Quiet, comfortable surf house.
monkeys, parrots, iguanas and squirrels are your companions.
1mn walk to supermarket, bars and restaurants, 3 mn walk to the beach.
All rooms with a/c.
Casa Tiburon is structured to be a three bedroom house, however, each room can also be considered an independent unit with its own entrance, bathroom and kitchen.
The main terrace is the place to live, with hummingbirds and monkeys to watch and share time with.
Go party outside and stay quite at home.
We have only good things to say about our stay at Casa Tiburon. Marco met us upon our arrival, answered all our questions, and made us feel welcome. The location was excellent, the place was clean, spacious and airy. The kids loved that the internet worked well. We loved the fact that, other than the bedrooms, everything was open and basically outdoors where we could enjoy the breeze. We felt safe, and really enjoyed the privacy. Kitchen facilities were great. If you are thinking of visiting Tamarindo, we give a double thumbs up to Casa Tiburon.
I booked the Casa Tirburon with Marco after reading several favourable reviews. I can say after spending a week, that not only is Marco a very exceptional host, but the property delivers on all levels.
If you are looking for an 'authentic' and memorable Costa Rican experience, I implore you to consider renting the Casa Tirburon.
The location is ideal if you are looking for a quiet oasis, and only steps from the hustle and bustle of Tamarindo. Each bedroom is a separate space, which is very nice when privacy is a factor, and the common area next to the lovely kitchen makes for a great lounging area.
In terms of amenities, the kitchen provided all of what we needed to prepare meals (we cooked almost every day) and the appliances are all in good working order. Cleanliness was not a concern at all, but keep an open mind in terms of small bugs etc, this is a rustic rental after all and food should not be left out.
The trees surrounding the property act as a veritable highway for local wildlife, and we enjoyed the almost daily concert of howler monkeys passing by; not something you would get at a hotel on the strip.
As a host, Marco was very prompt to respond to any questions, and was always available if needed.
Security was never a concern, Marco has installed full security measures and we never felt uneasy.
One thing to keep in mind if booking, there are two points of access to the property.. and when taking a shuttle from the airport the driver may not know exactly where the drop-off is. The main-road access is directly across from the Hotel Pasatiempo, and was our best bet for instructing the driver.
Overall, I am happy to recommend staying at the Casa Tiburon to any adults visiting Tamarindo looking for an alternative to the hotel experience.
Casa Tiburon was the perfect getaway for our winter vacation in the sun.
Marco's sister, Marina met us when we arrived and showed us around. The house is located within a few minute walk of lots of restaurants in town. The property is secure with a large wall and locking door. The photos of the place are accurate and reflect the space well.
The house and property are super clean and the kitchen was stocked when we arrived. We cooked one night there and we had all of the tools we needed.
Staying at Casa Tiburon was a unique experience because of the layout of the space. It felt like we were almost living outdoors (in a good way), with everything being so exposed. But it was still private enough that we felt comfortable. A real Costa Rican experience!
Marco is a great host and even stopped by to drop off some of his delicious chocolate to taste! We highly recommend staying here and we'd definitely like to come back soon!
Marina, Marco's sister, lives next door and met us at the gate with a big smile and a tour of the place. The house is just out of the action, which allowed easy access to the ocean, the restaurants and the bars, but allowes quiet refuge at the end of the day.
This was a wonderful 'outdoor' living experience and we spent most of our time on the deck. The kitchen was well stocked and the rooms were very comfortable. I would recommend Casa Tiburon to anyone looking for an authentic Costa Rican experience.
When we had any issues (we needed light bulbs and the lock on the gate jammed), we only needed to approach Marina and they were dealt with immediately. Thanks to Marco and Marina for a great vacation.
Marcos sister who lives next door made us feel welcome the day we arrived but we soon found out that the home was littered with red ants and spiders which made our stay uncomfortable. Our internet was down the first night but Marco came the next morning and had it fixed, which was nice. Overall we would recommend the home to travellers because the location was great and the house is spacious but bring lots of bug spray.
Marco and his place was great! He even checked us in on Christmas! The house was perfect for us, close to beach and downtown activities. Yet once you entered the property it felt like a quiet oasis. We are a family of five, including three girls ages 27, 25, 16. All of us enjoyed hanging out on the patio which connects to the kitchen. Marco's sister lives next door and was very helpful and gracious.
Staying at Casa Tiburon was truly a unique and awesome experience which matched the beautiful country of Costa Rica. We highly recommend it!
I have only fantastic things to say about our experience of staying at Marco's beautiful rustic retreat. There were 6 of us in our party, with plenty of room for everyone. My MOST favorite part of the house is the huge open-concept living area that is connected to the kitchen -- where you cook while watching the monkey family in the trees -- absolutely amazing. We cooked every day -- gourmet meals from local supermarkets (2 within super easy walking distance) -- and a 3rd about a 2 km walk (a $4 taxi takes you back). We went out to a local bar a danced salsa until early morning. We had movie night by hanging a sheets and projecting on to it -- magical. It's easy to get fresh fruits and veggies -- also there is a fish truck and a farmer's market (on Saturdays). Marco is a total sweetheart -- and totally took care of us. His sister, Marina (she lives next door) is also really kind and open to answering whatever questions you might have. The house cat, who we renamed "wilbur" -- her name is Margo, was around -- as were a few kitties -- a delightful addition. The house is a very short walk to all the action -- but far enough away so it's not on top of you. We'd come again in a heart beat. My daughter and her boyfriend are already planning a return trip!
I am a professional photographer.
Back in the early '90 I've been sent here in Costa Rica to cover photos reportage of this little known tropical country. Well, I felt immediately in love with the generosity of the nature, the simplicity of the people, the atmosphere of wildness and, of course, the Ocean!
So, it is now 22 years I am living here.
At the moment I'm involved in starting a cocoa plantation. Also experimenting chocolate making and love it.
Life can be sweet.
