Type of stay/accommodation: Vacation/Beach Front Bungalow No. 6, Private Double room with Ensuite
Context: I chose to visit Thailand to relax after submitting my University of Oxford doctorate. Koh Samui was the first stop on my itinerary after arriving from London via Bangkok.
Shaun's professionalism and hospitality was evident long before I even made it to Samui. He responded efficiently to my pre-trip queries. His AirBnB profile was well-reviewed and is an acccurate representation of what you get.
Soon after arriving, I knew I had made the right choice. Check in was smooth and the room was nicely prepared. My first (much-needed) meal was deliciously fresh and local. Whilst eating, Shaun and I chatting about my plans for the week and got to know each other a little bit. It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
For the next week, Shaun went out of his way to provide me with sage wisdom and advice. He was very conscientious of my needs and student budget. He sorted me out with a motorbike, with an arranged tour to the five islands, and countless meal and sightseeing recommendations. All of his choices were spot on, and he suggested them in an unassuming and relaxed manner.
The facilities and quality of the rooms on site are excellent, particularly for the price point. My room had a double bed more comfortable than the one I pay 4 times as much per week for in Oxford. It had an ensuite toilet and shower that was clean and well maintained. The large fridge was fully stocked, and Shaun allowed me (and the other guests) to run tabs for what was used from the fridge (as well as for meals and drinks ordered at the Beach Club. The AC and flat-screen TV were both modern and efficient, and the power sources were secure and safe. WiFi was consistent, although at its absolute strongest in the restaurant and at the beach. The Bungalows are safely padlocked and literally sitting right on a quiet and unassuming beach.
Location was great. If you want to be close to all the crazy action in Chaweng, feel free to pay much more for less and not have a comfy place to rest your head. I preferred to go into Chaweng when I wanted some nightlife, and have the Beach Club serenity vibe waiting for me when I returned. Whether you feel the same is your choice.
The place attracted an eclectic group of seasoned travellers, locals, and first timers (myself). These people (especially Big Dave from Australia), along with Shaun and his team made my week in Samui a life experience I will never forget. I will most definitely return and, if you don't believe me, you need only read what I wrote on Shaun's 'Wall of Fame' (see pictures)
To conclude, if you want to explore Samui from a safe, clean and relaxed accomodation run by a kind, worldly and professional owner, the Island Hoppers Beach Club is for you!
Great Host! Shahin was very nice and helpful. Room was also very clean and nicely decorated. Best Towels I have ever used! Such a small thing made such a big impact! The room is.just a bit tiny! But the view is to die for! Highly recommend it if you are planning on being outdoors most of the time which is what we had done anyway.
Great little place. Bungalows are just next to the beach (depending on a tide - one or ten meters). They are clean and comfy. Also they are quite small but inside is everything what you might need during holidays (and even more, I hadn't turn on my Tv even once). But the most important part of this place is not the space to sleep and relax but the hospitality of the onwers - Shahin and Kathrin. They make sure that you will feel like at home. Katherin is a great cook, Shahin is a great host and both have a lot of stories to tell. Just hang out with them in the common area where you can eat, drink, chat, stare at sea, or even work (that's what I've been doing for three weeks).
I haven't left the note on the wall but that's beacuse I hope to come back!
Sean is the kind of host everybody wishes for. Always interested in your well-being while still giving you the privacy you want. Has an answer (and often a referral) for most queries about the island.
We stayed at the resort for two weeks. The weather wasn't the best, but we still had a great time thanks to Sean, Kath and the pool table. Tip: play him for beer! ;-)
I will definitely stay here again if (when) I come back to Koh Samui.
Had a great few nights in the Footprints beach bungalows! Away from the action so a great place to relax but we also were able to rent a scooter for a day when we wanted to head down to Chaweng Beach. Hope to be back someday for another visit!
On a sunny day you have found paradise on this beach. You can walk along it to some good Thai restaurants. The bungalows here are simple but nice, comfortable beds - wifi is important for me and that was fine. The restaurant is good with a good selection of Thai and western fare. You will feel very welcome here with the hospitality of Leonora, the Thai girls and Paddy. There is a pool table and I had a great time late night drinking with them.
Great (email hidden)e bungalows are right on the beach. It was beautiful to wake up with the water so close. It's convenient to take long walks on the beach, lined with beautiful bungalows and nice gardens. I had a wonderful stay.
The accommodation is basic but quite adequate. Both the air-con and wi-fi work, if you so choose. The hosts are friendly and helpful. There are nice eateries along the beach and the road - I would encourage visitors to try some of them out. Location tip - this is fairly close to the Bang Por 7Eleven store, if you need a landmark.
