Country Manor river celebrations

House - Private room · Sudbury Rd, Concord, MA 01742, United States

The Space

This is a one day event rental. This wonderful flowing farmland and 1905 Concord estate is perfect for weddings, receptions and other celebratory events.

While we cannot make reservations more than three or four months in advance, it works well with a tent and caterers with ample parking, access to a large open kitchen and space to roam. While this is intended primarily for outdoor events, the home has large open spaces to provide respite from the music or weather.

(disclosure..the house is on the market and any event must have a permit by the town, and rentals for overnight should be 30 day minimums.)

This rolling field of 40 acres leads directly down to a peninsula and a dock to the Sudbury River. Pontoons and canoes pass by from the North Bridge Boat House. We have had local guests arrive by kayak!

The photo opportunities are many with large sculptures and flowers and the changing foliage .

There are three patios and a large screened porch as well with a gracious flow.

If you rent in the winter, for a holiday party, there are three downstairs fireplaces and several different seating areas on the ground floor to break into different groups. There is a large kitchen with a huge island where people can sit, a living room with a large coffee table, a dinning room with another large table and a studio with another large table for eating.

The price may very depending on numbers , age and inside or outside.
This does not include the upstairs...its for an event . Preference is for mature groups.....we have been through children and the college party phrase already!!

  • Such a wonderful stay at Karens magical home in aquinnah. She was more than accommodating as she updated our stay due to our booking in March. My daughters and I were able to enjoy the full property with views of the pond while practicing yoga on the large deck. Everything we needed was there. I was ready to move in. Thanks Karen!

  • Karen's home is spectacular. I was truly sorry to leave and can't wait to have an excuse to return. It is obviously the home of artists and world travelers with a keen eye to detail, charm and beauty. Furnishings are extremely comfortable while simultaneously one feels they are living in a museum. My only regret was not having time enough to invite friends and family to enjoy the experience. Karen is lovely and an excellent communicator. Anyone with an opportunity to be a guest in this house should consider themselves quite fortunate.

  • Fantastic place!! We had a wonderful time at his beautiful property. It definitely lives up to the photos and is spacious, historic, and charming with abundant character. The setting is incredible and we enjoyed exploring the grounds and walking to the river. Concord is nearby and has fun shops and historic places to visit. Karen was very easy to communicate with and worked with us on a flexible check-in and check-out. I highly recommend this property.

  • I stayed in the loft for a week during the fall season. It was simply gorgeous inside and out... the fact that Thoreau used to live and write on this land makes it that much more special. Karen and Lauren were very friendly and accommodating. I'd love to stay again and would recommend their place to anyone.

  • Karen was a great hostess. My husband, infant, and I stayed in the main house for two nights and couldn't have had a better time. The morning light through the windows was just magical. We went to the private beach one afternoon and we were one of only two groups there; the house has umbrellas, beach chairs, and towels. Beautiful kitchen for cooking and grill for barbecuing. We would love to come again for a longer visit!

  • The Square Building certainly offered the relaxing and unique space for which we were looking. We would love to stay again, potentially in another area of the compound, the next time we have the opportunity to visit the Vineyard. We were very impressed all around and the accommodations exceeded our expectations. Being able to bring our dog was a significant bonus. Karen was a prompt and candid communicator which helped us feel comfortable leading up to and during our stay. Thank you Karen!

  • We absolutely loved this place! Karen was very helpful and personable, and their home is far too unique and well designed for the photos to convey. There is an understated thoughtfulness and authenticity behind each detail in the house that creates an air of curiosity and creativity amongst those who stay there.

  • Even though she's based in Cali, Karen was the consumate host. Incredibly helpful, responsive going out of her way to make our stay as comfortable as possible.

The house is absolutely incredible and something you have to see and of course stay in to really appreciate.

It's magical in some ways and eclectic in others, but ultimately it's the type of place you'll remember forever and that's what were were looking for and why we chose to stay.

  • While we only stayed for a weekend, it was amazing. This house is extremely unique, and full of character. This house is the perfect place to stay with a large family or group of friends who want to experience Martha's Vineyard. The bedrooms are all different, but if you're willing to have a little variability, it's not a problem at all. The grounds are beautiful, and the views are spectacular. We had a wonderful time, and would recommend it to anyone. On top of that, Karen was very responsive and was a great host.

  • Karen's place is beautiful—it felt very much like a home. It is well-equipped, comfortable, and distinctive. It is a very quiet part of the island, with an excellent view of the night sky and a sliver of water. I didn't get to stay for very long, but I imagine it might be best as a retreat, for reading and lying down. Best to have a car.

She was accommodating in a tight spot—last-minute reservations. I recommend it without any... reservations.

Founder/CEO - Two Degrees Food (Lauren) Wife Karen is art therapist and sculptor
Lauren Walters is an entrepeneur- grew up in Missouri - worked in the US Senate, lived in Concord for 25 years - chairs a few boards, - one in ed and technology - another in consensus building - and is now the founder and ceo of Two Degrees Food - a social venture based in SF. see (website hidden). We have moved to the Mill Valley area and -have two sons, Ed and Peter. They often help manage these properties so we will mention them here. Ed is working in Cambridge, having just left DC and Brookings. Peter, more recently graduated from Trinity College, is working with Two Degrees in business development and is a tall ship sailor! Karen Cadenhead is currently a sculptor and was previously a professor of Art Therapy.- She hails from Oklahoma. (she is pinch hitting with Two Degrees when needed in art and account management ) As a couple we love to travel, meet new people and explore new ideas. We would be called early adopters. We spent the first years of our married life renovating and creating to collect architectural salvage and make it into something. Now we are exploring innovative ways to have social impact. While network seems a trivial term, we not only know a lot of people but love to connect them in useful ways. We have found this site an unexpected way to discover like minded people and in some cases, have become friends.
