The space
The Blak Shak is the perfect getaway for couples or solo travellers. Fully self-contained, this modern space on Gubbi Gubbi land offers a place to escape, surrounded by nature.
As you walk through the front door, you’ll be greeted with incredible views of the forest through the giant picture window. Listen to the beautiful birdsongs throughout the day or the chirp of the frogs at night. Firewood is provided so you can warm up in front of the fire, either inside or out by the firepit. There is also a reverse-cycle air conditioner for quick heating or cooling.
The Blak Shak has one bedroom, with luxurious linens on a king bed and barn doors which separate the room from the rest of the cabin for intimacy. Wake up and throw the bedroom’s sliding doors open to take in the beauty of the hinterland. Gaze out to the treetops and enjoy a cuppa on your private deck overlooking the forest or fire up the Weber BBQ during your stay.
Breathe in the smell of the forest as you soak in the tub. The bathroom offers a freestanding bath as well as a shower. Enjoy the beautiful aroma of the Aesop bath products, snuggle up in the provided Sheridan bathrobes and feel free to use the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer during your stay. Enhance your experience with complimentary bath salts or immerse yourself in the simplicity of pure rainwater.
Pull up a stool and hang out around the kitchen bench. As well as the usual kettle, toaster, coffee press and tea pot, the kitchen has a stow-away induction cooktop, integrated dishwasher and a bar fridge with ice. There is also a milk frother and a microwave / grill oven to warm up snacks or meals during your stay. (*Please note this is only a grill oven, not a traditional oven.) Help yourself to the Blak Shak's herb garden with a variety of herbs to add to your meal. Dimmable under-shelf lighting helps illuminate your workspace while in the kitchen.
There’s plenty to do if you decide to stay put in the Blak Shak, with books to browse, games to play or art supplies to create a masterpiece! Stretch into your favourite yoga poses and meditate on the provided yoga mats or head out and explore our beautiful area! Enjoy a day of shopping in nearby hinterland boutiques and markets or immerse yourself in nature at one of the many national parks, magical waterfalls and scenic trails. We strive to make the Blak Shak as ecologically conscious as possible. Cleaning and bathroom products are mindfully chosen to be environmentally friendly. We avoid single-use items wherever possible. Rainwater is our sole water source (carbon filtered and UV treated). Sewage is processed onsite through a septic waste treatment system. We ask guests to please be mindful of our dedication to reducing environmental impact while staying in the Blak Shak.

Guest access
The Blak Shak is on acreage shared with our main home. This luxury treehouse is orientated to face away from the house and overlooks green surrounds to ensure your privacy is maintained.
We invite you to explore our back yard and gardens during your stay. While we share the property, the Blak Shak was designed to minimise any contact with the main house. You also have private access to the outdoor firepit during your stay.
Enter the driveway from the main road and enjoy private parking. A short walk along the gravel walkway will bring you to the front deck of the Blak Shak. As our treehouse is tucked into the hillside on this sloping block, there are three steps down from the footpath to the main property entrance.
The Blak Shak has keyless entry, and you will be given a personalised code to use during your stay.
Other things to note
Where possible, we will meet you upon arrival to welcome you in person, but after that, we give you full privacy to enjoy your stay. If you need anything during your visit, we’re usually close by and available to help.
Please be aware that our property is located in a natural setting where potentially dangerous snakes may be present. While we take precautions to minimize any encounters, it is important for all guests to remain vigilant and exercise caution, particularly in outdoor areas such as gardens, trails, and wooded regions.
By staying at our property, you acknowledge the natural risks associated with wildlife and agree that we are not liable for any harm or injury resulting from encounters with snakes or other wildlife.
