The Townhouse is a beautiful & light-filled duplex apartment in a landmarked rowhouse in Brooklyn's booming Greenpoint Historic District, on the riverfront just north of bustling Williamsburg. Walk to the Bedford "L" subway stop, or just a few blocks from the Greenpoint "G" stop. East River Ferry service (with multiple stops in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens) is ~5 blocks from the house, on the India Street waterfront. Plenty of restaurants, bars, boutiques, cafes, galleries, banks, gyms, etc all within blocks.
This home has been published in multiple design magazines and featured in fashion and film shoots.

Upper Floor: bedroom, master bathroom (6' clawfoot tub & 2 sinks) and office with lofted guest sleeping alcove
Roof Terrace: barbecue, small fridge, dining table with umbrella, sun chairs + bistro sunset aperitif table!
Very quiet tree-lined residential street. Full kitchen with gas stove, oven and full-size refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. Television with satellite cable & DVR. This sunny home is furnished with a variety of antiques and modern accessories.
Bedroom has a Queen size bed, guest loft has a Double bed. Window air conditioning unit in the bedroom, ceiling fans throughout the house.
Laundry (washer & dryer) in basement.
*Please note: this is a duplex apartment with an OPEN STAIRWELL and open guest loft; renter accepts the property as-is and acknowledges that it is likely not suited for small children or anyone requiring a handrail.
Also, I own an antique store and do design projects, so every now & then pieces of furniture get swapped out or moved around within the apartment. The pictures in the photo gallery are completely accurate for the space itself as well as an indication of my style, but individual items periodically change.
Everything at the house is pretty straight-forward. Please adhere to local recycling rules (paper is separated from the regular trash, and there's also a separate bin for plastic/glass/metal).
Check-in is at 2 pm and check-out at 11am but I try to be flexible depending on everyone's schedule; let's coordinate directly.
You are more than welcome to have your friends over and I certainly want you to make yourself at home and enjoy your stay, but please no big parties & no groups of total strangers :-) This is a historic neighborhood of rowhouses so please also be respectful of the neighbors, all of whom are very nice (close front door quietly rather than slamming, etc).
- Stay only on the decked area
- No more than 6 people on the roof
- Vacate roof by 10:30pm when the City noise ordinance goes into effect
- Remove your garbage
- Keep volume down in deference to neighbors
Have a wonderful visit!
Maya was a gracious host. She responded to all my queries in detail and allowed us to keep luggage past check-out time. The Duplex was accurately portrayed in AirBnB with an eclectic homey feel that is unique to the conventional hotel experience. Accessibility to Manhattan was fairly easy. Due to our packed schedule in Manhattan, unfortunately, we did not have much chance to explore Greenpoint, Brooklyn which looked to be an upcoming trendy neighborhood.
We had a wonderful stay in NYC... Only wish it could have been longer. Maya has a beautiful space which became our home away from home, we stayed on the first and second floors.. The decor creates an ambience for a laid back pace which Greenpoint has as well... I was surprised how quiet the apartment was and very handy to grocery stores , bakeries, yoga and the metro.. G line then line 6 and 7 to take us into union square .. Around 20-30 minutes I guess. Locally there is an amazing flea market on Sunday's and it's all within walking distance. Definitely quite a few things to explore in the neighbourhood in terms of shops and restaurants too. As I've found with air bnb stays sometimes there are glitches with something or other ( just like at home!) .. Although our stay coincided with a plumbing issue Maya was very considerate and prompt in her dealing with the situation and I think this is when a super host really shines through . The weather was warm whilst we were there but on all levels there are windows which allow a nice cross breeze which we enjoyed. We did not use the aircon in the bedroom but it was brought in when the weather hotted up but we preferred the natural ventilation and besides the heat subsided , so might be different in late July . If you are happy to explore the boroughs outside of Manhattan then the Brooklyn Williamsburg area won't disappoint and Maya's home is a great space to come home to.
Maya was amazing and made the whole experience so easy!
I booked this apartment for a colleague who was attending a conference in Brooklyn and he just loved it. The apartment is in a great location and felt like home!
A wonderfully eclectic location, artfully decorated. And just one block from excellent restaurants and cafes. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful time staying at Maya's house. As soon as we got to her place we felt at home. It's a beautiful, calm and relaxing space. It's full of character, with many inventive details, nice objects and charming antiques.
We didn't have the chance to meet Maya but we communicated by text and everything worked out well. She provided us with lots of useful tips and reccomandations about the area. We tried some eateries she suggested and they were all excellent.
Greenpoint is a safe and welcoming neighborhood with a unique atmosphere, warmer and more authentic than busy Manhattan. Williamsburg is only a few blocks away and you can explore it on foot. The area has many bars, coffee shops, restaurants and nice vintage stores. Manhattan is easily accessible with a 20 min ride on the subway (the G line is very close to the house, while the L line can be reached with a pleasant 15 min walk).
If you feel like climbing a quite steep flight of stairs you'll reach a lovely roof terrace and you'll be rewarded with a gorgeous view of the Empire State building. We couldn't ask for more. Grazie Maya!
Bellissima vacanza, grazie.
