About This Listing
Imagine staying in a historic turn of the century farmhouse with redwood walls, 14-foot ceilings and tall many paned windows. Each room is outfitted to reflect Queens of ancient Egypt. There is the Ankhsenamen Room, the Nefertari Room, both of which can be rented separately for $150 a night (check my other listings), or you can rent the whole house (this listing) which can sleep up to 15 people.
There is the 30-foot long living room, with gas fireplace, air conditioner, and 2 ceiling fans. It is named for Cleopatra and has four couches that may be used for beds or just lounging. The room off the living rooms through sliding wooden doors is the Hatshepsut Room, and may have twin beds or 1 Queen sized bed as needed. Then there is the loft up winding stairs and named for Queen Nefertiti. It can sleep 5 in twin beds or be for a couple in a queen as needed. It has a half bath and there are two full bathrooms in the house downstairs, one with a bathtub the other with a shower. There is also Queen Ti’s Tearoom having another gas fireplace adjacent to the dining area with a long table for 15 people to dine. Then there is a kitchen outfitted for cooking, with a pantry with plates, wine glasses etc. required for serving. The house has wall-to-wall carpeting except in the kitchen and dining area. If you need to stay connected, note that the entire house has free wireless internet.
There are two decks. The one in front looks out on Geyser Peak off the living room and the one in back is off the kitchen and dining area. This is where the hot tub and the wood burning pyramid pizza oven are available to enjoy. There are tables and chairs for a fun party to be held in this area under a giant fig tree. There is parking right along side this house, which is set apart from the 10 acres that comprise the Isis Oasis Sanctuary, a spiritual retreat center dedicated to the ancient Egyptian Goddess Isis also known as Mother Earth.
As guests on the property, you would have access to the pool/hot tub and sauna onsite (Reminder: the Nesu Retreat House has it's own private hot tub). Additionally, you could view all the exotic cats and birds at our zoological sanctuary and partake of the events (films/plays/concerts) in our Egyptian temple themed redwood theater. 'Mummy's Kitchen' on our beautiful garden pavilion is often available for dining out and there are fine dining options within walking distance from The Nesu retreat House e.g. 'Catelli's Italian Restaurant', 'Diavola Pizzeria.' Additionally, there is 'The Geyserville Mud' coffee and pastry shop, which is a popular spot, and 'The Hoffman House Restaurant' on the north end of town, which is a terrific spot for breakfast.
We are close to many renowned wineries (Francis Ford Coppola, Trentadue, Trione, Geyser Peak, Clos Du Bois etc.), which offer wine tasting, and the Russian River is within a short walking distance for kayaking/canoeing. Lake Sonoma is about 6 miles away, and is a popular spot for boating and hiking. Additionally, River Rock Casino is close by! Please come and visit the unique...Nesu Retreat House. You don't have to travel far to be in a whole other world, time and place!

Detraci was an absolute delight and was so welcoming and professional. I was a host back in Memphis and I know the unique problems a host can face. She was very quick with messages and was very attentive to our needs. The place was truly a unique experience and I can say that our party of 17 was well accommodated. She was so generous with her time and took our entire party through a tour of the wild cat preserve. I really had a wonderful time celebrating my boyfriend's 30th birthday party and I would highly recommend this place to anyone who has to accommodate a lot of guests and wants a truly unique norther Californian experience.
This was a beautiful and welcoming house to stay in. The location in the heart of Geyserville was perfect- it was a few blocks from some great restaurants and wineries.
Each room had it's own feel and was very comfortable. The fireplaces and hottub really added to the experience as well.
Thank you for a wonderful experience and for letting us stay at the Nesu House.
We were a party of 12 who lost another reservation, were working hard to salvage a 50th birthday party and Miguel came to our rescue. By pure serendipity, we found ourselves in an unusual, but immediately comfortable living space. Plenty of room and beds inside and accommodating decks outside allowing for a great dinner, good beers and a great night for all. Within easy walking distance to town for breakfast and coffee. A unanimous thumbs up!
Two words for this place: never again.
This place was unclean and, to be honest, weird. There were cobwebs and spiders everywhere, dust, the shower did not drain well, and the sheets were gross. I even found someone else's hair in the towels left for us to use! The sponge in the kitchen look liked it had been used for years.
The beds were also uncomfortable, and there were no curtains on any of the windows so other people staying at the resort could see in! Some people in our group were so dissatisfied, they did not even stay.
Also, the hosts did not tell us that they would be using the basement of the house to do laundry. This means that the property managers were continually entering the house without our permission or knowledge.
I would not recommend this place.
Kristen, I appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention. We do certainly have a reputation for being uniquely different from other resorts. Let me respond to some of the criticisms you made. Firstly, the ceilings in the Retreat House, built in 1930 are very high, and so our housekeeper was not able to reach them with the brush she had. She now has the right brush so she can get way up there now. This is also an animal sanctuary, and the housekeeper is quite a pacifist and does not like killing spiders. So I have asked her make an effort to take the spiders outside, and then clean out their webs they left behind. As far as the towels and sheets, we always wash them after a group leaves, so that the next guests have fresh sheets and towels, so Im not sure what you are referring to. As far as the curtains go, the previous owner was particularly fond of the reed curtains over the windows, and I had been trying to get her to change them, as yes, people could see in. She is no longer with us, and the curtains have all been put into the rooms now, so there is complete privacy now (See new photos of rooms for this listing) As far as people walking into the house, the laundry entrance is outside, downstairs in the basement, so she never needed to actually walk into your space. I asked her about this, and she insisted that she only entered the basement through the outside entrance. She did say that she came over and asked you all if there was anything you needed, and that you all expressed that everything was fine. She also said that you were all partying, making quite a bit of noise until at least 3:30 in the morning, so it seemed like you were all having a very good time. We invite you to come back someday free of charge and see the improvements we have made to the Retreat House.
I have stayed at the Isis Oasis before in the Main Lodge, so this house was exactly what I was expecting. It was nice to have a more private space than the main lodge, and the living room was really cool. The atmosphere was very laid-back. Perfect for a rustic and unique weekend in wine country.
We had around 12-15 people visit throughout the weekend and everyone involved made the experience everything we hoped. Wonderfully helpful, and sincere people like Miguel were on hand to answer questions and provide advice to our group. Thank you all so much for the hospitality.

About the Host, DeTraci
I'm the director of the Isis Oasis Sanctuary, a beautiful and magical retreat center and lodge in the heart of the Alexander Valley wine country in Sonoma County.I worked very closely with Loreon Vigne, who owned the Retreat Center for 35 years, and who unfortunately recently passed away. She was a San Franciscan where she created a line of giftware and jewelry and came to the country to retire in 1978 on a 10 acre plot of land in beautiful Alexander Valley. She spent this time creating art and beauty on her property which has a number of interesting buildings of historic significance including a 600 year old heritage tree. She dedicated the land to the ancient Egyptian Goddess Isis, otherwise known as Mother Earth. Instead of retiring, She used her time making her property a living art project. We are a non-profit organization housing exotic cats and birds of many species including a vivarium of interesting insects and small reptiles. There is also an art gallery for her artwork on the property as well as a gift bazaar offering ancient Egyptian altar pieces. There is a permaculture garden and labyrinth on the property to enjoy. We have a pool and spa, Isis meditation temple and a redwood walled theater where concerts/plays/films are showcased, plus some cob structures built of local earth by Miguel Elliott. Please come and visit us at our unique peaceful sanctuary...I look forward to meeting you.
