Great Place and People in Wexford
Declan and Kathy were very kind and infinitely patient as I bothered them repeatedly about my arrival date and time, changes in plans, whether I could leave a bag there...the list went on and on, I'm a bit embarrassed to admit. They always responded quickly, graciously and in the most helpful way possible. The short version of this review is that I stayed for a month and I wouldn't change a thing. Everything was great!
This bright, airy very clean place is perfect for a couple (or single). Room for a small child as well but I wouldn't think it suitable for more people than that. There was a nice shower with plenty of hot water and a proper shower curtain so you don't have to worry about getting water everywhere (which I encounter all the time, all over Europe).
There is an easy to use washer and dryer (separate units) in the bedroom, contained in what you would guess is a closet. Wonderful to have. I am not a big sleeper but I slept wonderfully well on the plenty-big-enough-for-two bed. The bedroom is a separate room from the other, larger room, with a door that closes. (To be clear, the bathroom is off the bedroom.) Two nightstands with drawers and a full chest provide lots of space for your clothes. Also, there is a clothes rack and lots of nice wood hangers, as well.
There is a dining table, a comfy couch and kitchen area in the main room. As in the bedroom and bathroom, nice windows here too so there is lots of fresh air in the apartment.
The sink, stove, oven, French press, water heater for coffee, and fridge all worked perfectly and I used them all a lot. There was nothing I needed in the kitchen as far as utensils.
Even though Declan and Kathy are next door, sharing a wall, it was incredibly quiet. Apparently, on the other side of the wall is a hallway. My point is I never had to worry that I was bothering them.
The location is very good, and I didn't have a car. If you do, it certainly looked like there was lots of available parking on the street, but you'd want to double-check on parking with Declan and Kathy.
It was a ten-minute walk to the center of Wexford town, even closer straight down the street to a couple of terrific restaurants, The Yard and Greeenacres. I enjoyed the town and got into the routine of visiting a favorite coffee shop and/or pub. Food, and other shopping is all there. Likewise to catch local and inter-city buses and the train station. Close.
So, there is nothing I would change. I've rented a lot of places over the past few years. You simply cannot go wrong with this space, nor will you meet more pleasant, helpful and respectful people than Declan and Kathy.
What a lovely place to stay! We were very comfortable, and the little extra's made it feel like home. Also a fantastic place to use as a base for exploring Ireland - it's right nearby some magnificent heritage sites. Hoping to be back one day :)
A welcoming, clean and quiet apartment with everything you need to feel good in it. Declan and Kathy got in touch with us promptly. They are really friendly and discreet hosts. The house was perfect for the quiet week-end we needed. We were very happy with our choice and we totally recommend this place!
Absolutely amazing. Not only is this apartment just as posted. It feels at home and with a washer dryer. Declan and Kathy are such gracious hosts. They made my stay perfect. I am coming back here again.
Our experience with Declan and Kathy was just perfect. It started off with us being surprised by Kathy showing up at the train station to greet us and save us from some inclement weather and it only got better over the next 7 days. The apartment is perfectly situated in the town as you are close to all amenities, including the shops along the Quays. There was plenty of information provided to us by our hosts in the form of a tourist info package in the apartment. The apartment was quite comfortable and had everything we needed to live comfortably for the duration of our stay. Kathy and Declan are both lovely people and we truly enjoyed their company. We definitely would recommend staying here for anyone who is looking for a place in Wexford. Thanks for a great stay in Wexford!
