Alison is absolutely lovely!
She is a gracious host, and her apartment is beautiful.
I had the best stay with her. (I stayed for a week, and am sad to have left!) She is easy to talk to, and also has great tips, including tips for her favourite spots around the city.
She had some friends to visit while I was there, and it was a great time cooking, eating, and chatting together!
Her apartment is secure, clean, and very comfortable. Great living spaces, views of the city, and a fantastic kitchen to cook in! I stayed in the smaller room, which was perfect for my stay, as I was mostly out and about.
Walking around the city is no problem, but transit is also close by. The LUAS is literally a minute's walk from the front door, and a handy way to get from one end of the city to the other. There is a Tesco at the Jervis stop for groceries, as well as a Fresh Market next to the apartment. (Fresh is a bit pricey, though, but very handy.) Third Space, just South on the square from the apartment, is a great spot for breakfast, and the staff are very friendly. I frequented L. Mulligan. Grocer. in Stoneybatter for drinks and snacks quite often. Just a five minute's walk North from the apartment.
I could go on about the wonderful things in Dublin and at Ali's, but you'll have to discover for yourself!
I can't wait to stay with Alison again, and would recommend you do the same! Truly wonderful.
When you stay with Alison, you don't ever want to leave, not Smithfield and not Dublin.
Her flat is stunning and is centrally located in the city's hot spot. Lighthouse Cinema is directly downstairs and I was fortunate to catch the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival.
She's also a few minutes away from the Liffey River, which enables easy navigation if it's your first visit to Dublin.
Additionally, Alison enures that her guests feel comfortable. She has that unique personality that makes you feel welcome - in her home and in Emerald City - all the while respecting your privacy.
No need to look anywhere else. Stay with Alison and submerge yourself in the local culture. You will thank yourself later.
I spent six days at Alison's and I had a really good time there. She was very friendly and helpful from the beginning since not only let me come and go as I peleased but also told me about all the best places to visit in Dublín and outskirts.
The apartament is gorgeous and its location is perfect! You are 20 minutes away from Temple Bar, 2 minutes away from Lúas and buses and also there are bars, restaurants and a cinema downstairs.
If you want to visit Dublín castle, Gaol, Guinness and Jameson they are just some minutes away from there.
I loved my stay at Alison's. She was a great host, very friendly and helpful. The space is lovely - the views are amazing and the location is great. The apartment is right on a very quiet square, but does have a great Irish music pub and two nice restaurants/coffee bars right downstairs. Steps to the tram and walking distance to a lot of the sites one would wish to see. I didn't even buy a transport pass while I was there, as I just walked most of the time. I rented her smaller room, and it is very much a single, just a bed and dresser, but it was totally fine assuming you don't want to spend time in your room. The main space is quite airy and livable. I would definitely stay here again.
Best place ever! And the most amazing host ever!
Thanks for a lovely time Alison! :)
missing you already Maria - but very glad you have found a place to live longterm in Dublin - I hope you have a fantastic memorable time here - live love and laugh.....I feel guilty every time i use a coffee capsule by the way ;)))) but I love the cinnamon shower gel you left behind ;)
I absolutely loved my stay at Alison's place, my only regret is that my stay wasn't longer. Great location, transit is right there and there's a hop-on/hop-off stop directly across the square. Alison was a lovely host and had some great suggestions of what to do in Dublin. I would recommend Alison's place 100%.
I stayed with Alison for a week. I found Alison and her apartment to be very welcoming and relaxing. She is a kind generous, and interesting host with lots of useful knowledge about fascinating places in the city to visit. I had a great time and would strongly recommend Alison to other travellers.
The reservation was canceled 16 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Smithfield is an easy walk from pretty much every single boldface named tourist attraction in Dublin but I think the area is best if you've been to the city before and want to go one level deeper. (Or if you're somebody who prefers not to be right in the center of the touristy area -- and I definitely prefer to be outside of it a drop. Easy in, easy out but more peaceful.) I loved the area.
The best thing about the apartment: those stellar views. The photos do not lie. I didn't shut the curtains at night because I loved waking up to the view (and the night view was damn gorgeous, too). You'll wake up to church bells ringing through the city -- and I loved that, too. It was very peaceful.
Alison is a welcoming and very interesting person. I enjoyed chatting with her -- she's quite the traveler herself so understands what people need as they wander around. She loves Dublin and offers great suggestions on places to eat, things to check out, and on and on.
I had a fantastic time in Dublin with Alison in her lovely and stunning apartment in a friendly and familial atmosphere.
Great host, easy company, helpful. Thank you so much for this 4 weeks!
