Litchfield County farmhouse (c.1890) with a modern studio addition and distinctive interiors that feature a number of mid-century modern furnishings. The owners are a writer and an architect who have built a truly unique home full of original art and a huge book collection. The property itself is small but it is surrounded by 250 acres of farmed conservation land and a short walk will take you past some of the most scenic farms in Litchfield County.

The space
The house has three bedrooms, a large living room and kitchen, separate dining room, and a kid's playroom in the basement. Best of all is a big screened-in porch with an outdoor fireplace, family-size lounge seating and a rustic table for outside dining that seats eight. This area is covered by a roof so even in rainy weather the whole family can hang out together outside. The eat-in kitchen is big and well-appointed with everything a chef could need. Outdoor propane BBQ grill is close at hand with a huge outdoor picnic table and back patio that gets lots of sun. We have tons of board games, toys, and books for you to enjoy during your stay. Unfortunately, due to some recent mishaps, pets are no longer allowed.

The sleeping arrangements are such that one family or two couples with kids can sleep comfortably; upstairs is one full bath that serves the master bedroom (king bed) and the guest room (two twins, one pulls out to sleep more kids if necessary). Downstairs in the private studio wing is one bedroom (queen bed) with a full bath directly adjacent. There is also a half bath downstairs adjacent to the main living areas.

Guest access
Free WIFI. Kid friendly areas (and toys) are separate from the main living spaces -- includes a swing-set in the back yard, a play area in the basement and various sports equipment in the garage (basketball hoop, frisbee, wiffleball, soccer ball, etc).

Wild blackberries are all over the property in July/August. There is a family of woodchucks living under the barn and a large group of rabbits in the back near our starter-orchard of apple trees. Tons of wildlife and bird watching.

Other things to note
Our property insurance DOES NOT cover intentional or accidental damage protection or loss of personal property for guests due to theft, vandalism, loss, weather events, etc. You should insure your trip and personal possessions with adequate travelers insurance if you feel it will be necessary.

House is private but not too secluded, views of a 100 acre cornfield to the north and a hay field to the south are breathtaking in any season. Huge bird population, wild rabbits, and woodchucks abound.
