The Space

We have a private entrance guesthouse for rent complete with full kitchen, large fridge, wireless internet, updated bathroom, Murphy bed, and television. We are just a few blocks off beautiful Bayshore Blvd and a Starbucks is just steps away for those early mornings. In addition, the famous Datz Deli is just a couple blocks away! We are about 2 miles from all the bars and restaurants of South Howard Ave and nearby Hyde Park. We often ride our bikes downtown to catch a Lightning game or hop in our car for the 20 minute drive to downtown St. Pete or to Florida's best beaches and the airport is only about 6 miles away.

This is a newly renovated guesthouse of a preserved 1926 bungalow in the heart of South Tampa. We are both young professionals fairly new to the Tampa area and are excited about the opportunity to host. We'd be more than happy to help point you in the direction of some of our favorite spots to help you get the most out of your stay.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Joe's guest house was great. It had everything we needed and was clean. (The bathroom was particularly clean, which is always really important to us!) It was easy to find—adorable neighborhood and really charming backyard. If you are looking for a romantic getaway, the murphy-style bed might not be your cup of tea. However, the location was super convenient to nearby shops and restaurants, really cute, and safe. Joe was extremely helpful and prompt. We would definitely stay here again! Thanks for a great trip to Tampa!

  • Joe's place is conveniently located, clean, and came with a great host. Joe was very accommodating and provided plenty of recommendations on where to eat and visit. If you are looking for a quiet and comfortable spot while visiting Tampa, we highly recommend staying here.

  • The guesthouse is fantastic! Private entrance so we didn't bother our hosts with crazy o'clock comings and goings, the neighborhood is gorgeous, and the property is just beautiful. Elvis (the dog) and Johnny Cakes (the cat) both kept us smiling. The chickens kept us on schedule, too :D

If you're looking to sleep in late, make sure you close the kitchen window or the birds will get you up around seven in the morning.

I highly recommend walking down to Bayview and taking your time along that path. The wildlife is varied and awesome! We saw matinees, rays, fish, guppies, gulls, and even two hunting osprey!

Practically on top of downtown, only a half hour from Busch Gardens or the Big Cat Rescue, an hour from Disney. Perfect area for avoiding toll roads.

  • The well equipped, beautifully decorated, clean and cozy guesthouse is perfectly located especially if the Tampa international airport is an arrival or departure point. We stayed just one night but our brief stay here was enough to tempt us back for a longer visit. Joe was the perfect host; welcoming, answering our questions and providing us with the advice we needed for a very pleasant stay- Brickhouse restaurant for late night dinner, Pinkys for breakfast and Fort De Soto for the visual feast. Thank you Joe.

  • Joe and Kaitlyn were the perfect hosts and their self-contained outhouse was immaculate and perfectly equipped. The fold-down murphy bed was very easy to use and comfortable, the kitchen meant I could walk round to the local supermarket and buy stuff to make, rather than relying on eating out. At the same time if you do eat out nearby don't miss Pinky's for breakfast or Datz's for dinner. The outhouse is very tastefully decorated, with a comfortable sofa and plenty of surfaces if you need to get out your laptop and work, which I did. This was an ideal base from which to attend a convention in downtown Tampa - all made possible by Joe and Kaitlyn, and by the nearby bicycle rental shop Outspokin. Joe provided with me with information on all the local amenities, and helped me to work out the bus timetable. He was right about the advantages of using a bike as I was able to appreciate the stunning sunrise along Bayshore Boulevard. The garden at the house is immaculate too and the whole place has a sense of well-being about it. Thank you Joe and Kaitlyn. I hope I get the chance to return one day!

  • Great stay. This guest house is quaint and has everything you need. The Murphy bed was actually pretty darn comfy and I would definitely recommend for the budget traveler.

  • Thank you Joe & Kaitlyn we had a really lovely time staying in your bohemian guesthouse. The location gave us the perfect opportunity to explore an exciting area of the Gulf Coast. The house had everything that we could have wanted and more for our stay, was very clean and very comfortable. We loved being surrounded by all your interesting treasures. Although the house is in your garden, it felt very private and not overlooked. You were extremely helpful and communication was excellent. We genuinely fell in love with Florida and would highly recommend your Guest House to any traveller.

  • Our first airbnb experience, but won't be our last. Joe and Kaitlyn were terrific hosts, always checking to see if there was anything we needed. Most of our stay in the Tampa area included spring training games (Detroit Tigers), leaving only a few days for other activities. Joe urged us to check out Ft DeSoto Park. Wow, what a treasure, not so crowded with beautiful white sand beaches, nature trails, and even a well maintained 'doggy park'. We spent one day there intending to return. However time and weather interfered so we hope to return to Joes guest house next year to further explore this and other attractions the area has to offer (Tiger spring training included, of course).

  • Joe's place is phenomenal. As hosts Joe and Kaitlyn are friendly, welcoming, accommodating and attentive. Fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies where waiting for me when I arrived - amazing. Their guest house is comfortable, decorated like a home and has everything one needs for an extended stay, including a full spread of snacks, breakfast foods, teas and coffees - which goes beyond a lot of the boutique hotels I've stayed at. Don't be thrown by the murphy bed - it really is comfortable. I was able to cook 4 of the 5 nights I stayed like I was back in my own kitchen. Of all the places I've stayed so far, it was the cleanest on arrival, without question. I've been on a six week airbnb trek across the Tampa area and it's been far and away the best I've stayed at. I'm looking forward to staying with them again when I return to Tampa and am fortunate to have met two outstanding people here.

Kaitlyn is a prosecutor and Joe works for a bank, though his mind is always venturing off to plan our next great adventure to some far off destination. We love to travel and get to know new people. Joe is a Gator, and Kaitlyn is a Bulldog and yet, we find a way to make it work!
