About this listing
My lovely little house is located in Rosedale, a quiet neighborhood in Central Austin with tree lined streets and friendly neighbors. Central Market North is just blocks away and there are many trendy restaurants, bars and coffee shops in the area. The Burnet Rd Corridor, which is quickly becoming the new hot spot in Austin, is just a few blocks away.
My lovely one bedroom one bath house can be your home away from home when you're visiting Austin. It is centrally located in the darling neighborhood of Rosedale. Only a few miles from Downtown and South Austin, its close in, yet far enough away to be peaceful and quiet.
The house is beautiful, with a gourmet kitchen if you like to cook... and plenty of nearby neighborhood restaurants if you don't. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you might need to create a wonderful meal.
Cable and WIFI are included and there is a big screen smart TV in the Living Room.
The bedroom has a double bed with a very comfy Tempurpedic mattress and high quality cotton sheets.
There are hard wood floors throughout the home… no carpet anywhere! The entire house is clean and simple… a very easy space to relax in.
Guests have access to the washer and dryer in the garage and the screen porch in the back.
Interaction with guests
I am usually home when I have guests and will meet you when you arrive. Then its up to you. You can have all the privacy you want or you can come and share a glass of wine and visit!
Rosedale is a very sweet neighborhood in Central Austin. Only a few miles from Downtown and South Austin, its close in, yet far enough away to be peaceful and quiet. Its is an older established neighborhood with beautiful tree lined streets. Ramsey Park is just three blocks away and in summer you can enjoy the lovely swimming pool there. The town lake trail (Shoalcreek portion) is an excellent option for walking or biking. Access to it is just two blocks away.
There are plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, beer gardens and wine bars in the neighborhood. Uchiko, one of Austin's finest sushi restaurants, is within walking distance. Taco Deli and Julio's will satisfy your breakfast taco needs... and if you're a beer lover, the Draught house is just around the corner. Coffee shops and wine bars are plentiful too. There are many awesome eateries within a one mile radius of the house (see guidebook), and as mentioned above, Downtown and South Austin are just a few miles away with more awesome restaurants. And oh, did I mention the trailer food? You have to try it!
Central Market is the neighborhood grocery store and it is awesome. It even has live music on the patio some nights! If you prefer a smaller grocery shopping experience, try Wheatsville or Natural Grocers, both on Guadalupe St. Wednesday night is Farmer's Market at the Triangle, where you can buy local produce and meat.
I should also mention that The Little Longhorn Saloon, one of the best little honky tonks in Texas, is just down Burnet Rd. Every Sunday afternoon is Chicken **it bingo and live honky tonk music.
Rosedale is centrally located in between the always popular South side of town and the new and trendy North Loop and Burnet Road areas.
The neighbors are outgoing and friendly. You will often see them out and about walking their dogs and visiting friends.
The music scene in Austin is amazing and if you want to know more about that, let me know. There are so many wonderful music and dancing venues in town. Many of those are down south... still only about 4 to 6 miles from the house. You don't want to miss out on the Continental Club, the Broken Spoke or ABGB.
The bus line is just down the road if you don't have a car or don't want to drive.
The central location of my home also offers convenient access to the MoPac freeway. Many of the high tech companies in Austin are located off the MoPac (loop 1 freeway).
There are bus lines on both Burnet and Lamar, within easy walking distance of the house. If you have a bike, you can stash it on the front of the bus. There are also several rental bike racks at various locations around town.
My home is conveniently located between the MoPac freeway and N Lamar. Both run North and South and either will take you to just about anywhere in the city.
Other things to note
Austin has so much to offer… from music festivals like ACL and SXSW… Formula 1 car racing, and UT Longhorn games and graduations… or simply to visit family and friends.
No smoking. No pets. No excessive noise or loud partying.
Family is the most important thing in my life, so now that my kids are all grown and scattered across the country, I spend a lot of time traveling around to see them.
When I am in Austin, I love to go out... dancing, listening to music, eating out or looking at art. There are so many things to do here. Lots of outdoor activities too... walking on town lake, swimming in Barton Springs or boating on Lake Travis.
Most of my friends here love to dance and we sometimes make trips to Louisiana (where I'm originally from) to dance Cajun and Zydeco.
