The Space

This charming and nicely decorated studio apartment is nestled on the 1rst floor in a typically artisan paved and flowery court.
The kitchen is fully equipped: fridge, coffee maker, kettle, microwave, electric cooking plaques, toaster...
The double bed is separated from the living room area with a folding screen. The sofa is convertible into a double bed.
The bathroom has a sink, toilet and a shower.
There is Wifi and a washing machine.

The apartment is located in Ledru Rollin neighborhood, a residential area within walking distance to Bastille Place, Gare de Lyon station and the Marais historical area.
Many subway lines will get you easily around Paris:
Ledru rollin ( 2 min from apt ): Line 8
Bastille ( 5 min from apt ): line 1, 5, 8
Gare de Lyon ( 5 min to apt ): line 1, 14 and RER A and D.

Historically being the district of carpenters and wood workers some are still in activity in hidden alleyways around rue du faubourg saint antoine and rue de charonne. Bastille district is now known to be the Fashion (designers') district (Isabelle Marant etc...) but also world known architects (Wilmotte etc...)
Close to the historical Marais (Pablo Picasso Museum, place de Vosges). This is the Paris by night place to be, lots of restaurants, bars, night clubs, cafés..
The typical Aligre Market is 3 minutes walk from the apt, open everyday except monday. A typical French market, you can find everything from fresh milk and cheese to fresh cherries and apricots or homemade pate. Enjoy a glass of wine after your finished shopping at the lively Baron Rouge (1 rue Théophile Roussel) while rubbing shoulders with the fishmongers, butchers or trendy locals.
The Arsenal Port is 5 minutes walk from the apartment it is the Paris port that connects the Seine to Canal Saint Martin and borders the eastern part of the Marais, from the Bastille to the river.
The Viaduc des Arts and the Promenade Plantée are just around the corner. The Viaduc is one of Paris old train link that was renovated in the 1990s, transforming the lower arcades into workshops and the upper lever, where the trains once ran, into a lovely planted walkway lined with bamboo and roses, the path goes all the way to the Vincennes woods.

This is the perfect place to discover Paris authentically with easy access to every touristic sites!

  • The location here was perfect, and the building was secure, we met with Lea's friend who patiently waited for us to arrive (as our flight was delayed) and she was lovely.
Only downside was the bed was really uncomfortable and there was a load of washing on from the previous guest which I had to end up hanging all over the apartment to dry then fold and put away as the load was so full it would not dry in the machine. Also the fridge was really smelly even though there was nothing off in there.
But I would recommend here for location as it's close to the metro, Notre Dame, restaurants and cafe's.

  • Initially our experience with the host was professional and timely. The apartment was in a perfect location; was clean and private. The one thing that made our stay very uncomfortable and tiring, was that the double bed had a mattress on it that was so thin even a child could have felt the boards underneath. I only weigh 55kg and woke every night feeling as though I was lying on a bumpy floor. We contacted the host immediately to ask if she could supply us with a foam mattress to place on top of the bed mattress. We did not hear back from her at all, even though we emailed and texted her. I feel it is vital to ensure tired travellers have a comfy bed to flop into each night.

    Merci beaucoup!

  • We had a wonderful time in Paris and Lea's apartment is as described a perfect little nest to settle down during your trip. The unit is perfectly located, close to public transportation as well as many shops and restaurants. We have been taken care of on time by Lea's brother (thanks Matt for your warm welcome!) and got to get acquainted with the apartment. This place is neat, tidy and cosy. We particularly loved the extra little attentions like the binder with all relevant information about the area as well as some basic commodities in the fridge and in the pantry zone (coffee, jam, oil, ...). We definitely recommend the apartment and will come back without hesitating next time we'll be in Paris.

  • We loved Lea's place! The location is a great one, on a neat street just outside of the main tourist areas, with easy access to several lines and the Gare de Lyon is just about ten minutes away (we were able to walk with heavy luggage from the train station without any issue). Just around the corner is the Alligre market, which is a great place to pick up some vegetables and cheese to make use of in the well-appointed and well-stocked kitchen. The apartment was very comfortable for two people.

Lea's brother Matt was very friendly and professional and met us according to our schedule - he had great tips for the area, and the apartment itself had some local maps and information that made our stay in Paris even better!

  • My husband and I spent 11 days in Lea's apartment. It is in a fabulous location for immersing yourself in Paris and seeing Paris without the tourist mobs. Experiencing the neighborhood where locals are real. The boulangerie across the street, the outdoor marche just 3 blocks away, the flower store Arom that was so nice a block away, and two convenient markets within a few blocks. The metro is so close, yet you can walk to the center of Paris so easily. Great cafes and restaurants, nice walks on the viaduct, and interior design shops within a few blocks. We felt safe in the courtyard building, and it was quiet while we were there. A friend of Lea's met us at the apt when we arrived and she showed us around, including how to use the washer/dryer combination unit. A must for a long stay like ours. The apartment is exactly what you would expect from the photographs provided. We enjoyed the convenience of it all. Thanks Lea!

  • Lea- was helpful and informative from the time of booking and answered all of our questions within 24 hours.

The apartment is safe and secure, located in a quiet area just near the Bastille with a really gorgeous terrace. It is small but has everything you need. Lea was kind enough to have some of the basics coffee, cooking oil, sugar etc. We cooked two nights of the four. She has also helpfully put (email hidden) of the neighbourhood we ate at a few of the recommended restaurants in the area.

Everything was clean and tidy and there is a fold out bed if you need but three people is probably the limit. Great base for Paris and a little home away from home.
