The Space

Greetings,
I have one more room available, a cozy upstairs bedroom with an East facing window. It has a good sized closet, a desk, a lazy-boy type rocking chair and 2 twin beds situated on opposite walls of the room. This room and the upstairs bedroom with a queen bed share a 1/2 bath between them and a full bath on the main floor. All common areas in the house, including the kitchen, are to be enjoyed by my guests.
The Gold Rush Era town of Nevada City is approximately 1.7 miles away and downtown Grass Valley is only another 4+ miles from there. This could be your quiet retreat after a day of roaming the downtowns and/or communing with nature on the Yuba River.
Please come visit,
Chris

  • My 28 yr old daughter and I took a rare long weekend vacation alone together. We loved our 3 night stay at Chris's house, in its gorgeous park-like setting. We stayed upstairs in the comfortable two twin beds room.

It was centrally located between the two easiest accesses to the Yuba River, where we spent a couple of lazy summer afternoons floating on rafts. They were each about 1/2 hr away, but that was fine as neither one was in a locale we'd have wanted to stay in even if there were something closer.

And Chis's place is just a few minutes from Nevada City, where we went to buy lunches to take to the river and to eat fabulous dinners afterward. Oh, and breakfast too. We had planned on cooking, since Chris gives kitchen privileges, but the food was so good in town, we could hardly wait to get back. We highly recommend California Organics and Ike's restaurants.

Chris is just a delightful friendly person with a big smile and her helpful friend Greg even blew up our rafts for us, as we'd forgotten our pump. I highly recommend staying here and floating on the river.

  • My friend and I rented this room for a weekend getaway. It was my first experience with Airbnb. Chris was a super gracious host. She emailed me a few times before the trip to see if I had any questions, provided me with recommendations for where to swim in the Yuba river and even gave me a weather report. When we arrived at her place the first night, she greeted us in the driveway and helped carry our bags in. We stayed two nights and were impressed with the cozy atmosphere of the house, the friendliness of the other guests, and the open atmosphere that Chris created for us. I would definitely recommend this as a very affordable option, conveniently located near Nevada City and the river.

  • My first experience with an Airbnb listing was a totally pleasant surprise.
In searching the internet for lodging in Nevada City, CA for an upcoming
family wedding, I stumbled on an ad for Chris W's bedroom in her house.
The concept was new to me, but seemed to offer a homier alternative to
a hotel experience. Her reviews were very positive, so I booked 2 nights.
I must say, the whole experience there was a little slice of heaven. Chris
is a most gracious, sweet and generous host, and the other guests of
Chris' were just as pleasant. I even played 27 holes of golf with one of
them the second day I was there. The house and her cabins are in a
peaceful wooded setting and I would definitely return, if only as an
    occasional refuge from Los Angeles.

  • Chris is the most kind, caring and hospitable host. She greeted me with a big hug and made me comfortable in every way. I loved every minute of staying in her cozy and personal home. It was very clean and comfortable. I stayed in the room with two beds and it was very spacious and cozy. I can't wait to go back! Couldn't have been better!

  • My sister and I had a wonderful time here. Chris is one of the nicest people I have ever met, and I'm so glad we got to stay with her. Thank you Chris for sharing your beautiful home with us! :)

  • I have stayed at Chris's home several times now and must say she is such a warm and thoughtful host and wonderful person. This room is spacious and comfortable. I recommend her, and so does my husband. Thanks, Chris!

  • Chris is Awesome! She is genuinely kind and warm and went out of her way to make me feel comfortable and welcome. The cabin is cozy and fun. I had a wonderful relaxing vacation there. Plus it's close to downtown, yet has a remote feel. The bed was also very comfortable....the first time in years i haven't awoken with pain in my neck. Looking forward to returning next year!

  • Chris's beautiful residence is surrounded by a pristine forest, yet it is not far from the eclectic downtown of Nevada City. Also the nearby Yuba River is a crystal clear, flowing river that is a must to both see and immerse yourself in.

However, the highlight of our stay in Nevada city was having the wonderful opportunity to meet our hosts Chris and Greg. They were extremely hospitable hosts whose warmth and kindness exceeded our expectations! We would higly recommend that anyone that needs a place to stay in Nevada City stay with Chris and Greg. You will not regret it! We know that we will be returning....

  • Chris and Greg are great hosts; make you feel right at home. Chris is cheerful and friendly. I stayed both in the twin bedroom which has very comfortable mattresses, and also the Queen room which was very comfortable too. Personally I preferred the Queen, it was a bit firmer bed. I slept like a log. I didn't expect morning coffee or to share any meals as I know that isn't part of it, but it was wonderful to be allowed to share coffee and use their kitchen, microwave and share a few meals with them as friends too! Both deck spaces are perfect for afternoon appetizers and wine, and a good book.
