This great Urban Cottage has cable, wireless internet, free parking for up to two cars, washer and dryer and is easily accessible to Downtown Halifax, shopping malls and business centers, major highways, and an easy commute to many tourist attractions such as Peggy's Cove!
Public bus stop minutes away, near walking trails and lakes. House can easily accommodate up to 4 adults, or more if needed.
Kitchen is fully outfitted for meals at home, all you need are the groceries. Meals are not prepared however, coffee juice, cereal provided and you are welcome to use whatever is currently in the kitchen. Appliance include coffee maker, toaster, blender, microwave, fridge, stove/oven.
I have one room with a double bed, and one room with a slightly smaller bed/fold out futon (it is actually very sturdy and comfortable compared to most futons that I've slept on)! Towels, shampoo/soap, etc. are available as well!
Guests have access to the entire house, yard, bbq, driveway for two cars, and if required bicycles and other outdoor equipment can be provided.
Interaction with Guests
My guests can expect to have as much communication with me as possible, however I am often not present during check in and check out times due to schedule conflicts. If the guests prefer to have me present I can make that happen most times, and I am ALWAYS available by phone, email, or text message as well. I aim to provide a pleasant experience for guests, and to allow them their privacy. Aside from checking in once in a while during longer stays, my goal is allow my guests their privacy and to enjoy their stay and I am just a phone call or email away if anything is needed or they have questions!
The Armdale area of Halifax is a wonderful spot to be in! We are centrally located within the city of Halifax, making it an easy commute to other areas in and out of the city. In the summer time it is a beautiful walk to Chocolate Lake, and also a quick walk to the Rails to Trails walking and biking path.
Public transit is very accessible at my house, and I provide a bus schedule at the house for guests to refer to. There are two bus stops, one directly across the street and one a short block away. In addition, taxi cabs are always available in the area.
No smoking inside please!
This is a Residental area, so please no loud parties!
Nova Scotia is a leader in recycling and waste collection, which means we have strict rules on sorting waste... I have an organics waste bin which I appreciate guests using as well!
The barbeque on the deck is free for you to use, just please make sure that the propane is turned off once you are done cooking!
We had a good time in Halifax and in Catherine's flat. The lock system was practical and worked well. The apartment was as described. There were no shops close by, so a car or use of public transportation is needed - we had a car so not a major issue really. However, there were some expired(old) foods and drinks in the fridge that we had to clean. Coffee maker was useful. We enjoyed our stay. This is good and economical way to experience Halifax and Nova Scotia in general.
We really enjoyed our stay here. I was surprised to see so many extras supplied in the kitchen. They were very much appreciated, especially the coffee and lemon loaf. The house was clean with more than enough room for us. The area was close to everywhere that we wanted to visit. We had a great time in Halifax. Oh...also want to mention that the flower in the vase made me smile when we entered through the door.
We felt very home at Catherine's apartment .
It was clean, lovely decorated and well equipped .
Located only 10 minutes by car from the city center it was close enough to everything and far away to be quiet .
We really enjoyed our time at Catherine's apartment und recommend it to everyone who wants to stay in Halifax !
Just take care walking on the veranda when it is wet,it becomes very slippery !
The listing was accurate. While we did not actually speak to Catherine, she had left a lot of literature about the surrounding area. in the house. She answered my phone message query quickly. The house was clean and spacious. It was well located to do day trips to Peggy's Cove etc
We had a great stay here. The house was nice and in a good area not too far from the downtown area. I recommend this place to anyone.
Catherine's place was a much welcome home away from home and office away from office during my work trip to Halifax.
It was perfect to hide and work quietly but also provided a lovely space to chill out and relax.
And having a freshly made lemon loaf made me feel like I was actually coming home.
Thank you to Catherine and her Mum for such warm welcome.
Catherine left some extra welcoming touches including flowers and a big basket of maps etc to help us navigate our stay in halifax. A very comfortable, well heated and well equipped little house, perfect for our stay. It is a little out of Halifax proper, but easy with a car, and doable by bus as well (2-3 buses go past the door).
