  • Hi, we sent some of our relatives on a holiday to John's studio apartment in Byron as they are very kind people who never seem to get away. Our relatives were so happy when they got back from Byron as said the accommodation, location and everything was great. They could also do some nice walking as the beach was very close as were the restaurants. We all agreed that it is really great that the money from John's accommodation goes to helping kids overseas.

  • John was the perfect host and the studio was exactly how the pictures showed it to be. Perfect location, all amenities provided, really couldn't have asked for anything more. If you want a place to feel like a home away from home, in a quiet area yet within a stones throw from the beach and town centre then John's studio is the place to stay. Oh and to top it all you are also providing to a great charity.

  • We spent 5 days at John's studio apartment, and we had a splendid time! Its so close to the main area and beach that my partner and I walked almost everyday to eat and spend time at the beach. The room had everything you need, including 2 boogie boards which we discovered a little too late, but nonetheless its good to know its there for next time!

    Thanks for a wonderful stay!

  • Excellent location - only 5 minute walk to town and the beach. The studio was clean and well-maintained. Bathroom shiny and new with a great shower. Comfortable bed. Kitchen had everything I needed to cook with. John and Audrey were friendly and professional. They were always on hand if I needed anything eg to fix the dvd player, lend me a bike, give me tips on where the best bush walks were. And they kindly donate all their profits to charity! Lovely people. I would definately come back to stay and would recommend this place to others.

  • What a wonderful stay - lovely clean space, cute kitchen, great sized bathroom (with hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, sunscreen etc), comfortable bed and lounge room. Such nice touches when we arrived, from a fresh bunch of bananas to cheese and crackers in the fridge. Great location, 2 minute walk over the train tracks to the shops, 5 mins to the beach and the brewery just down the road for a meal and drink (there was no noise from our spot at all!) Bikes were there if we needed it and John was always available, particularly to provide a restaurant recommendation or for things to do. We'll definitely be back, it felt like our home away from home. Thanks John!

  • Loved the accommodation, just perfect for my Byron experience. John was a great host, leaving me a lovely treat for my arrival. The use of the bike was brilliant for getting about, as was the free wi-fi for keeping in touch with the real world. The place is very clean, modern and close to all Byron has to offer. Only a 2 min walk to the weekend market, 5 mins to Woolworths supermarket and 10mins to main beach and the heart of town. Would highly recommend and definitely stay again. I also love the fact that my $$$ are going to help fund school projects in Cambodia.

  • I stayed in this studio for 3 nights and it was everything I was hoping it would be... clean, quiet, well located and modern. John was friendly and accommodating, although I only ran into him a few times during my stay. What impressed me the most about this particular B&B was knowing that the money I payed for the accommodation was being put towards a very worthy cause!

I'm retired, I enjoy travel, fishing and walking. For 30 years I worked for ABC Television, based in Brisbane, making all types of programs. My wife Audrey and I use proceeds from our studio to fund projects in Cambodia. We support "Singing Kites" who founded an English language school in Tanop village, Takeo Province, 4 years ago. The children all 1540 of them come from poor rice farming families, most of whom could not afford anything but very basic education their children. The school provides English language and Khmer tutoring from preschool to grade 12 and beyond with 11 students sponsored in universities in Phnom Penh. We are currently introducing Computer training and have wifi available for students, staff and volunteers. My neighbours and I all believe we live in the best location in Byron.
