On 4 acre lot, offers privacy and tranquility and is just a short 200 yard walk down a footpath. AC in 1 room. High 30ft ceilings in LR, really well ventilated. Lots of space. Two world class surf beaches with 2km. Caretaker lives on property behind the house. Mango trees, wrap around porch, and on a dirt road.

En lote de 2 hectarias, tranquilo, 200 metros de la playa. Aire en un cuarto solamente. Los otros lados de la casa son abiertas sin aire. Mucho espacio.

The space

Keep in mind you are in rural, rustic, CR. If you expect no geckos and no dust, this is not the place for you, book a resort. It's dirt roads and chickens and horses and surfing beaches, and lovely people but not a hotel, its a rustic home on the beach. There may be spiderwebs.

Favor de recorder estas en una area rustica y rural. Esta no es casa moderna, va tener polvo y telas de aranas como es casa muy grande con techos altos. Favor no reservar si no quieres algo rustico en la playa en una carretera todavia de tierra.

Interaction with guests

Happy to answer any questions I can.

Other things to note

Like most places in CR we ask that you put toilet paper in the bin.

Jessica's home is very special. I would like to be sitting on the deck drinking my morning coffee right now. Listening to the birds and feeling a lovely breeze. Outdoor shower was amazing! The beach is right there. Next time I'd like to just stay at Jessica's for two weeks. Most relaxing place I've been.

Overall, our experience was exactly what we wanted. I was with a group of four college students on our senior year spring break, looking for something quiet and secluded. The house is in a very rural area, about 25 minutes from Tamarindo, the closest happening town. Still, local restaurants and small bars are very close as well. While it was easy to walk down the dirt path to get to the beach, it's crucial to get a rental car (preferably an SUV, the dirt roads are quite rough). The two beaches where you'd want to spend the day are each about a 5-min drive away, and it's worth driving into Tamarindo to get groceries for the lower prices. The house itself is on a small farm, with a wrap-around porch and hammocks. The master bedroom is air conditioned, and while the other bedroom is not, it still got comfortably cool at night. The ants were a small issue, along with the dust, but both were expected given the land. Jessica was a great host, and made us feel very welcome. We recommend!

We had a great time. The house was as described — rustic, secluded and private. The beach was only a 5 minute walk and was completely private: Only one or two other people in sight.

The place is really big and well ventilated (which is important for the local weather). It's a bit secluded and quiet, but close to beautiful beaches. There are bugs and stuff, but that's normal in the region.

Nice house in a good location. Short drive to beaches and restaurants. The horses roaming the property were beautiful and really added to the experience. It was very windy when we were there, and something was banging nonstop on the roof which was incredibly loud and made it difficult to relax. Also, there were a TON of ants in the kitchen. I know bugs are to be expected in more rural areas, but this was a bit extra. All in all, I'd recommend staying here. Great for a family or large group.

Response from Jessica:
Hey Mike thanks for the feedback- only thing is the beach is 150 meters in front of the house - the path is right out front straight to the beach - sorry you didn't see that, is it really is about a 4 minute walk from the house.

The house is very unique. Just a short walk to the beach. The beach is also unique with large rocks. The house is located on the main road which is dirt as is most of the roads. Therefore it is very dusty. Loved the house.

I am a traveler. I was born in Canada, grew up in Costa Rica and have lived all over North America and Asia. I have much still to go.

I speak Spanish and English fluently and broken French.
Our home is your home; treat it with respect and kindness.

I am not always in the country, when I am I am happy to personally help with anything I can, when I am not we have a caretaker that lives on site. Our houses are rustic and lived-in. They are not brand new, they are not hotel rooms. They are lived in but clean and cared for.

That being said, this is Costa Rica, there are bugs, there are mosquitos. Our houses are not sealed tight, you will see these. There are geckos and bugs. This is a part of life here. If you are not able to deal with that this might not be appropriate.

Guanacaste, our province, is in a bad drought, so please conserve our water. If you enjoy ocean bathing so much the better ;)
