Situated in a quiet residential area 15 minute walk east of Glasgow city centre and Queen Street Station. Two minute walk from the best coffee in town!
Our home is a typical Victorian sandstone villa* with many original features and located within the Dennistoun conservation area. Two houses down is the Lady of Good Council Church one of Glasgows more famous modern churches built in 1966 design by Gillespie Kidd & Coia Architects.
Glasgow is full of landmark buildings celebrating it's rich architectural heritage and has been described as " the great ecclesiastical city, the city of the unimaginably wealthy tobacco lords, merchant city, cotton city, industrial city and second city of the Empire."
Glasgow is Scotlands largest and liveliest city. As well as it's renown Victorian and other distinct architectural gems the city has many attractions to offer including some of the best shopping ,restaurants, parks and galleries Scotland has to offer.
The house is filled with family and friends with various schedules so can sometimes be very quiet or very busy. Main occupants are myself (architect) and my son (Jed, 5) and my brother (engineer) who has helped turn this house into a home over the last few years as we slowly renovated. Almost there (but never quite with old houses) we enjoy sharing the plentiful space . All very laid back and peaceful with the occasional event, film screening or feast held.
All rooms have network points. Wireless broadband throughout the house. Underfloor heating in both bathrooms, wood burning stoves in hall and kitchen for winter warmth. Open fire in the old dining room (now lounge) and one of the bedrooms. Projector available for film screenings in the old dining room.
Private parking can be arranged prior to arrival, plenty of on street free parking.
I have two rooms available if the dates you are looking for aren't available please check Room Two.
* Please be aware that Victorians weren't very good at insulating, and whilst we have tried our best to seal every draft and insulate were we can the house will possibly be very cold to those used to either warmer climates or the benefits of insulated cavities. The primary heat source downstairs is two wood burning stoves, if you are up before I am to light them it can be quite cold indeed. Slippers and thermals recommended in the winter months (bedrooms have great big cast iron radiators so they are nice and warm)
Didn't interact with Verity very much but were welcomed by Felix and Toby who made us feel very at home and helped us with our bags upstairs. Beautiful house with an incredible bathroom, very friendly environment and every convenience available. Very willing to provide directions and how to get to places around Glasgow. Provided wifi, netflix and washing machine. Easy 15-20 min walk into the city center, would highly recommend this acommodation.

The house is beautiful and the people very friendly. We felt at home.
Verity is a nice and discreet person. The room was clean, cozy and comfortable. Bathroom put at our disposal was spacious and clean. There was often someone to help us as Verity lives in the house with roommates and her brother and son who are all very welcoming.
Nous n'avons pas vu Verity mais nous avons été très bien accueillis par son frère et avons eu des contacts amicaux avec les occupants de la maison.
Verity and her brother are great. The house was huge and had so much character! My bed was really comfortable and all the other guests were nice too. The neighborhood was convenient to Glasgow. I would recommend staying here.
We had a great stay at Verity's. She and her familiy make everyone very welcome at their nicely renovated home. They have put a lot of effort into renovating it to new standards, such as the bathroom, but have put thought into preserving the old, which makes a great mixture. I felt that the pictures which you see do not live up to what it's really like.
There's always someone around at Verity's, either familiy and friends or other guests, so it's very lively at their home and if you wish there is someone to have a good chat with.
Verity provides a basic breakfast of cereals and bread, and tea to help yourself and if you wish, you also have your spare box in the fridge named with the room number to store food for breakfast, lunch or dinner. You are welcome to use the kitchen, which is very well equipped, and if you are lucky enough, Verity has just been baking some of her delicious muffins/cup-cakes.
The house is a decent 15 min walk away from the Glasgow cathedral in the east of the city, so you are really central but not in a very busy place. The directions given are exakt and the house is easy to find, though we had difficulties understanding the bus's station announcement / the bus stations' names.
Beautiful house tastefully decorated. It feels like an arty ambience throughout the home : the tenant plays Violon, the other one piano. Verity is very kind and friendly. So, a very pleasant atmosphere.
I love this house and will stay there every time I visit Glasgow if I can. The rooms are grand and it is filled with sun, artists and love.
Beautiful, soulful place. Would love to stay here again in the future.
