Lumbung Balinese Cottage ~ 2 Rooms

Villa - Private room · Jalan Kedewatan 2, Sayan, Br Kutuh, Ubud, Bali, Indonesia

The Space

The Lumbung villa is a traditional Balinese structure. The villa has two floors with separate private entrances.

The Garden Perch is the upper suite of the Lumbung villa. The Garden Perch feels like a cozy, romantic and luxurious tree house with high thatched ceilings constructed by local artisans. The private balcony overlooks beautiful organic gardens, tropical jungle and partial views of the rice paddy fields. The queen-size bed and interior trimmings are handmade and whitewashed to create a bright and open feeling. The rear of the Garden Perch provides views of the temple and coconut tree garden. Stairs lead down to the spacious outdoor, covered bathroom with custom made bathtub that comfortably fits two and separate rainfall shower.

The lower suite of the Lumbung, the Garden Hideaway is a cozy twin room with a private garden area and ensuite bathroom. The high teak ceilings and large windows bring in a beautiful light. The windows open to a private, enclosed garden area. Surrounded by lush, lovely tropical flora guests enjoy absolute privacy in this secret hideaway.

Guests of the Lumbung can enjoy the common lounge area, infinity pool and on-site spa.

Entering the Naya retreat, guests are welcomed into the ‘Pool Joglo’, the large common lounge area. Pool Joglo is an original Javanese structure constructed from reclaimed wood, lovingly restored and converted into a covered outdoor space in the heart of Naya. Relax in one of the many different seating areas over food and drinks with friends, family or with a book. To cool off, step into the adjoining infinity pool. The pool is cleansed by an Ozone system, which uses 90% less chlorine. As a result of this more natural process, the water has a smooth, velvety texture, is kinder and healthier for guests and less harsh on the environment.

The Naya Spa is situated down by the river, equipped with massage beds for in-house massage services. Naya offers traditional Balinese and Thai massage.

We have a diverse tropical range of foliage, including aesthetic medicinal and edible plants. Our chef uses fresh vegetables and herbs cultivated in our organic garden.

  • This is an understated oasis island surrounded by rice paddies in the village of Sayan (10mn away by motorbike to Ubud centre, not really doable on foot or bicycle ~ hilly and certain stretch of the roads are without sidewalks). Getting to the villa for the first time (especially at night) is not easy as cars have difficulty to drive to the place (imagine driving in the middle of rice paddies). However, the host/owner, Jay is just amazing. He will find you an easy solution to this whether you chose to arrive in your own transport/not.

The villa operates as a semi-business operated accommodation (although it may change with the arrival of a manager). which means you have the warmth and helpfulness of your host/owner and personalized services tailor-made to what you need. Our room (the hut) is very cosy with all needed amenities (A/C, water, kettle, little balcony, downstairs semi-opened bathroom with bathtub, rainshower, hot water, soap/shampoo, towel etc). The architecture (mix of local and designer touch) is amazing, materials used are all natural from teakwood, bamboo and attap roof, and surrounded by a beautiful landscaped garden.

Needless to say that facilities, such as pool, common living areas and massage room are all beautiful, decorated / designed with taste, all makes you feel at home.

Again, this is simply an oasis of relaxation, beauty and good company!

  • We loved our stay at Jay's place, the staff were great and the location is ideal if you want to be close to ubud but out of the hustle and bustle. Good coffee is within walking distance!

  • We had an amazing time at Jay's property in Ubud!
To put it simply, Jay was AMAZING, anything we wanted he was there to help and his knowledge of Ubud made our time at the property relaxing and exactly what we needed.
His attention to detail and super stylish taste was everywhere, form the breathtaking bedroom, beautiful bathroom that blends in with the nature, the swimming pool surrounded by amazing tropical plants and garden, the social area with modern furniture, relaxed and peaceful. The pictures don't even do justice to how beautiful this place is.
The property is set next to rice fields that we got to enjoy every morning with our coffee on the balcony and one morning we also took a walk in there, which was awesome.
The location is perfect in relation to the town - close enough to walk but far enough from the busy Ubud center.
The housekeepers were diligent and punctual everyday with all their duties!
We will absolutely stay here again.

  • Love the place, the people, the service. Breakfast was served with a big bowl of fruits and house made marmalade, toast, eggs and coffee. You can also opt for the banana pancakes. Swimming pool is clean. Don't forget the in house massage. It is a must. We have a hired driver/tour guide for the duration of our stay. The roads leading the resort is narrow and there were no sidewalk. The resort is in the middle of the paddies. It is quiet and a good place to relax. Gusti and the rest of his staffs are very professional and helpful. Thank you!

  • My family and I had a wonderful stay at Naya over the last few days. We went for my mum's 70th birthday. The rooms and gardens are prettier than in the photos. The people at Naya are lovely...the chef Wayan cooked us many delicious meals (which were much better than the meals we ate out), the manager Nyoman, who is also an artist, explained a lot about Balinese art and culture to us, Made who drove us around in his very comfortable car was kind and super helpful and Jay was very friendly and funny, and bothered to chat with us everyday and make us feel at home. The decor of the place is perfect, not a bit of the gloomy dark wood you see in much of Bali, but very bright and light while still being traditional. The gardens are very lush and they also have an organic vegetable garden. From the main common area there is a view of a paddy field with lots of cute ducks. We enjoyed our stay very much.

  • Amazing!!! In a way, could have stopped here, but must continue. Ludwig, who greated us there and guided through the Ubud experience was superb host. Both place and host are emitting so much of positiveness that its amazing. First place ever anywhere in the world, where we were offered a borrowed phone with all important numbers in it (taxi, owner, e.t.c.) to make things easy. Especially helpful for taxi arrangement - that was needed since place is a bit away from Ubud centre, but that is not a spoiler at all - just the opposite. Very nice to be right in middle of rice field, quiet. If want to have buzz - take a quick and cheap taxi. Place is beautiful, just opened, thus all freshly done and nice. Liked the design and proper finish. Probably by now they must have finished the special outdoor owen and additional lower garden as well. Pool is excellent. Kid absolutely loved it. Staff is very nice and helpful. Family very friendly place. After this stay will most likely also try to get to Ludwig's Naya in Istambul. Surely will make Your Ubud experience memorable. Around Ubud there are a lot of nice places to visit - all of that can be done either with the guide that can be suggested to you on site - we loved the guy. Or with the taxi driver Made. Say Tampaksiring, Sekumpul waterfall, temple on the Lake Bratan, rice field walk nearby Ubud. And definitely check out Sari Organic walk / food. Would love to come back one day.

About
Hello ~ My name is Rebecca Pflaum and I am a Kundalini Inspired Yoga teacher, mother of four sons, a regular face teaching at the BaliSpirit Festival, and the owner of Naya. For years I have dreamt of creating a space, a home for others to gather and to reconnect with their potentials, wisdom and gifts. A place where teachers, healers, musicians and dreamers can realize and share all that they have to offer. A sacred space for deep inner transformations, healing and those cherished AHA moments. We live in a time where more and more people understand the importance and crave to connect with that which resonates as Truth and is authentic in supporting a sustainable and nurturing lifestyle. The more we come together to create, encourage and support each other to be the best that we can be, the more all that is around us will prosper as well. Naya is your home away from home, a beautiful oasis for coming home to yourself. Allow yourself to participate in one of her many empowering and beautiful retreats, nourishing meals, soulful gatherings offering song and dance or just come and be still and soak in the healing surroundings of her nature and beauty. I am so thrilled to welcome you to Naya. Blessings!
