Historic Landmark Brooklyn Heights

Apartment - Private room · Montague St, Brooklyn, NY 11201, United States

The Space

Safest, wealthiest, prettiest, oldest, most convenient and historic neighborhood in Brooklyn!

Property is only 5 minutes from Downtown Manhattan via subway! Enjoy spectacular views of the NYC skyline from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade - only a 2 minute walk from the apartment. Just below the Promenade is the newly developed Brooklyn Bridge Park with lots of free and fun activities like concerts, movies, yoga and pilates classes, book readings, stargazing through telescopes, beer garden, wine bar, pool, art installations, etc.

VERY close to most subway lines - R (literally downstairs), 4/5 (1 block away), 2/3 (1 block away), F (5 min walk), A/C (5 min walk), G (8 min walk). This apartment is RIGHT in the heart of historical Brooklyn Heights - historical landmark Montague St! Norman Mailer, Truman Capote, Arthur Miller and Bob Dylan all lived here at one point, and now you can experience it too. Enjoy it's bars, restaurants, cafes, shops, conveniences, AND take a magical walk across the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan! Jay Z's Barclay Center is a subway or bus ride away, so buy tickets to your favorite music concerts before or during your booking!

Private bedroom is large and sunny, but kitchen (average), and bathroom (small) are shared with tenant (myself) who has been living in NYC for 16+ years. I'm an excellent tour guide, so you have yourself a FREE concierge thrown in :).

**Free breakfast, unlimited tea, and local magazines (Time Out NY, NY Mag, etc.)/newspapers (amNY, Metro, Village Voice, etc.) provided. Fresh linens and towels included.**

My place is very charming, quaint, cozy, naturelike and has lots of character - along with my toy Poodle mix Nilla, and my tiny African Orange Cheeked Waxbill Finch. So, if you're looking for something less sterile, plain, sparse and modern, definitely stay here. The building is dated from 1900, and includes original detailed flooring and massively high ceilings. It also has a gorgeous view of the historical gothic cathedral St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church, known for having America's first ever stained glass windows.

I hope you love my apartment and neighborhood as much as I do :).

Bob Dylan's "Tangled Up in Blue" Lyrics:

I lived with them on Montague Street
In a basement down the stairs
There was music in the cafes at night
And revolution in the air
(Tangled Up In Blue / Blood On The Tracks / 1975)

  • My friend Julia and I spent one week with Sara and this made our trip to NY very special. We felt immediately like home because the apartment is very cozy, Sara so helpfully and heartily and her dog Nilla so cute and lovely! Furthermore it is a very nice and safe area to stay and a good diversification in contrast to busy manhattan. At all times I would decide for Sara's apartment again!!!

  • Sara was very helpful and friendly. The accommodations were just what I was looking for. I will definitely stay again.

  • Sara was a gracious host and very nice. As long as you are comfortable relegating her to her own couch I highly recommend staying with her!

  • Sara is a wonderful host. Our time in New York was amazing. Saras flat is clean and cozy. Her dog is a little angle and we enjoyed our time with the two ladies a lot!! 5 stars for Sara!

  • Sara was a great host in a comfortable apartment located in a vibrant neighborhood. I stayed at Sara's for one night on a work trip. She was really communicative before my arrival so we could arrange a smooth check-in before I headed out for the plans I had that night. The following morning was equally smooth to check out. Her apartment is very neat and clean, has a lot of character, and is very conveniently located. Sara herself is very friendly, full of good advice on the neighborhood without being pushy, and even took the time to help me make sure I got on the right subway to my evening plans (I'm still a City newbie). I would gladly stay with her (and Nilla) again.

  • Sara was very helpful and obliging.
The neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights is lovely ... I particularly enjoyed my early morning walks along the Promenade overlooking New York Harbor and lower Manhattan. Transportation is convenient.
The apartment is a nice older cozy apartment ... the bedroom and bathroom might be a little small but this is New York and the price is a little small. The bed was quite comfortable.
Since Sara is in the apartment too (sleeping on the couch in the living room) with friendly dog Nilla ... the way for all to enjoy the experience is to act as though a friend of a friend is letting you stay in her apartment while you tour the city .... with each being considerate of the other ... do that and you will leave as friends. Yes, you are paying ... but not that much ... and you are getting the benefit of a New Yorker's insight into the city.
Overall a good way of visiting New York ... and yes we would do it again.

  • Me and my girlfriend Luíza had a great time at New York and Brooklin and our host contributed a lot to our wonderful trip. Sara and Nila were very sweet and gentle with us! Sara give us a lot of tips and we could try the real New York city lifestyle. We gonna miss your company and that 10 days we past in your lovely apartament!
    thanks a lot!

  • We had a great time staying with Sara – her apartment is cosy and clean and it's perfectly located for getting around Brooklyn as well as Manhattan. She also has an adorable dog! I'd recommend staying with Sara if you're going to be out and about a lot as she sleeps on the couch in the living room - we were a bit worried we would disturb her by coming in late.

  • For my first week in New York this was the perfect choice! Sara informed me, entertained me and ensured that I didn't get lost ;) The location is very central with beautiful houses and even more beautiful views of the skyline (a walk or sprint away). You can hang out and relax before exploring crazy Manhattan and will always come back to a cozy place at night. Thanks so much! I hope we stay in touch.

I work from home, and I'm studying holistic health/integrative nutrition. My background is in music business. My roommate is my toy poodle mix Nilla, and she's the best roommate I've ever had. I've been living in NYC for 16+ years, so I am the best tour guide you'll ever have. :)
