This beautiful property overlooks 60 sweeping miles of the South Kona coast line including stunning views of Kealakekua Bay and the Captain Cook Monument. Cottage is the best of Old Hawaii with all the modern amenities.
This private, secluded and charming Old Hawaii style Ohana (family dwelling) is 5 minutes from beautiful Kealakekua Bay, Manini Beach, and Keei Beach. The bay is famous for its incredible snorkeling, standup paddling, kayaking and opportunities to swim with the local pod of spinner dolphins.
The cottage has a queen-size bed, a well appointed kitchen, gas barbeque, covered lanai and sweeping views of the south Kona coastline. The full bathroom offers a shower overlooking Kealakekua Bay and the Captain Cook monument. Along with charming Old Hawaii ambiance, enjoy the modest conveniences of Wi-Fi, and flat screen TV with DVD player. The cottage is surrounded by a lush tropical garden including palm, mango, papaya, avocado, banana, and citrus trees along with many exotic flowering Hawaiian plants.
This property is well located, close to the beach and within minutes to shopping and restaurants, including a grocery store that carries many local and organic options, plus a weekly farmers market. Within walking distance is the Paleaku Peace Garden where guests can take yoga classes or spend a quiet meditative afternoon. Nearby also is the historic Painted Church and City of Refuge at Honaunau.
There are many hiking opportunities and local beaches waiting to be explored in this rural Kona neighborhood. Peter and Barbara can offer lots of local knowledge as to the little known hot spots of this South Kona community.
Beach chairs, beach towels, cooler and cold packs are available to guests for their beach days. We also provide snorkeling gear for guests, if it fits!

I cannot recommend this place enough! Peter is a wonderful host- very welcoming, quick to respond to questions, and full of information and awesome suggestions for any adventure you may be looking to have during your stay. I highly recommend doing a kayak/snorkel trip to Captain Cook Monument with him- that was a highlight of our trip.
The cottage was perfect- clean, bright, and had everything you could need. I knew it looked like a good location from the pics but just wait till you get there- pics don't do it justice. You can't beat the views, the breezes, the sounds of nature and the seclusion of this place.
This was the best Airbnb that we have stayed at to date. It couldn't be in a better location, minutes away from the best snorkelling on the big island -- follow Peter and Barbara's recommended spots to check out. Situated halfway down a windy road, with sweeping views of south kona, the temperature is perfect -- out of the heat but never cold. The cottage is ballin -- sliding Japanese screen door, salvaged port hole windows, stained glass, etc. You can sightsee while you shower, and barbecue on the balcony while you watch the sunset.
We enjoyed our stay here immensely and would recommend it to anyone. When we come back to the big island, we're staying here again. Mahalo Peter and Barbara!
Peter was an amazing host. Very easy going and even easier to talk to. The cottage was perfect for my wife and I and the grounds we immaculate. Our stay was the best stay I've had to date with airbnb. The best part of the trip is when I asked Peter where to go for a kayak/snorkeling trip and he offered to take us on a private tour. It was the best snorkeling experience my wife and I have ever had. You must take this tour. Thanks Peter, we will be back.
Peter was a very good host. He provides guides and guides books to local attractions and food. He took us on a kayak paddle to the best snorkeling site in the area. The view from the house is wonderful.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Red Ti Hale. It's a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a sun set while sipping a cool Long Board on the covered lani. Peter was a good host who pointed us in the direction of several near by beaches which we explored. Thanks so much to Peter for personally taking us on a kayaking trip to see the spinner dolphins down in the local bay.

We had a great 3 night stay here. Excellent location, a super-sweet breeze filled room on a wonderfully landscaped property. Enjoyed snorkeling in the nearby ocean, and sunset views from the private covered porch. Peter was a gracious host and provided numerous suggestions for activities in the area as well as my favorite Hawaiian fruit: apple bananas! Would definitely come back and stay again!

Peter and Barbara have mixed histories on the Big Island. Peter, a 20 year resident and recently retired, is enjoying all the water sports available within a few minutes of his home, especially snorkeling and stand up paddling. Barbara is newer to Hawaii and commutes from the main land to join Peter with his adventures as often as possible. Both are passionate about the South Kona area and give back to the community that has given them so much by volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and Friends of Manini Beach. Peter is an avid gardener and when not on the water can be found planting, transplanting and trimming in his exotic Hawaiian garden. Barbara, when not following Peter on some bay or reef excursion, is busy identifying and learning the habits of the local birds that share the accommodations on their beautiful parcel of land. Both find time daily to sit quietly and watch incredible sunsets on Kealekakua Bay from the lanai of their recently renovated historic Hawaiian home.
