About this listing
Planning on a six month leave to Paris and looking for a reliable tenant on the move like me :) The house will be available for long term starting from October 2015 until April 2016. Around the corner is John Cabot University and in reach the American Academy in Rome and Sapienza Uny. For those who are looking for a long term break to enjoy and live the true, typical roman atmosphere, here in Trastevere you will find what you are looking for! And the Vatican is 10 minutes on foot from home.
The couch opens into a very confortable bed for a third guest or a child. Cable tv with international channels, cd player, wifi
Three spacious rooms; a main bedroom with a real double bed, a kitchen with a dining area and a bright living room with a very confortable sofa that opens into a very confortable double bed, 1 bathroom.
The house is a typical Trastevere house, with its original pavements and thick walls. It is located in one of the prettiest streets in Trastevere, a neighborhood rich in history and culture, besids being one of the most lively districts of the capital.
My street is away from the noise of the more crowded streets of Trastevere, but close enought to all of it, for those who want it all :) The Botanical Garden is a few minutes walk from home. Next to its entrance is the Corsini Gallery, which houses works from the Baroque period ( including Guido Reni, Caravaggio, Rubens) and infront of the Gallery is the Accademia dei Lincei, meeting spot for world leading scientist including Galileo Galilei.
As you access my street, for those who enjoy contemporary art, one of the most well known Art Gallery is located here, just a few blocks down from home. "Fondazione Volume". If, instead you prefer history, you can visit "La Casa della Memoria e della Storia", "House of Memory and History" an institution of Rome representing the historical remembrance of antifascism, the Resistance and the War of Liberation.
If you get hangry or want to simply enjoy a coffee, then I suggest you step into the "Casa Internazionale delle Donne" the "International Womens House" located at n.1 of my street. You will step into a beautiful "700 courtyard where you can enjoy a light organic meal and simply relax reading a book under the shade of centuries old palm trees. At night, only women are allowed in! Cultural events are hosted here all year long.
Local food shops, grocery, fruit and veggy, pizzerias, just a few minutes walk from home. You can easily walk anywhere from here and I suggest you rent a bike to get around the city in the smartest, way of all :) Both summer of winter. Never too cold in Rome to have to give up my bike
When you are done with Trastevere, two minutes walk accross the bridge on the river Tiber and you are in Piazza Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Navona, Pantheon, all the main Piazze in Rome.
The apartment has wifi and washing machine. And... such an atmosphere. Trust me!
You will have access to the entire home and all its amenities: wifi, Tv, cd player, radio, electric stove, washing machine
Interaction with Guests
I like to interact via email with my guests and this is both before and during their stay at Downtown Trastevere if they need me for any help or general advice. Besides this, I like them to feel just as thery were at home, therefore, with no interference from me if no help is needed ;)
I love the fact that it is so the central, typical and lively, and at the same time, so calm and quite if you know were to go to look for some time to relax!!! My street is exactly one of those parts of Trastevere :)
The best way to get around Rome is actually walking! Take your time to wonder around and get on and off any public bus that you happen to come accross along your way! Don't waist time waiting for a bus at the bus stop ;) Best to be on the move and go with the flow!!
You will find a detailed welcome at home, with listed a few important details regarding every day life at home:)
Chiara responded to all my messages clearly and promptly. Upon my arrival I was greeted by her friend who showed me into the apartment and explained everything to me. He even recommended places to eat and drink nearby which was great. The apartment was everything I could ask for during my stay, and located perfectly to enjoy a very cool part of Rome. Chiara's apartment is nicely furnished for a comfortable stay and has some nice quirky additions to the decor. From here, you're a stone's throw from the river, the bars of Trastavere and of course St. Peter's Basilica and Vatican City.
Chiara was a very communicative host and very thoughtful, right from the moment I made the booking. Her apartment has everything you could need and is very restful, make it a wonderful oasis from rome's busy streets. The area of Trastevere is a delight!
We recently spent 5 nights at Chiara's apartment in Rome. It suited us absolutely perfectly! Although Chiara wasn't there to meet us, her two helpful, friendly colleagues were. They showed us all we needed to know and were there again when we came to leave. Communication was easy, quickly answered and we always felt informed and in touch. Chiara was exceptionally helpful in finding somewhere to store my husbands bicycle for a week and went beyond what one would expect. The apartment was ideal for us, easily accessible to all the areas we wanted to explore on foot but quiet in the evenings, at night and in the early mornings.. As she mentioned you hear the birds singing constantly! Her sitting room overlooks green trees and rooftops, but is within an easy walk of the major, very busy, tourist attractions. A comfy couch to come home to plus a small dining area which made the apartment larger than I expected. We would certainly recommend her apartment to others, it was within our budget and good value for its close proximity to central Rome.
Chiara was very good about communicating with us via e-mails and texts before our stay. This "home" is a 3 room apartment on the 2nd floor on the Vatican Side of Trastevere. The streets around this place are very quiet, well away from the Trastevere revelry. But, Trastevere and its revels and the Vatican and its wonders are very easily accessible from this "home". We used both beds, a conventional queen and a large sofa bed. Both were very comfy. We did not cook or eat in but, the kitchen and dining facilities were more than adequate for those purposes.
The bathing and laundry facilities were clean and efficient.
We spent our days exploring the city and because of this apartment's central location, we walked everywhere. It was much more convenient than we had thought it would be.
These accommodations made our trip to Rome easy and perfect
Chiara's apartment was exactly what we hoped for; bright, cozy and in an excellent location.
Chiara's apartment is fantastic! We felt like true Romans, spending a few days in the best area in Rome! We felt right at home from the beginning. Chiara provided us with lots of maps, books and the basics for a breakfast. The apartment is charmingly old, meaning that it is has character, but everything works perfectly. Location is perfect! It is a very short walk to restaurants and bars that are crowded with Italians (not tourists!- and the food was not only amazing but also cheap!), a moderately short walk to the Vatican and to Campo di Fiori, where you can get to every where else easily. My only recommendation is that you get a very good map of Rome, including the Trastevere area with the names of ALL the streets! It is very easy to walk around but also very confusing at first!! It took me one whole day getting lost (which wasn't so fun in a city like Rome!) to figure out how close I really was to everything! I'd be back there in a heart beat! I also need to mention that Chiara was available to me everytime I needed, answering all my questions about directions!! She even arranged a private driver to take us to the airport! Great great host!

About the Host, Chiara
Ciao, sono Chiara!
I like to travel and have always prefered private homes to hotels. I like to enjoy the real atmosphere of places and enjoy the local way of life.
I am very active person and like to exchange, share and socialize.
I like to meet positive and bright people who like to travel and spend their time not in expensive and formal hotels but in homes and enjoy their atmosphere just like I do. I am often away for work and having someone taking good care of my house when I am away makes me happy. My guests have always felt very welcome in my home and I have always welcomed them back when they have decided to return!
