We receive you in the ancient Royal Factory of Sheets of the XVII th century.
The Logis Colbert in Bize-Minervois was formerly a Royal factory producing sheets for the Kings soldiers. It was built in the XVIIe century and closed after the French Revolution.
Active until 1789, the factory did not resist to the sale of the national possessions in 1791. It is acquired in 1836 by the back grandfather of the current owner. The Jean-Jacques family have been living there ever since that time.
Some other parts of this big and historic building were restored by his father as holiday apartments and include beautiful gardens on the side of the river Cesse with swimming pool, tennis and private parking. A variety of shops and 3 restaurants can be found in the village as well as 2 supermarkets less than 5 kms away..
Today, reconverted with happiness to shelters of holidays (apartments and independent houses by the river), it raises itself proudly at the edge of the Cesse and participates in the embellishment of the village.
In the enclosed garden, the pool (12,5 x 5,5 m), floodlit at night, is available from april 1st to october 10th, with sunlounge, sunbeds, barbecue etc. Meals may be taken in the garden where tables and chairs are provided. The games room, tennis and volleyball courts (grass) are also at your disposition. On the whole: 728 m² of garden.
- The relaxing calm of the extensive terrassed flower gardens overlooking the river with lawns down to the water's edge. In the nearby hills, walking, moutain bike circuits abound, horse riding, paragliding. Le Logis Colbert is the perfect little hideaway. The apartment was clean and tidy and the beds very comfortable. The pool was a real sun trap and a very pleasant way to cool down after a days sightseeing. We didn't have the pleasure of meeting Jean Jacques, but his mother and assistant Deliah were very friendly and helpful.
The village itself has everything you need, a friendly village shop that sells excellent wine, a selection of nice restaurants (our favourite was the Cafe de Midi). We also got the opportunity to mix with the locals, watching a petanque competition on the Monday night.A thoroughly French experience!
We would definitely recommend Le Logis Colbert and hope to return one day.
Fantastic and authentic stay. We will come again.
A beautiful house with a charming apartment. Mme Mathieu was incredibly friendly and hospitable. We really enjoyed the garden in the shade and the nice pool, especially on those hot days. Absolutely worth the stay and we would love to come back.
Le Logis Colbert is a wonderful place to stay in a quaint little French town with a nice bakery, a beautiful river, with good restaurants and wineries nearby. We didn't actually get to meet Jean-Jacques, but were welcomed by his assistant Délia who was very helpful. The rooms were beautiful, the narrow-laned town picturesque, and the area idyllic. A perfect combination!
