This is definitely a north shore sanctuary, tucked among the trees and greenery of the northern part of Kauai, with easy access to both the north shore and back toward the towns on the southern shore. Taj is a lovely host, allowing her guests freedom to enjoy the space in which they are staying, while still providing a peaceful place to stay.
Sometimes while traveling, you meet a person or family that becomes the highlight of the trip. Well, Taj and Marc quickly became this highlight! The bed & breakfast was clean and spotless. You can even eat freshly picked fruit from the back yard. They shared the best locations for sunsets and where to find turtles nearby (turtle pictures came out amazing!)
While staying around Kauai for a month, I stayed at many BnBs, this was my best experience by far. If you are spending time close to the north shore or hiking the Kalalau Trail, this is a wonderful place to stay and relaxed. I left Kauai feeling refreshed and recharged thanks to the talks/exercises with Taj and Marc.
My one regret is that I only stayed 10 days. I could easily live here. Thanks for a wonderful stay Taj & Marc! As discussed many times, you'll see me soon :)
Much love and Aloha,
The compound (house and gardens) was pristine, spacious, and serene. There is a lot of space and time for quiet repose here. The lanai upstairs and living rooms downstairs afforded more opportunity than I could use. The access to the Golden Lotus bedroom was from the front or the back, which was quite convenient. Kitchen is well stocked, and private refrigerators on the back deck with plenty of room for groceries. The hosts Taj and Marc-Andre were friendly, engaging, and helpful. I mainly enjoyed having my coffee and reading on the lanai overlooking the gardens in the morning, which was a very peaceful way to start out the day. Also the location in Kilauea was quite handy for access to North Shore beaches, Nepali Coast, and Hanalei Bay. Spent a week here, enjoyed it tremendously. It was very comfortable, and I felt very welcomed by my hosts.
Taj and Marc are warm, welcoming, and wonderful hosts. They open and share their house and wealth of their knowledge in a way which is totally friendly and positive. Stay with them - you will have a great time. Thank you so much for an excellent stay - I'm sure I will return!
The location is perfect and the accommodations very comfortable. The house was beautiful, clean, organized and quiet. Taj was a wonderful host! I just wished I could have stayed longer. I will go back for sure.
THE perfect first time in hawaii :
1. arrive at night...... drive here in dark.....
2. wake up / high five your partner + drive 2 close Hanalei beach
3. sit there all day // swim ! // sit ...... caution : do NOT move.
night : sushi in same town..... smiling @ strangers optional ;)
4. next 4 days : rinse + repeat
5. go home a brand new person
6. abrakadabra : aloha :)
A beautiful room, house and host. Loved every minute!
Located in a beautifull garden, the house is magnificent. Our host has been very friendly and causy, as the house. The very large 2nd floor living room provides a very comfortable setting with a nice elevated view, and it is easy and convenient to do some light cooking.
The location is a few miles from grocery stores and all other shopping needs, and the location allows to stay also resting in the garden or the balcony (but keep the mosquito repellent close by)
I can't say enough about the hosts. Both Taj and her partner Mark are incredibly friendly and kind people. They are also very knowledgeable about the island, so I recommend you ask them for advice on what to see and do. They're deeply spiritual people, too, which adds further to their warm, welcoming energy.
I stayed in two different rooms there. The first room I stayed in was a cottage separate from the main house. It is a beautiful, screened-in cottage with a double-size bed, and small closet. It's a bit tight for two people, but very cozy. I have only two (minor) complaints about the cottage is that you have to remember to cover the bed each day with the netting, as otherwise the geckos relieve themselves on the bed. Even so, it does get on your luggage. Not to worry, though -- you can just sweep it off -- it's not messy. It doesn't seem to happen while you're sleeping, though, so you don't have to sleep in the netting during the night. The second (even more minor) issue is that, if you have to go to the bathroom, you'll have to walk a bit to the main house.
The second room we stayed in was the Lotus room in the main house. It is roomier, with a full closet, some drawers, and just more space in general. It has sliding doors that open onto a deck that overlooks the garden. It also has a nice ceiling fan. It does get warm in the room (especially compared to the airy cottage), so you'll probably need to leave the fan on while you sleep.
The rest of the house is gorgeous, especially the kitchen. Everything is impeccably clean, and there's lots of space to relax around the house. The WiFi works great, too, and is plenty fast.
Great place and great people!
Very peaceful home, great location near Kilauea.
