong), but happy to say that Marco was very responsive, getting an a/c tech out ASAP. We cooked a little, and the kitchen worked well for us. We loved waking up to the howlers (not every day, seemed to be every few) and observing the wildlife while we had our coffee. A few observations: people mentioned bugs in other reviews - true, there are bugs, but after all you are living outside in the semi-tropics. Keep things clean and the bugs are not a real problem unless you are particularly squeamish - you need to know yourself. Also, potential guests should know that there is no hot water per se, but over the course of the month we had a number of different guests ranging in age from 20's to 60's and everyone was comfortable with the sun-heated water for showers. Lastly, Tamarindo can be a lively place, with dance music late into the evening. You will hear it at Casa Tiburon, as I imagine you do elsewhere in town. When we retired early, we relied on the a/c to muffle it … In sum, we enjoyed our time in Tamarindo and found Casa Tiburon to be just what we were looking for - private, yet close to everything. And Marco does everything he can to ensure that your stay is a good one.

Casa Tiburon is a real jewel. We couldn't have hoped for a better place for a vacation for 3 adults. Close to everything, great kitchen, outdoor living, comfort for sleeping or chilling. The monkeys were adorable, great shower outside, the little house is perfect. The place is extremely secure with a gated perimeter. Bravo Marco!!!

I am a professional photographer.
Back in the early '90 I've been sent here in Costa Rica to cover photos reportage of this little known tropical country. Well, I felt immediately in love with the generosity of the nature, the simplicity of the people, the atmosphere of wildness and, of course, the Ocean!
So, it is now 22 years I am living here.
At the moment I'm involved in starting a cocoa plantation. Also experimenting chocolate making and love it.
Life can be sweet.
