Our Urban Cottage in the Armdale Area is a great way to experience Halifax and the all of Nova Scotia! With parking, public transportation nearby, and easy access to highway, scenic routes, and city center the list of things to do is endless.
The whole house available in a convenient Halifax location!
This great Urban Cottage has cable, wireless internet, free parking for up to two cars, washer and dryer and is easily accessible to Downtown Halifax, shopping malls and business centers, major highways, and an easy commute to many tourist attractions such as Peggy's Cove!
Public bus stop minutes away, near walking trails and lakes. House can easily accommodate up to 4 adults, or more if needed.
Kitchen is fully outfitted for meals at home, all you need are the groceries. Meals are not prepared however, coffee juice, cereal provided and you are welcome to use whatever is currently in the kitchen. Appliance include coffee maker, toaster, blender, microwave, fridge, stove/oven.
I have one room with a double bed, and one room with a slightly smaller bed/fold out futon (it is actually very sturdy and comfortable compared to most futons that I've slept on)! Towels, shampoo/soap, etc. are available as well!
Guests have access to the entire house, yard, bbq, driveway for two cars, and if required bicycles and other outdoor equipment can be provided.
Interaction with Guests
My guests can expect to have as much communication with me as possible, however I am often not present during check in and check out times due to schedule conflicts. If the guests prefer to have me present I can make that happen most times, and I am ALWAYS available by phone, email, or text message as well. I aim to provide a pleasant experience for guests, and to allow them their privacy. Aside from checking in once in a while during longer stays, my goal is allow my guests their privacy and to enjoy their stay and I am just a phone call or email away if anything is needed or they have questions!
The Armdale area of Halifax is a wonderful spot to be in! We are centrally located within the city of Halifax, making it an easy commute to other areas in and out of the city. In the summer time it is a beautiful walk to Chocolate Lake, and also a quick walk to the Rails to Trails walking and biking path.
Public transit is very accessible at my house, and I provide a bus schedule at the house for guests to refer to. There are two bus stops, one directly across the street and one a short block away. In addition, taxi cabs are always available in the area.
No smoking inside please!
This is a Residental area, so please no loud parties!
Nova Scotia is a leader in recycling and waste collection, which means we have strict rules on sorting waste... I have an organics waste bin which I appreciate guests using as well!
The barbeque on the deck is free for you to use, just please make sure that the propane is turned off once you are done cooking!
My 9 years old son and I had a wonderful stay at Catherine's Urban Cottage. My son lives in Halifax and I traveled from Brazil to spend some time with him. In the past we used to stay at Best Western Chocolate Lake (a very good hotel), but this time I wanted to provide a more cozy and familiar environment for my son. The experience at Catherine's place met all my expectations. The house is charming, well equipped and clean. I felt I was living in Canada!
The listing description was accurate, the photos too ... but there's a good vibe in this sweet little house that photos can't illustrate. It's a lovely little house that I felt right at home in. Catherine left us a welcome note and if I'd had any problems or questions I'm sure she would have been right there for us. Her email communication was clear and warm. Halifax had undergone severe winter conditions leaving mounds and mounds of ice that the city and homeowners were struggling to remove and Catherine did a valiant job of making the pathway up to her house safer for us, a very difficult job given the ice circumstances. I appreciated that very much! Thanks to Catherine for offering up this sweet home on airbnb.
My three daughters and I had a marvelous experience at Catherine's urban cottage. It was very conveniently located and had everything we could have asked for and even more. Catherine kept in contact to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Very tastefully decorated and sparkling clean, it was a real haven after long days of being out and about in Halifax. We loved the Arbonne products that were available and the fact that she is environmentally conscious was evident in the recycling process that she asked us to respect and the cleaning products used.
Thank you so much for everything, Catherine. We will be back!

Good location, 10 minutes away from the crowds of Halifax !
Cute little house very cosy ! Parking spot really convenient down the house !
Catherine was easy to communicate with at all stages of the stay ! We loved the great spa products (actually my wife and I ;) in the shower and the environmental conscience Catherine displays.
Found a lovely welcome basket and note from Catherine. Loved the combination entrance. Sweet little house with everything we needed. Halifax in winter is not my first choice but our granddaughter decided to arrive Jan.1st. The Arbonne products were an added bonus.
Only issue was the slightly treacherous stairs leading up to the house, but salt and a shovel were provided.
We rented Urban Cottage for our son and daughter in law and found it to be beautifully and comfortably furnished, very clean and a perfect size. Catherine left a yummy lemon loaf for them and provided lots of information about the house and Halifax. Although not downtown, this spot is located in a very convenient area - minutes to downtown by car or bus. You can walk to Chocolate Lake, the Arm (with a gorgeous view of the Dingle), a nearby hiking and walking trail, Halifax Shopping Center and several restaurants. We highly recommend Urban Cottage!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Urban Cottage. It was exactly as we expected (very clean, and cozy) with many nice extra touches (homemade lemon loaf, Keurig coffee machine, etc..). Such a nice change from hotel stays especially with young children! We definitely recommend Catherine's place for a nice retreat in the city!
