Thanks Stephen! Your generosity was most appreciated given the wet weather! TRuly a unique place... we'll be back!
Friendly host, peaceful grounds, cute caravan and the bath under the stars -awsome! Next time i wouldnt book through airbnb, they add hefty fee-just (website hidden) gypsie caravan...
Loved the upgrade to a 2 bedroom cottage in the middle of nowhere! It was an amazing experience. We had lots of fun - no tv so lots of reading and games. Even if we hadn't been upgraded I think we have loved Pagoda Lodge anyway it looked lovely.
The accomodation was nice and tidy. Stephen was very friendly. I was pleased the location was situated in a quiet area outside of the main town.
Quirky and fun. Would certainly return. Stephen is extremely helpful and gave us excellent advice as to where to go and what to see.
My husband and I were so lucky to have been able to spend 2 amazing nights of our honeymoon in this unique and special location. Stephen and his wife were more than accommodating and were all smiles. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them for an unforgettable experience! Our gypsy caravan was right next to the river with our own private outdoor bathtub and dock to sit on. We couldn't have asked for more. We will be back again someday when we do a return trip to NZ! :) Thank you so much Stephen!
Steven is right when he speaks of a cottage that reminds you in many ways of your Grandmother, secluded, peaceful in a beautiful surrounding of nature. The architecture of the 30's and the inventory seems to be authentic from this time. Some things did not work (platter, hoover, ..) or where not there at all as promised like the washing machine (Steven said that it broke down just 2 days before our arrival and they could not get a new one this quickly. Also Wi-fi was not in the cottage (we double checked the airbnb description, both in the overview as well as in the exhaustive decription given by Steven). This really did up-set us, since we have been travelling quite a fair bit and staying in contact via (website hidden) with our beloved once in Europe really matters to us. Since the time windows are very limited it is a matter of ease and convenience to us to use Wi-fi at any time. Since the cottage is very secluded, what was really great, we had a real hard time with that, particularly on Xmas, as you can imagine. Since Steven is a mindful Buddhist we were somewhat surprised. After all we had a mindful, joyful time within the Bay of Islands with dolphins, sailing and swimming. We can highly recommend The Great Sights Dream Trip with Billy.
Thanks for those comments. We were happy to help with this last minute booking, but as the cottage has only just been refurbished (finished 2 days before the booking) we were not aware that the washing machine was out of order, until we tested it. As for the wifi we put in the description that we could offer wifi NEARBY (ie at pagoda lodge) but that may not have been made sufficiently clear, for which we apologise. I have updated the description to be more clear on this point. Thank you for your helpful comments. kind regards Stephen
the pagoda lodge was like heaven in kerikeri! stephen upgraded us to the safari tent overlooking the river & greens, the most lovely christmas gift ever. will definitely stay again when my parents visit :)
Had a wonderful, restful stay in the boathouse. We slept really well it is so quiet and peaceful. The first night on Stephens advice we walked on a beautiful path across a river to a restaurant where we had a fantastic meal.
The only downside was the long walk to the toilet in the middle of the night but I guess that wouldn't be required for everyone and it was worth it anyway!
Pagoda Lodge is a really nice and peaceful place. We spent a few nights there and enjoyed the silence and friendliness of Stephen and his Team.
