  • Marco was always around for help, his place is right in the center of things, sleeps 6-8 if need be but we only had 3.
Great outdoor space, spent most of the time here.
Got to have his chocolate, there is the coolest "puss in boots cat" everything including the sunrise howl of the troop of 30 monkeys whop live in the trees by the house.
If you want to see all the other great beaches you will need to hire a car, for the mountain bikers close to flamingo beach there is 45 ks of biking only terrain at los carbos by the small peninsular. Very hot so you need to do it before 08.00 though.

  • The listing was exactly as expected. The host was awesome. The kitchen and open gathering area was where we hung out most the time. The kitchen is fully equipped. The hammock was always occupied by one of us. There was 5 in our party so we rented the whole house and it worked perfectly. Everyone could retreat to their area for privacy and we could get together when we wanted to socialize. There is a house cat who we loved - absolutely the friendliest cat.
Pros - we loved the house. It was quiet the first week we there and we really enjoyed it. Watching the monkeys in the morning and late afternoon was a treat. It really gives you the Costa Rica feel. The market is a 1/2 block away and the bars/restaurants/beach is another 1 to 1.5 blocks away. The location is ideal if you want to be in the center of things.
Cons - Bugs. I wasn't prepared for the mosquitos and red ants. We even came across what we identified as a scorpion. But, that is Costa Rica and buy spray.
The day after Christmas the town became extremely busy. Bars had live bands and people were staying out late partying. So, do your homework and decide what timeframe fits your lifestyle.
Enjoy Tamarindo - Casa Tiburon is a wonderful home.

  • Casa Tiburon was perfect for travelling with friends. With each of us having our own sleeping and bathroom space, but also enjoying the communal kitchen and sitting area. Perfect for our own happy hour and true to form we were joined by birds, squirrels and howler monkeys. Extremely convenient location with easy walk to beach, stores and restaurants. The Casa has aged since these photos were taken and the rooms are a little bit smaller than they appear. However all the air conditioning worked and we settled in VeRY comfortably. Marco is also an accessible, helpful and friendly host.

  • Wonderful place! The casa was just as pictured. Great location, close to downtown and the beach. Seven of us stayed and had plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen was great for cooking. And there is the cutest cat who hangs out on the quarters. We'll definitely be back!

  • My boyfriend and I rented Marco's place for 2 months this summer and it was absolutely perfect. It's spacious and there's enough privacy if you have multiple people staying with you. Naps in the hammock and eating dinner in the beautiful outdoor patio were some of my favorite things about Marco's place. If you stay here, theres a friendly orange cat who hangs out. We named her Cat Von Cat.

It's a quick walk to the beach, but far enough off the street so that it's quieter. I already miss this place. Rent it, you won't regret it!

  • Casa Tiburon was absolutely amazing. 4 of us stayed for a week so we rented the whole place and couldn't have picked a cooler place. Marco was a great host if we needed anything he was there. We all fell in love with the little red house cat that we named Walter. Going home to hangout in our little common area was a thing we looked forward to for an afternoon nap and watch the monkeys in the trees. We are already missing Costa Rica. P.s. the location of the house is pretty unbeatable. We would definitely go back.

  • We've stayed in many places around the world via airbnb, not to mention all the hotels etc. we've bunked in during our travels. I have to say that Casa Tiburon is one of the sweetest places I've had the pleasure to call home. We stayed for over a month and don't have a single negative thing to say.

The compound, the main house and the bungalows were all beautiful and the main kitchen was just perfectly set up and equipped. We loved lounging and dining outside on the huge covered patio with our family and friends. Plus it's right in town but just far enough away from the late-night antics of Tamarindo to offer peace and quiet if you want that.

Marco lives nearby and was an excellent host. He took care of every need immediately. He even arranged to take our recycling for us to the local drop-off since there was no pick up with the regular trash!

One last thing: If you stay here you're guaranteed to have an up close and personal view of a large troop of howler monkeys that drops by every couple of days to feast and nap in the trees right next to the property. Incredible and free--compared to the $25 per head estuary tours which may or may not yield a sighting.

P.S. If you stay, don't forget to ask him about his latest venture...he grows and produces delicious chocolate!!

  • My good friend and I stayed at Casa Tiburon for one week, and it wasn't nearly long enough. Marco was a great host and had the perfect place for us to experience Tamarindo. We were able to walk everywhere and any questions we had about transportation from the airport and what to do in town Marco was there to answer! We will be back for sure!! Thanks Marco for a great place to stay for the week!

About
I am a professional photographer. Back in the early '90 I've been sent here in Costa Rica to cover photos reportage of this little known tropical country. Well, I felt immediately in love with the generosity of the nature, the simplicity of the people, the atmosphere of wildness and, of course, the Ocean! So, it is now 22 years I am living here. At the moment I'm involved in starting a cocoa plantation. Also experimenting chocolate making and love it. Life can be sweet.
