Our 2 bedroom duplex with private backyard is conveniently located near Stanford University, public transportation (Caltrain), and downtown giving you access to everything Silicon Valley has to offer.
Our place is a 1200 sq. foot 2 bedroom 1.5 bath two story duplex located behind a single family home in Old Palo Alto. Ideal for someone in town for interviews or visiting Stanford. The two bedrooms each have a comfy queen size bed with lots of pillows and down comforters with a shared full bathroom in the hall. One room has an "office" space with desk and monitor. We also have a pull-out couch downstairs in the living room that would sleep another two people. We have quick wireless internet access, TV with Tivo and Netflix/Pandora integration, a dining table that can seat six people, and a fully functioning kitchen with a gas range, granite counters, microwave, toaster, rice cooker, Vitamix, electric tea kettle, french press or drip coffee machine, etc. Washer and dryer available. We also have a backyard equipped with a gas grill and gas fire pit for entertaining. Easy street parking.
We are in the perfect location, 10 minute walk to California Ave and the Caltrain station and 3 miles from both Stanford University and downtown Palo Alto's University Ave. There are lots of fantastic restaurants and things to do downtown. Our neighborhood is very quiet and beautiful, great place to take a long walk, visit the local park, or the Gamble Gardens nearby.
**One thing I must mention is that while we are away we will need someone here who enjoys the company of two social, loving cats! We will need you to refresh their food and water during your stay. You can shut them out of the bedrooms but in general they are very friendly so you must love animals.
Interaction with Guests
I will not be on-site for your stay but will be a quick phone call or email away.
Diversity, innovation, wealth and location. These words describe what people love about the Silicon Valley, and there might not be a place that better embodies the area's spirit than the neighborhood of Old Palo Alto.
Although it is not actually the oldest neighborhood in the city, Old Palo Alto is well-known for its affluent residents and diverse architectural styles.
CalTrain (Stops between San Jose and San Francisco) We're close to highways US-101 and I-280 yet not close enough to hear them. Street parking is a breeze. We're 16 miles from SJC (San Jose Airport), 22 miles from SFO (San Francisco Airport).
Don't let the cats outside
Refill cat water daily
Fill cat food every 2-3 days

PS the neighborhood is lovely and we did walk to Stanford
Sara's house is a little oasis! We loved staying there for 10 days during our recent trip to Palo Alto. The location is excellent - in a wonderful quiet neighborhood within easy walking/biking distance of both downtown PA and Stanford. The house itself is adorable, the perfect size for 3 of us, and I was amazed by how well her kitchen is stocked in terms of appliances and kitchenware - definitely had everything we needed and more. The back yard is a gem, peaceful and lovely. Best of all were her two cats - wonderful company and really made it feel like home. Sara was great at keeping in touch both before and during our stay and even arranged ahead of time for help with things like trash, recycling, and cat care. We would love to stay at Sara's again on future trips to PA.
I'm a marketing director at a tech company in Silicon Valley. I'm recently married, my husband just finished his PhD at Stanford and is now an economist in the energy market. We have two awesome rescued cats named Zoe and Nola. They make home life pretty entertaining.
We love to travel and prefer 60% adventure, 40% relaxation. That's our perfect mix. We also love to explore Northern California, often times you can find us backpacking in our local state parks.
